I was also a home schooler, and started ebay to sell home school curriculum for myself and my friends. Now I sell clothes, fabric, and vintage items mostly.
@TheRebelReseller3 жыл бұрын
EBay is definitely the best place to sell curriculum I think. I think many resellers start with that one niche we are most comfortable with and then branch out. Mine was toys and my husband has helped me get into other categories.

Hi Rebel, I've watched a bunch of your videos over the past week or two, but hadn't had time to sit down and comment. I love that I found your channel while it's still relatively new, but that you have over twenty years of reselling experience to share. I'm a booktuber (youtuber) who recently "took over" our ebay store that my husband started about 6 years ago. He was tired of doing it and hadn't done anything with it in about a year. I retired from Disney at the beginning of the year and recently decided that I should try to revive our store. I love to see how people store their inventory and I especially love seeing your inventory. Toys are much more interesting and fun than the clothes that most reseller youtubers sell. In our store we have books, hardware and random things, but since I've been running our store I've been listing a lot of scrapbook supplies. Now, I'm going to go back and rewatch more of your videos and make some more comments. Thanks for taking time to show us your incredible business.
@TheRebelReseller3 жыл бұрын
What an amazing career you must have had with Disney. It is probably all glorified in my mind as I picture myself being surrounded by toys, lol. I think reselling is an excellent opportunity to live a life of your own making too. I've focused intensely on growing my business even more as I want to "retire" in about 4 years and travel - and source along the way. And make videos of course. I'm hoping to get more into books next year. What I've learned is that you should know your own niche but be diversified enough to bring all kinds of buyers into your store. My husband has been amazing at helping me do that this past year. Watching youtubers also has definitely increased my knowledge on things to look for. If you haven't already subscribed to Bolo Buddies, definitely check her out. She does tons of videos on Bolos - Be on the look out . Thanks so much for all the comments you've been leaving. I love learning about the people who are watching me. I already feel like I've made some friends here.

I love this! I am a teacher, a realtor, and run a 4k item ebay store. (Don't ask how I do all 3...it is crazy.) I have waaay messier work and inventory areas that my goal for 2023 is to change to something like yours so I can increase sales and "retire" to reselling full time. Also, have been buying plush like crazy since binge watching all you videos:) Unfortunately I lost my loving husband of 38 years 6 months ago suddenly to a rare form of lukemia. I enjoy watching the truly beautiful relationship you and Robert have and seeing how much you enjoy working together and spending quality time with family. I am in Arizona but if I ever get to Tenessee I would love to attend one of your meet ups. Blessings...Becky (The Cactus Closet on ebay)

I wish I had the space you have, I only have a tiny room which is filling up very fast with plush, I get sacks of unsorted plush for £5 a sack UK and there’s assorts in them, 5 sacks at a time is a lot of teddies, I love getting surprises though, I found 2 vintage cindy dolls in 1 bag and sold them today for £55 that paid for all the sacks and more, I wish you luck in your selling adventure 😁
@TheRebelReseller3 жыл бұрын
It would be difficult to store a lot of plush in a limited space. One way to deal with space issues is to work on faster turnover. I don't like to do auctions because the selling price seems to be lower for regular plush, but it might help you turn your inventory faster and keep your storage requirements lower. I do use auctions for more rare items because there is more demand than supply and you can sometimes get higher selling prices. I also sometimes use them when I can't get good comps on items and think it may be worth a good bit of money to the right buyers.

best way to clean plush with tags? like store tags
@TheRebelReseller Жыл бұрын
If it is very dirty, then I just remove the tags and wash in the washing machine if it can. If it can't be washed in the washing machine, then do your best to hand wash. I have tons that need hand washed and I tend to just set them aside.... for later.

Would it be helpful to have a system where you can scan the bar code and the item andd it would map its location?> on lets say an ipad? The amount of time saved would make up for the cost of the system right?
@TheRebelReseller11 ай бұрын
This is one of our older videos, from nearly three years ago now. Since that time we have implemented a lower tech version of your idea. We have numbered labels that go on every item and that number is entered into the custom sku field on ebay and our listing spreadsheet. We use the ebay app when pulling our items and that field is visible so it makes finding the right item easy. Pretty much what you suggested, just without the barcode and ipad. It was one of Robert's ideas to help him make sure he was pulling the right blue lovey from a basket with 20 blue loveys in it. We will be doing an updated video about how we store and track our inventory in the near future. Thanks for watching.

Gross. My ebay selling costs run about 40-45%. The other platforms are less. I keep my cost of goods very low. Out of the remaining I deduct other expenses (mileage, internet, supplies, etc) needed to run my business. We don't have any debt except out mortgage. We are not rich, but we are comfortable and I absolutely love our life. Hope that helps!
