These ladies need to apologize for saying she was complaining, and being insensitive. Constance was sexually assaulted which was the real reason she was upset the 6th season renewed. She was extremely depressed and trying to move on from that show when they pulled the rug out from under her like that after making it seem they would end on the 5th season. It's gross to think we haven't progressed as humans at all to not be judging people no matter why they're upset.

OMG - you wonder why kids and young adults these days are so upset they get a little critique. She wasn't being disrespectful - she was being human. Have you all read twitter? It's not just a place for smiles and laughter - it's a place to be human. It would be different if she was being racist, a bigot, etc. but she wasn't. I personally like her realness - too much fakeness out there these days. I'm not a huge fan of the show - sure some will say it's battling discrimination with wit and humor but I think it's perpetuating certain stereotypes. If you don't like what she is tweeting, just don't follow or read - thumbs up to those who unfollowed her. Action > words. I've had to give up certain side projects that could have stretched me more in my career... but I had to turn them down because they don't provide the stability that I want (others may have made a different choice) that I have in my current job. I'm grateful for having a stable job but I was extremely upset that I had to turn the other projects down - perhaps she could have just left the show? But then some of you would have said she was being selfish and not thinking about her other cast members (as if we should be responsible for others' careers) - just move on and hopefully you won't get typecasted... because this is such a wonderful show for the Asian community ;) It would be interesting to survey only Asian Americans and get their thoughts on the show - not the entertainment value but the impact on perceptions, etc. I will be more impressed when there's an Asian TV show that is a drama. Final thought - for those who have kids, the real world is not about rainbows and unicorns... it's not OK to be a bully but ensure they realize life is not fair, they will have their feelings hurt, not everyone is going to praise them, trying your best doesn't mean automatic success/praise/rewards/raises, etc.

@John Johnson I don't think it's about any of that. For one, her initial responses just came off rude and nasty. And just plain bitter. What was she so mad about? Ok, she might not have liked the show, but you don't react that way. And who's to say she'll be a bigger star off of the show? Things don't always pan out that way in Hollywood and in acting in general. Your next gigs might not come along for quite a while. Then what? What if her projects going forward don't hit like they're suppose to, and she's at even more of a loss? Cause it may not be the network or studio's money, but her pockets that take the hit. The lesson here I think is to be grateful for the blessings you get, cause it didn't have to be you and it can all be gone in an instant too.

As rude as she was, maybe the reason why she's acting out (excuse the pun) is because its so hard for her to get roles as an Asian actress, particularly roles that challenge her artistically. Maybe she wants to strike now while the iron is hot, because who knows when else she'll be popular enough to break the mold by getting non-stereotypical roles for an Asian actors. Her current role is pretty stereotypical and she has to use an Asian accent for it, so maybe she's tired of it and wanted something less stereotypical that challenges and showcases her artistry more. Another unknown Asian actor probably might not even get the other role she was considering, because she's the first big Asian actress so a lot of roles are being given to her now that normally would not be given to an Asian person. But I do think (and hope) she will still have opportunities to play other roles once her show ends, and she'll probably be even more popular then.

People do not understand. That what she is saying is that she already had something that she was about to start filming. The studio was silent about what was going on with the show. So the second she she got the news. The studio told her that she can start filming “fresh off the boat” in 2 weeks or they can replace her with somebody else who would jump at the opportunity. So yes she does have right to be upset, that the studio was not willing to compromise. Remember when The ladies on the real all knew about Tamar being removed, but pretended like they did not know or had a hand in it. That right there is classic Hollywood for you. The same thing happened to Leah on the the show “the talk”. Evil comes in all genders

patricia gatlin the real is one of those house wife shows. You have the one who thinks she is the captain of the group who acts like she is above the rest, the one who is down but doesn’t want to be to down for them all. The idiot dramatic one who loves to cry a lot. And the one who is in a relationship with a man she stole from another woman. Tamar was that oh hell no woman of the group.

It's so stupid why some people think it's a good idea to vent your feelings in Twitter, especially if you're a public figure.

I agree with A, i don’t care if she meant it or not, or if that would make her ungrateful or not. You coulda saved yourself a whole lot of headache by just not tweeting. U already on your phone, send a text. You don’t have friends u trust like that call your mom!!! Like girl... there are options.

I refuse to believe that the poised and brilliant Gemma "accidentally" liked that loaded tweet in particular. Maybe other random tweets, but not that one. When there's smoke, there's a fire. I believe Constance is genuinely upset because she has to give up another job which is human of her but it's an incredibly selfish way of thinking considering that it means the staff gets to keep their jobs and feed their families and a meaningful show with Asian representation gets to stay on when every other show gets cancelled (e.g. Latina representation Devious Maids); a normal person would think twice before saying anything negative. This behaviour is so normal for her that she thought people would be sympathetic to her being wronged or whatever.

@@joannajones1457 Nah mate. I think she should be allowed to leave if it upsets her that much, I believe she should be allowed to be happy in her job as we all are, but my point is the way she initially reacted ONLY thought of herself. Not an ounce of congratulations, gratitude or careful thought. I would have completely sympathised if she worded her heartbreak in a meaningful tweet about losing another project while expressing she's happy for the show. But it's more of like right away "Omg poor me! This effin sucks! No, this renewal is not great news!!"

Eh give Constance Wu the benefit of the doubt. She’s an awesome actress, from everything I’ve seen she’s an awesome person and quite frankly it’s unfair that she has to carry Asian representation on her back if that makes sense. I love Fresh off the Boat but it is a rather limiting role. Her character rally doesn’t get to grow much so I can understand being frustrated by having to remain in that role as opposed to doing your dream role. I think y’all are just mad because an Asian woman isn’t being super submissive and ‘proper’
@tiffanykim27735 жыл бұрын
That's beside the point. Hollywood is cut throat af there already aren't enough roles for minorities and when something pops up they give it to a white person. Be angry, be upset just don't tweet it or talk about it or make it hella public. Figure it out in private. She could damage her whole career from this even if the truth is deeper than we can see.

I’m cool with someone else carrying our representation on their back. Btw what u think as submissive and being “proper” we consider as gratitude for having a job that pays us well.

I heard Constance was actually supposed to be part of the MCU, but with FOTB filming she can’t do it anymore. She’s entitled to feel that way.
@chouree095 жыл бұрын
I think it’s sad and sucks that you can’t express how you feel without being lashed at. It’s great that there is representation in the media. I’m Asian and I am so proud of my roots but I understand where wConstance is coming from. I agree that she shouldn’t of posted that. But I also have experience where I was given an opportunity bc I was the minority. Sometimes being given an opportunity does not mean you are growing, being fulfilled internally despite the popularity and you are gaining traction and $$$$. I can see why she wanted to do other projects that would help her grow as an artist, and not just take on projects focusing solely on the Asian narratives.. you see actors/ artists that never grow out of the characters and role they take on. She wants to do bigger and more things than just FOTB.
