I personally dress modestly, -but I somewhat agree with tamera. I won’t judge the way others dress in church. I don’t know their story. Some people are new and don’t know much about church. We should be welcoming and glad they came at all. If the first thing we say to them is calling them out in a mean way, they won’t come back; they’ll assume the church is rude. God calls us to love. After they learn, they can adjust their attire if it’s inappropriate, in time.

@shekiera65 жыл бұрын
@Kayte Larsen you're still holding a woman accountable for a mans actions. 1. The bible tells us sin is not sin until sin is revealed. Some people/women rather come from a way of life where they don't have modest/ mother board clothing. Maybe they dont have skirts all they way down to the ankle, maybe they dont have collar shirts. And maybe they just came to christ and dont know better but just want to come to church. However in time they will grow. There is a difference in wearing what you have and actually planning in your heart to wear something to seduce a man. God sees and knows our hearts. 2. The bible also tells us to resist the devil and he will flee. Jesus went on a fast and the devil came to tempt him several times. Did Jesus sin? No he rebuked the devil! So if a woman or anybody is trying to make/tempt a person to sin it's our responsibility to say "no, I will not give in to what you are trying to tempt my flesh in to doing!" God tells us to die to our flesh daily meaning do not give in to temptation. So a woman can tempt a man but just like Jesus it's a mans responsibility to have the will power to say no I will not fall. Besides that everyone has different fetishes. So you may think you are dressed modestly but you have on open toe shoes and a man is lusting after your feet. How can a woman be responsible for tempting a man and not knowing whar he likes???everyone Is different and that would cause women to have to walk around covered from head to toe in sheets. Then you may have someone lusting after your eyes, we couldn't win for losing. When we get in the judgment line before God we all stand alone no one will be able to say well this person made me sin get them God! No God is going to handle each one of us alone and hold us individually accountable for our actions. So no ma'am let's not hold. Women responsible for what men do. Everyone is accountable for their own actions.

I will never forget when I arrived at church it seems as if I had no clothes on. Looking back I see why people where looking at me I had on a slight see through top with a short leather skirt I had not really known godliness at the time. Anyways, as I begin to grow spiritually and understand the word of God, my desires and appearance begin to change. So now when I see someone half dressed in church or out, I just pray for them because I do not known their heart or pain. God looks beyond our appearance and He seriously know why we do what we do and He is so kind and patient to work with us and through us. Also if God is going to use you for His glory in a mighty way I doubt if He will be okay with body parts being on display.

I dress modestly and don’t judge others like tamera said because we don’t know where they are at in life and with Christ. But Jeanie the Bible does say that we should be careful to not make others stumble. Instead of getting offended for what that lady told you, you should have talked to the lord about it and went into scripture or even could of had a conversation with the lady to try and understand where she was coming from. And we are accountable as a Christian our goal is to be welcoming to people in a way where they are going to feel comfortable because to be honest if you walk up to a church which I have and the pastor is wearing super tight clothes to the point where it catches people’s attention or if women are wearing short dresses with a lot of cleavage showing it is going to take people’s attention from the word which what the church should be focusing on showing instead of making it seem like it’s a fashion show because it’s not. For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13
@anastaciarose31715 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, it's only okay to "come as you are" if you're just starting, but you don't "stay as you are." As God transforms your inside, your outside gotta have that glow (appropriately) also. And if your "come as you are" is inappropriate, let it be that it's all you have... Don't choose to be inappropriate. & Jeanine, no you're not responsible for anyone stumbling... But as simple as dressing properly, you're doing the work of God, you're saving that soul. And as for the dress code part, from my point of view, you don't go to meet the president in jeans and sneakers, so don't go to Christ like that.

Shania Acker Girl stfu. Do you go to an office job dressed like you’re about to go to a club. Do you go to a job interview dressed like you’re going to a club. Do you go to funerals, weddings, or charities dressed like you’re going to a club? I highly doubt it and if you are, then your lack of respect for each individual occasion is typical of a trash human being. Why is it that any time the church has reason to defend its traditions, people like you are always so desperate to oppose it? If you’re a Christian, have some respect for your damn religion. It’s not that difficult.

