It was actually pretty good. I had zero knowledge going into the course. I didn’t have any shooting experience at all. All the people in the class just wanted to join a shooting club. I was the only one looking to change my career into some sort of law enforcement. We practiced a lot of the handling of each firearm. I almost got prefect on both practical exams. Because there’s a lot of information during the 3 days, I found it difficult to retain the course material, however I passed both written exams!!! I’m also looking Into CBSA opportunities so fingers crossed for the both of us!!!

I wouldnt say go into your test with absolutely no knowledge but videos like this are definitely something you can do to have some understanding of safe practices so you can go in confidently in case your one of those people who are intimidated by tests and testing even purchasing or go online and read the cfsc and crfsc handbook on hard copy or pdf format.

Thanks for the test prep, going for mine this Friday/Saturday (non-restricted). Could you or one of your subscribers tell me why smokeless powder is not safe in a Muzzle Loader, please? [ question @ 5:58 ] So you don't have to type a long answer, I'm aware of the following rules to properly load the M.L. type - the old black powder is far more volatile, to measure the exact amount, to use a smaller receptacle so as to not ignite the whole can, and to use a percussion cap before loading it (and occasionally after firing) to ensure there's no flammable residue. I saw a demo of how the smokeless powder burns vs the old powder - so I understand the two different requirements. But if one were to load smokeless powder into a M.L.instead of old powder, and I can see why it would be ineffective, but not unsafe. It burns slower, it's less percussive, so what makes it 'unsafe'? Inappropriate, perhaps, but 'safely' is a stretch, isn't it? Somebody please prove me wrong? Thank you!

The test is wrong. There are and have been rifles that were revolvers. (see Colt relvolving rifle, but maybe there never any in Canada, unlikely) While generally it is not a good idea to store ammo in a sealed metal container, it is not exactly true. Military ammuntion is shipped and stored in sealed metal containers, rather like a large can of sardines. You can also store it if there is a dessicant to absorb any condensation. But it is a government test so they get to decide what is true or not reguardless of accuracy.

@@juq15 yeah they’ll have a table of guns and ask you to pick up certain ones and do stuff with em. Usually proper unloading and stuff. Unfortunately I fucked up at the start because while under pressure I forgot to remove the magazine of a loaded pistol.

Didnt study at all, ive spent some time around firearms and at the range with my father from a young age. But you have to pay attention in class and handle all the firearms they want you to in a manner that is safe. I dont think its hard but it is very important

Yes, if the air gun can shoot beyond 500 feet per second it’s classified as a firearm therefore you need a PAL.

No one failed in my class. Honestly I think you'll do fine. Everything I learned was in the class. Just make sure you follow along and ask questions if you're unclear of something

Have not seen anyone fail, the instructors are very friendly and helpful, they want everyone to be safe and pass but will also fail you if they need to. That being said, they are not hard courses just pay attention and have them clarify any questions or concerns you may have.

@@wh9771 That particular test was not done up by the RCMP but someone else. I'm a firearms safety course instructor in SK and some of the wording on the BC exam we all saw is not word for word that you can find online on the RCMP's website. Just so you know!

You will practice on decommissioned firearms so you know how to safely handle, load, and unload them but will not be fireing them. After you are comfortable doing so. One of the final tests is a hands-on practical for unrestricted and restricted firearms as well as a written test for each

Who ever is at the range must have the proper licence status for whatever firearm you will be handling and must be within arms reach [ in SK] to safely guide your barrel muzzle in case you don't always have it pointed down range.

Yes it is possible. But you will also learn everything in this quiz in the course and do fine as well. The quiz will just help going in, but if you have no knowledge of firearms then I would just wait and take the course as you will be taught everything

Unrestricted is on shot guns and rifles, mainly hunting firearms. Restricted are hand guns, pistols and such
