He visited my church when I was about eight years old and I have been trying to play like him ever since and the was 25 years ago... Changed my life I still play in church... He took time to talk to a eight year old kid for about an hour he's a class act...

Amen Joseph. He played at my church 25 hrs ago. He was the same with me. Took time to show me a few licks. His version of How Great Thou Art is still one of my favorites. A humble man and class act!

I met Doyle in New Orleans after Katrina. He was such a genuine man with his faith. He put on concerts at Guitar centers on the Gulf Coast. And in churches around Baton Rouge. Such a pro with his guitar skills. He introduced me to the enjoyment of guitar picking. I'm glad to hear him and share on these KZbin videos.

Doyle Dykes... the one man band. He hit everything but the drums and lyrics. A M A Z I N G ! ! ! Because he is a devout Christian, and plays mostly churches, music seminars, and music shows like NAMM, he is not as widely known as some other guitarist. His talent is mostly unknown except by other guitarist, and by people that attend churches where he has performed. He came to a church that I attended back in 1982, and I was blown away. He is a very kind and humble man, that God has blessed with a tremendous talent, and the work ethic to learn what he knows. God bless you Doyle Dykes.

Doyle went to collage with my church'es pastor, so he comes here a lot. He played this tune for us, He it in a medley with "Simple Man, first then "Free Bird" and ended with a little "sweet Home Alabama" . It is the only time I have ever cried over a tune in my life.

I recently sat down the other night and taught myself Tennessee Stomp that Doyle does. One thing that really surprised me was just how easy some of his tunes were so easy to learn once I figure out the tuning. Wabash Cannonball as an example. I grew up playing with standard tuning and play a pretty cook version of it, but once I leaned about open and drop tuning, a whole new world open up and now I play Wabash Cannonball super fast and with a whole bunch of new licks that just aren't possible using a standard tuning.

Philip and kenneth.......I was fortunate enough to meet Doyle and run the sound at two different clinics he put on for a store I'd worked at. Not too many people can see the statement you've made about him being one of the best on the planet but you're absolutely correct by my own experience with him. I'm talking just skill level and not aided by technology overload and wanking around. There's a reason he was called to play guitar at Chet Atkins memorial when he passed away. Chet thought, heard and saw what you do too....... Just one of the very best bar none......

that is one ugly sounding guitar. Too much treble making it sound tinny
@RU-HDD-4-HVN7 жыл бұрын
Jerry.......There's other factors involved here...come on you should know that if you have any clue. If someone used a potato to record a symphony it would still sound like a potato was used...right? Is it the way the symphony really sounded (if you get the picture) or were there other factors involved in what you were hearing?
@jerryhubbard44617 жыл бұрын
I understand the cheap recording but this guitar is still tinny sounding. Very little bottom end sound. But then, I have never been a Guild or Ovation person. The only reason Doyle plays them is the contract money and sponsership. Goyle is a great player, no doubting that.
