Unfortunately, as numerous peer-reviewed studies have concluded, law enforcement overwhelmingly attracts individuals with Right-wing Authoritarianism (the personality type as defined by Robert Altemeyer). Look that up and the associated behaviors and it explains perfectly why police behave like the do... People with RWA: 1) Authoritarian Submission: blindly submitting to authority without thought or question (this is why cops follow any order blindly) 2) Authoritarian Aggression: displaying intolerance, aggression, and/or violence toward anyone who doesn't blindly submit like they do or who they perceive as violating the status quo/a hatred for change and novelty at the micro and macro level (this is why cops become instantly aggressive when someone affirms their rights, because they LITERALLY cannot comprehend why someone wouldn't just submit like they would) 3) Obsession with Punishment: people with RWA are obsessed with punishment and constantly claim that harsher punishments are needed. The particularly desire extremely harsh punishment for relatively minor offenses (e.g. Drug prohibition). People with RWA admit to gaining personal pleasure from inflicting punishment 4) Hypocracy: People with RWA feel they are exempt for the laws they inflict upon others. They commonly speak out of both sides of their mouth. There are many more characteristics, but these paint a perfect picture of the typical cop.... It's basically a situation in which law enforcement overwhelmingly attracts individuals who are the worst possible candidates for the position... In other words, anyone who wants to be a cop, should never be one... Anyone who wants authority should never be given authority. It also shows that it isn't that these cops have been corrupted by power, rather they were already corrupt before becoming cops, and because they were already corrupt, they south out authority. The pervasiveness of this psychology demonstrates why no amount of additional training or even body cams have fixed the problem, and that the root of the problem is that people who seek out positions of authority should never be allowed to have them.

I am watching this from England with eyes wide open, as these quasi military police officers are carrying more hardware than I ever did during 10 years service as a Royal Marine, at home and in many other countries. It wouldn't surprise me if I saw police helicopters overhead and armoured cars on the ground.

The charges were a lie. How does this man stay in jail for 57 days. Why have law enforcement when they do not enforce law. They know putting someone away makes them compliant by force. These officers need to go over to Russia or North Korea. I can't understand what any of the many oversight committees actually do.

It's the private for profit prison system. They need to have at least 90% capacity to turn a profit. They use the legislature to pass unconstitutional laws that criminalize victimless normal human behavior to make sure they keep full. Police, DA's, and judges are all in on the system.

Throwing a man in jail and keeping him there for 57 days, causing his wife to be thrown out on the street homeless, all because a Sheriff with the emotional maturity of a five year old got angry at the fact that he couldn't get them into the premises to conduct an illegal search. With the right lawyer he should be able to take the taxpayers in that town to the cleaners. It's just a pity that the real criminals in this story likely won't be touched in any way.

They expect you to comply with coercion and when you know the law and counter unlawful reasoning, that's when they use violence instead of recognizing their limits. They can shove 'plausible deniability'. It's their CHOICE and they choose to be criminals bc there's no price to pay. It's backwards when law enforcers are completely lawless.

Also, this guy needs to start attending city council (or whatever they've got) meetings. I saw a lady doing this when I was applying for a permit to get married in a small town park many years ago. She had a problem where a young cop in town threatened and hurt a family member, it got brushed under the rug by the mayor and the police chief but it was clearly a situation where the cop crossed a line. I got the impression watching her that affording a lawyer was not in the cards. So she brought it to attention at every single subsequent meeting. You could feel the cringe wafting off the council members hearing the story again, and my family member (a way old former mayor actually) who lives there told me that she eventually got that cop to leave the dept. His career was absolutely nuked by this little old poor lady who just wouldn't shut up.

@@daithi1966 that was King Solomon and it was said with intent. A real mother would gladly surrender her child opposing the life of the child to be extinguished. The woman who was seeking the child lost her child at birth. The actual mother surrendered her child. Then King Solomon awarded the actual mother her child. Reasons for the brutality stems from the blessing of wisdom by God. Which the intent was never to severe the child. To find out who was truly the mother. Rather high IQ decision I might say.
