@@psalm271-3 Brilliant. I recommend you watch them with your kids. Let them know you are taking this seriously, and you're not just making up rules willy-nilly. You're getting expert advice to follow. You follow the rules. They follow the rules. Definitely watch that chapter I gave you the link to WITH your children. There's no better lesson I teach. It teaches what the gateway behavior to all "bad" (leading to unhappiness) behaviors are, and how to solve it. It's NOT click bait to get you to do anything more. It's a complete lesson. Good luck!

I'm not a parent but I'm an older sister of my brother and sister. I want to help make my siblings life better cause my parents don't do anything to help them. When my siblings wants something from my parents they only yell at them and even curse at them and I'm very sad about it.

Hi Gummy. It's really nice of you to want to help. While it's not your job to be their parent, you can still take more responsibility than you are obligated to take and help your siblings see the truth of who they are, and how to overcome the damage that is caused by angry parents. Here are the resources we have that you can use -- many of them are free. This is something you can watch with your siblings so YOU don't have to be the parent. You can just be the older sister. Greg made a Master Index reallove.com/master-index/ from all the books, blogs, etc. Refer to it a lot. Hi Michelle. This is Donna, Greg's wife. I'll respond to your comment. I think that's brilliant. Make it happen! Make it fun! It might not work out the way you want the first time you try, but keep going. I can picture you ending up with enough kids to play soccer, or baseball, or join an orienteering group. Maybe other parents will get involved. In the winter you can snowshoe, or make snow angels, or learn how to make an igloo. You can do service projects together (see JustServe.org for ideas). Start a FB group page for the parents of your child. Share the responsibilities, and then EVERYONE will be happier. What a sweet way to help make the world a better place.

Hi Otmane. Bless your heart. I'm glad that YOU see the dangers so you don't get trapped by them. Show your brothers this video, and see if talking with them about it helps. It might. It might not. Don't lose hope, and don't be overly pushy. Just love and love and love and then teach them if they'll listen.

Hi Mikey. Sounds like his coming of age might show him some of the disabilities that come from phone addiction (even overuse). There are lots more to come if he doesn't break free of it. If you talk with him about it, stop if you start feeling angry. You can pick up the conversation again (and should have lots of conversations about this with him) when your tone is sincerely interested in his well-being. He may not trust you, or your attempts to help, but that's your job/privilege. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Good for you, Sitamata. You're doing lots things right and you see what's next for you. You'll know when you've got a possible solution when you're not so stressed and defeated feeling. How old is your son? Keeping a child busy is partly their job, depending on their age. It's not just your job. Independent play is vital for them to learn.

Just entered the teen realm and this summer I plan to try my best to set routines (chores, goals, fine-tune real-world skills) as well as being a screen police. I realized that being strict is also a form of love and it’s necessary given the times we live in. The entitled sense of immediate gratification I believe is the lion to be tamed. I must thank you for your video/help. It’s greatly appreciated and I’m sure I will revisit it frequently.

@@Sitamata You're right about all of it. You HAVE to add love, or it will just feel like a punishment and all the learning and experience you're hoping for your son will be muted, at best. We have a LOT of free resources you can use. Consider involving your son with what you learn here, meaning, watch the videos on KZbin with him, and do all your learning with him, so he doesn't think you're willy-nilly making decisions. If you are BOTH working a plan, designed to help him, he'll respect the plan more. Basically, what's it in for him. Start with this dialog. Share it with him. Transparency. Hi Sitamata. I was thinking about your comment and I experimented with something. I used my free AI accounts and asked for suggestions on how to keep children of a certain age occupied. I received countless ideas, along with lists of things needed for those activities - what to wear depending on the weather if they were outdoor activities, and what else would be helpful such as snacks, tools, etc. Then I realized that 'planning activities' could also BE an activity in itself. What a great life lesson in preparing for summer activities! This skill will serve them well in school and life. Moreover, using AI for this is a brief screen-time activity that might soothe the withdrawal from having screens removed.

If I was your son I'd obey you to the max, You are the one that is in total control. Everyday, I'd come home from school and the 1 st thing I do, is give you my phone...don't want any distractions, then I do my homework, then all the chores for that day, which must be done to your satisfaction. Then do whatever you tell me to do with no back talk or arguing. On the weekends, I'd do what you want me to do, Before I have my "Free time"
