In 2023, Sgt. Ethan Newberg of the Baltimore Police Department pled guilty to misconduct in office-a charge he was initially given four years before. Now, body camera footage of one of Newberg's nine known illegal arrests has been recovered by Police Accountability Report. The video shows Newberg escalating a parking ticket given to a FedEx driver to the arrest of a bystander who attempted to intervene on his coworker's behalf. But Newberg didn't stop there-he even contacted FedEx in an effort to get the man he was arresting fired. Taya Graham and Stephen Janis discuss the case and the lengthy investigation and trial process that followed, throwing light on just how difficult it really is to hold police accountable for abuses of power.

Unfortunately, Those are very true words. It's one reason that I always suggest people record the encounter quietly if they can, not use profanity, or raise their voice with an officer even if you know what they are doing is illegal, you can calmly state it but don't try to litigate it on the street because an officer can still effect an arrest and the process will most likely harm you rather than him/her. Now this officer was charged with misconduct in office because he violated the FedEx driver's rights, and he was recently found guilty, but the driver is the one who suffered since 2019 because of his actions. Thanks for taking the time to comment! taya@@mikemactavish1665

The cop was 100% correct. These two men feel they deserve special parking privileges even in their private vehicles. And when they didn’t get it…because as the officer tried to explain..the ticket was already being written…(and he has bosses and job rules to follow). The man didn’t care about the explanation and he and then his friend started to yell at,swear at, and insult the police officers who were doing the jobs they are paid to do. *If the 2 fedx employees can’t control themselves or behave professionally when in public.. or after one of them breaks the law…they should not be employed at a job where they deal with the public. They were not the victims here…they were spoiled entitled Adult-children throwing temper tantrums. And the cop had to put him in his car for a time out…so the man could suck his thumb and cool down like a toddler.

@@mmblue3986 What about the other 8 illegal arrests? The first driver was clearly wrong, just park and walk the 50 feet or so. The second drive expressed his opinion, whether it was correct or not doesn't matter, he has the right to do so and when asked to leave he did. The butt hurt cop was clearly abusive, as the guilty verdict proves.

Speaking of which... besides the fact that you're absolutely right and the fact that it's the same all over the world with looking cops in the eye, I'd like to ask you a question if I may. Recently, I've seen a number of videos in 😅which the cop or cops who are arresting someone say "Don't look at me." I've never heard this until about six months ago and am asking if you know what their ridiculous reason for this may be? I'm not referring to the cops telling someone not to turn around while they're putting on handcuffs. This is something completely different and can occur at any time during the arrest. I know that making eye contact with cops is a VERY bad idea, but the thing I'm talking about is just plain strange!! Thanks in advance for any information you can give me!!

Reminds me of what is happening to many of the J6-ers, some of who were not even there. If you disagree, it is only because you haven't truly looked into what actually happened, rather you watched the sham trials filled with false info., as is now being proven. You do not look into such because you can then feign ignorance - although the proof is so evident that you'd trip over it, otherwise. That goes for you, and all others hiding behind a thin curtain called obfuscation, for only by clouding the issue (any of many issues) in your own mind are you able to arrive at such convoluted conclusions.

@@michaeldunar8986...I agree with you...he most certainly would have done the same no matter the color. Personally I am real sick of the whining racist crap. Both my current husband and my late husband (who I was married to for over 39 years) were badly beaten by cops. My late husband was beaten because he didn't get out of town soon enough...he stopped to buy a burger along his way. He was a traveling preacher at the time, crossing county on foot, preaching, in search of those who would believe and had a sign saying REPENT on his backpack. Cops of that town didn't like it, arrested him and beat the crap out of him after they had him in a jail cell. Held him overnight then the next day took him to the edge of town and told him to keep going. That was when in his early thirties... nearly 40 years ago. My current husband, when in his thirties was so badly beaten by the cops the judge dropped all charges, even though my husband broke one of the cops nose in the struggle. That cop plus others took him down because he turned away from them when they called him over to their patrol car. He was black and blue from ankles to face. The judge...in court...made the cops uncuff him...His hands cuffed to his waist... because she saw how messed up his face was. Both my husbands were white men, and both unjustly arrested and beaten, and both were, and are, good men. Men I am proud to have as my husband. I too am white. Color does not make a difference...the evil are evil to all equally.

One thing that bothers me about these events is that it seems when one cop does the wrong thing, the others back him up. They never ask what's going on, they never say the first cop is wrong. They just back the first cop's play. And if the rare discipline is ever meted out, it's usually only to the first cop, not to the others who abetted him.

The January 6th conspiracy by labelling what was mostly a peaceful protest against an obviously stolen election as an insurrection, was the police state baring its teeth against we the people. In collusion with the big tech companies who gave the feds the location of the protestors without telling the thousands of people who were illegally arrested just for being at the Capitol, shows how deep the anti American conspiracy is. This evil government is out of control and the police state nightmare of Orwell is here and only going to get worse, they’re the enemy within, forget the propaganda about Russia or North Korea, the enemy is the federal government.