1. The bible does not say come as you are. 2. Why is it that when we talk about church, everyone gets sensitive about judgement. LISTEN when you go to work or a court house there is a certain dress code of modesty and no one questions it, when we talk About dressing appropriately for church there is no consideration and everyone gets in their feelings. 3. If we're talking about people who are just starting to come to church then that's something I can understand that you don't want to judge them but if it's someone that's been coming to church for a while and they just don't care and no one is saying this is the way that you should be then there's a problem. As far as what Adrienne says about men, at the end of the day a man is a man and don't nobody want to see a woman shaking up herself with no tight dress on when you're trying to live for God and stay faithful to your wife or stay celibate until you get married, ain't nobody got time for that. Same goes for men ain't nobody want to see their balls poking out in tight pants. I'm sorry but we take things too far sometimes, like time always says it's not what you say but how you say it and at the end of the day we should be able to come to each other as brothers and sisters and say hey this is right or this isn't right. maybe buy them a skirt or dress that fits improperly instead of just bashing them and making them feel bad. Whatever you say and do just say it and love and people should be humble enough to take criticism in a loving way just like how they would have to take it at their job.

@oof84215 жыл бұрын
La-Neka Brown I really don’t think she meant it like that. For example, in the Old Testament it says you can’t wear clothing of 2 different materials (so you couldn’t wear wool and linen, and various other combinations). Obviously that doesn’t apply to now. This goes for many other verses, like a disabled/deformed person shouldn’t approach God, if you sin he’ll make you eat your children, and if you sin you should cut off your hand. Yes I’m cherry-picking verses to make a point but the situations in which God said you should follow certain rules don’t literally translate to now because society has evolved to be completely different. Although, the principles are still there. When you sin, give yourself a slap on the wrist instead of cutting off your whole hand. Did I explain myself well enough?

The old testament was a foreshadow for Jesus Christ...u still read and learn from the old testament but we use the new testament for how to behave and act...
@nonenewenski21365 жыл бұрын
Let’s be real...The truth is the way you act, speak and dress can have a huge impact on someone else’s behaviour. That’s why we encourage people not to be verbally abusive/bully because it can break someone’s spirit and cause them to harm themselves. Are we then going to say that everybody is only responsible for what they do and not how it affects the next person??? Come on. As soldiers, firemen and the police have a uniform that affects the way other “adults” behave around them, the way we choose to dress can affect the way people perceive and behave around us. “Come as you are” is not even the end of that biblical implication (because the statement itself it’s nowhere in the bible). The bible says “Come, let us reason together, though your sins be red as scarlet, they we will be white as snow”. This references a cleansing, a change. I.E if you really came to God, and not for yourself or just to “have a good time” you will not leave the same. Dress modestly y’all...in and out of church. As true ambassadors of Christ.

Adrienne said it. Those in ministry should dress modestly. Like someone on the praise team should not dress in a way to be a distraction. Save or not we are flesh. A man or woman can be distracted by what someone has on. And yes they have the choice to close their eyes and set their minds on Chirst. But at the end of the day why would someone in ministry still project the image of the world. God should be represented in lifestyle and not form or fashion only on Sundays.

Lol Tamera's raspberry thing was funny/cute hahahaha. Btw, I'm surprised no one commented on what Loni said about throwing out the Old Testament or whatever. We are in the New Covenant, yes, but that doesn't mean throw out an entire 3 quarters of the Bible. All of Jesus' teachings and parables were based on the Old Testament. He often expanded on them or explained them, because they were so misunderstood by His own people. There's some things in there we don't understand, but there's a lot of love and encouragement found in the Old Testament as well. When reading any portion of the Bible, it's important to understand the context! Context, and modern applicability. Things about how to dress in the OT were more pertaining to the high priest. God was very particular about what the high priest had to wear when ministering in the temple. I don't remember seeing anything in the OT about how the general congregation should dress. (Please correct me if I'm wrong. Am I the only one who doesn't see an angry God when I read the OT? Put things in perspective)

I had a related experience, not in church, but in a subway car earlier this summer which involved Christian faith and temptation. I keep myself covered in all seasons, and mostly enjoy wearing dresses, but also real denim (I dislike thin, elastic denim) when I do wear jeans. I button up my collared shirts. When men eyeball me and give negative attention, I sometimes pray and/or make the sign of The Cross. Sometimes they persist; sometimes, look or walk away. If The Bible says not to encourage temptation, God is always right! I might be wrong or sinning in wearing pants at all. As to Adrienne's point about our looks not being responsible for someone else's sin....well, it just reminded me of the story. One man who was sitting, but looking back toward the door I was standing against, saw me communing with The Lord, and felt *convicted* . He actually signed The Cross as well! He then hung his head into his hands and kept it there. 🙏 🙏 💙

