Indeed. Cause singleplayer and early multiplayer games sales were based on it's quality and playability. Now you can show down throat any number of DLC/micropayments/pay-towin and noone is wiser, as there's no much alternative. Everyone went down the toilet with quality and new-ultra-tech does not give justice to the game it that is lacking the vibe.

I remember as a teenager I had a Dreamcast and got Quake 3 in my hands. It was a hell of a game and a great introduction to arena shooters. I enjoyed it very much but I got Unreal Tournament maybe a couple months later. I still loved Quake but something about UT kept me playing for months and months on end. It wasn't so much that it was a better game because they were practically even in those regards. Neither had more interesting characters to me and the weapons on each game were about the same, too. It was years later I understood the power of a great game soundtrack and while Quake 3 had a good one, I don't even remember any of the tracks. UT always stuck in my head and kept me coming back just to play the space levels and hear music like this. It was teenage life so of course it was "troubled" and filled with confusion. Something about this kind of music helped me settle the dust. I could never forget it or even have a music collection without this song or others like Foregone Destruction and Botpack 9.

LAN gaming was the best. Being able to play with your best buddies in the same house on different PC's. Everyone owned their own physical copy of the game. They really don't do gaming like they used to, and it's not necessarily for the better that things have changed in so many ways.

Very few people realize just how masterfully crafted these tracks are, not only for the listener, but also the player. Like most ut99 tracks, this one starts slow and gradually picks up. The player is still usually in base gearing up at this time. This track was made for lava giant, and about a minute in is when the track picks up, this is usually when the enemy gets first spotted by the player. Snipers and shock rifles start going off. Then towards the middle it slows down again. Usually the player is picking up the enemy flag or just killed or got killed by the initial encounter at this point.

It would only have taken a min or two to read. I wanted it to be perfect.... It was about done. Then... I made a keyboard mistake. It got erased. No UNDO button in KZbin. They track all our keystrokes. Whoa. Almost made the same mistake... In very short. UT99 is my favorite as well. I never was able to use the TP effectively. I liked and was good at the CTF low grav instagib game format. Boosting team players across the map. That's the one paragraph/short version of what i wanted to say.
