If the parent didn't build that relationship than that's the parents fault. It's also their choice on who to put on their will. Children are not responsible for building & INITIATING a relationship with their parents. That is the parents job from birth, if they failed at that then it's not the childs fault or responsibility to fix it once they are an adult.

Woah, why are people thinking this?? Like I’ve had this conversation with my dad, he was talking about houses and which houses he’s leaving me, which houses he’s leaving my brother, etc, I said this to him and I’ll say it here : I don’t care if I get 4 houses or none at all, I’ll be happy even if my brother gets everything, I’m not materialistic like that and you know that. Something that I would like more, is a heartfelt letter, that I would frame and have with me forever, or something that was meaningful to you or both of us, so it reminds me of you and makes me smile when I look at it and think of you. My dad always says this “I’ve only got one son, and one daughter” he loves us both equally and differently and that’s okay! So yeah... just thought I would say this for anyone who needs to hear it. Like they said, if “what am *I* going to get?” Is your first question/thought when talking about your father’s or mother’s death, I’m sorry but that’s just wrong imo, and that’s something you need to work on.

I also feel like we have to be fair in a relationship and also look at the fact that just because my partner isn’t perfect doesn’t mean I am and we should own that ! If you’re sitting here just saying “ my partner doesn’t ... & ... “ what do you do , how bout that ?!?! Look at yourself FIRST before u decide to throw stones and hide your hands ! We all have flaws... so look at what you bring the table before trying to make the other party look bad... it’s fair to feel a certain way if they aren’t doing something for you but what do you do for them
@peaceness8884 жыл бұрын
That's true for most things. But if he cheats on you, is abusive, a bum (i.e. unemployed and not actively looking for work, unless he's a student or stay-at-home dad), or on drugs and refusing to get serious help -- you need to leave. Even if you are the same, staying with someone in that space will only reinforce your negative characteristics and bad habits. If you are a bum, living with someone who has no ambition will only make it worse for you. If you cheated, you shouldn't be with a relationship unless you can be honest with the other person. If you have any of those characteristics, you shouldn't be in a relationship -- you aren't ready. You should work on yourself. Toxic relationships don't help people -- they prevent them from growing. However, for other stuff, you are 100% right. Some people think a partner will solve all their problems. Unless you have supermodel looks, you shouldn't expect your financial problems to be solved by getting with a partner. Don't blame him/her for not making enough money if you're not making that kind of money either. Same for people who are bad communicators, get into arguments, are sexually unfulfilled, etc. Too many people look at their problems and forget to look in the mirror and instead look for others to solve them.

In my honest opinion if you've respected ,obeyed,& honored your parents while they were alive then if they choose to leave you anything after they've passed away then so be it but in my honest opinion I believe that once their job is done and you're financially independent & are able to afford everything on your own you're parents shouldn't leave you a damn thing financially or otherwise.

I’ve met men that wanted me to struggle before they even took me out on a first date. This is why I don’t go out with every guy.. I talk to them first over the phone and they just start saying things and being that my father was a bum and we struggle pd growing up. He never worked and he was abusive. I just know the red flags. But my ex, oh he played me… he was a con artist. He knew I wouldn’t just take care of him so he had to devise a plan. He was older than me and when he stayed over for 4 days… a red flag went off but even before that. When I started doing better.. he just thought whatever I had, money etc, my time, energy, my place was going to be his. He wanted a lot of things. He just didn’t want to have to work for it. He stole from me, it was mess and he had another woman and a child. I was so mad at myself for rekindling, before I knew all of this… he just wanted to get back in my good graces to use me. She put him out and he came over to me. But he made it seem like he was just spending the night but he wasn’t. He wanted me to struggle until he figure out what he wanted to do with his life. And wanted me to weather the storms and carry all the weight and make sure he was good meanwhile I’m stressed, trying to get out the situation I’m in, live better and he wants me to do it alone, but give me fake support because he’s there meanwhile he wasn’t doing anything, and no care in the world. He wanted to be the woman in the relationship and sit back and receive and get taken care of. I put that lazy SOB out. My father wanted me to take care of him when I was younger, asking me for money, or any other woman. Disguise himself as a man when he was a abusive narcissistic bum.