At the end of the day, it’s important to be aware of what you wear. It’s church for God’s sake, not a club. There is nothing wrong with modesty, there is nothing wrong with adding flare and style. A matching purse or a cute jewelry set. I feel like people abuse the whole “God knows my heart.” Little by little we should become aware. Also don’t just throw away the Old Testament. That is crazy foolishness. You can’t just rip out parts of the Bible, the Bible is defined as a collection of books, you can’t just ignore the parts you don’t like 😑

I agree with Tam Tam on this one. Personally I like wearing dresses or skirts to church, but I will occasionally throw in pants every now and again. I think you should come as you are and one day as you continue your walk with Christ you will start dressing differently. For that woman to come up to Jeannie like that is simply unacceptable and that's how a lot of lost souls leave the church discouraged and don't come back. God calls us to love and sometimes you need to show love and let God do the work in that persons life before you see a change.

Modest, that is the way. Everything we do must be done in modesty to include dressing. We are all individually responsible for our actions, however we must also shun the very appearance of evil. Church is a holy place, a temple were we meet to worship the King of all kings. If we are going to visit a world leader we dress accordingly, how much more should we for our savior.

Can a Christian answer my question? Why isn't the old testament not regarded? Or as long said "throw out the old testament, don't go by it."
@VietglishFun5 жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm going to do my very best and hopefully it helps! So God gave us His Word to point is to Him. God gave us a law to follow and in every law you see His heart and His good character. Now because of the law, we realize that no one can achieve holding all of this and basically none of us are without sin (things that go against God's law or will). This is why we are in need of a Savior. That is Jesus. He was without sin and died as a ransom for our sins. So now those who, like many say, call Christ as their LORD and Savior, have their sins paid for and God is working in their hearts. With that said Christians are released from the law (Romans 7:6) because Jesus is the one who reigns over their life and not the law. Everything works together to point is all to Jesus. If you are a Christian, you are ransomed, bought with a price, freed from the law, and God will work on these people until they are righteous like Jesus, but those who do not know Christ are bound to sin (the law reveals our sin). I know that was long, thank you for reading it through, but I hope it answers your question! If you want to go to the Bible for it I recommend Romans. I'm currently trying to read the Bible cover to cover and everything makes a lot of sense now that I read Romans to Revelation first. Now I'm reading from Genesis to Revelation. Let me know if you have any more questions! God bless 😁😁

The old Testament is good be teaching. It shows us the history of our religion and reveals the Character of God. It shouldn't be "thrown out or disregarded." We just don't live by the law anymore, but by Grace.
@ArmednotTriggered5 жыл бұрын
To expand on what has already been said, the Bible is made up of two convenants. In the Old Testament, animal sacrifices were made to atone for sins. Since these sacrifices were imperfect, many of them were needed and people had to be ceremonially cleansed in addition to these animal sacrifices. This is where the verses about not eating bacon or mixing fabrics are relevant because people needed to be physically clean to abide by the ceremonial laws. But when Jesus came and died for our sins, He was the ultimate sacrifice. He was perfect and spotless. He defeated death, hell, and the grave. Therefore, His sacrifice abolished the need for ceremonial law because he completed it and established a new convenant. We can now eat bacon and seafood and wear cotton blends without losing our salvation. The moral laws of the Old Testament are still relevant; however, like the Ten Commandments. It can be confusing, but it's all about context and knowing which laws still apply. I hope that helps. 😊
@vanessaveiga92575 жыл бұрын
I'll try to keep it short. The old testament is also the old covenant. In the old covenant we had a debt before God so we had to sacrifice animals to pay for our sins. So each time you sin you needed to sacrifice and the animals were not eternal sacrifice only temporary. In the new testament is the ew covenant. It starts with Jesus, because now the sacrifice is Holy and eternal, it's literally God dying for us. so all those who believe in him have forgiveness. Now the old testament had laws because if you break one law your sinning The new testament there's no need for the laws because Jesus covers you. There's only the holy Spirit and the word of the new testament that is all about teaching and advice. The holy spirit let's you know when something isn't right or is. Now. I encourage you to read the new testament, you can start in John cause the first 4 books are the same story. It will blow your mind!! Especially Romans! It gets me so hyped when I read Romans cause all the weight of shame and condemnation is no more because we don't have the weight of sin on us anymore. The Jews still live in the old covenant because they don't believe Jesus is the son of God but they're sacrifices stopped because when Jesus died on the cross supernaturally the place of sacrifice split in half by an earthquake. The end of times is when they restore it and they will do their sacrifices again. That's been thousands of years.
