I couldn’t imagine having a bari sax *SECTION* in your band. We don’t even march a bari at my school, and I have to go back and forth between being the only tenor sax and one of the only Sousas.

From someone who has no idea about band culture: Why are they doing this? _How_ are they doing this? Are they remembering every single move AND every bit of music they have to play? And wouldn't that mean that all the instructors are likely extremely strict to insure a high level of tightness? The instrument choices; for something so heavily dominated by horns and percussion, vast amount of clarinettists and flutes are needed to balance the sound, right? Why have them? Don't get me wrong, this is flippin amazing, but also insanely confusing as to why, how and for what.

We have a marching band show every season, our individual movements creates a big image We memorize every note in the music and every move, it takes months to build up Music isnt the hardest thing to memorize. Some directors are strict but I dont think being very strict is required to have the band to do well, but we have to be hard working and disciplined We have woodwinds because we are amazing and marching band need us LOL
@FootCraft Жыл бұрын
@@ivyart123 As a woodwind, that's amazing cause it means more possible opportunities, and thanks for the information ‼️
@ivyart123 Жыл бұрын
Normal high school marching bands use woodwinds but Drum corps is all brass. DCI (Drum corp international) is outside of school professional marching band organizations
@plexquared1877 Жыл бұрын
flutes and clarinets are likely in high school and college bands partially because many kids and students are playing those normally, and also just for a more diverse sound
@lgilbert992 ай бұрын
Why? Three reasons. Choosing the most difficult challenge at that age, individual pride as a member of the marching community and playing for the football team was the easy way out.
