In this video titled EU4 1.33 Hungary Guide - PU EVERYONE and CRUSH The Ottomans I make an EU4 Guide for Hungary for Europa Universalis 4 1.33 France. With EU4 1.33 France releasing the meta and the starting moves for many nations on the map has changed, so of course new and up to date guides are needed. This EU4 Hungary starting moves guide or EU4 Hungary starting moves tutorial will ensure that you get a great start for yourself playing as the nation of Hungary. This guide covers the opening moves, diplomacy, estates, alliances, subjects, missions, national ideas, PUing Poland, Bohemia, defeating The Ottomans and more! Hungary is one of the best nations for blobbing, having a massive army that is also extremely powerful, being extremely rich, dominating Europe, personal unions and more! After watching this EU4 Hungary guide you will ensure a great start for yourself, and you will have an easy and fun campaign. The save file is available for all Tier 1 and above KZbin members in the save-games Discord channel.

I have to agree with the "PUs in mission trees" statement ... because it makes it too easy to gain massive amounts of power. This is doubly true for the HRE, because ELECTOR-PUs mean you get someone to vote for you WITHOUT the "-0,10 Imperial Authority" modifier if you had vassalised an elector (this is the reason why you should PU Brandenburg and Saxony as Bohemia instead of keeping them as vassals). My "luckiest" campaign as Brandenburg was when some other Emperor made Ansbach and Bayreuth electors ... and I got the PUs due to the same dynasty, but basically Brandenburg and Saxony and all the smaller nations are SCREWED because they got their mission trees before Paradox came up with "let's give them strong nations loads of PUs in their mission trees so they get even stronger" idea.

If ones does want to vassalize Byzantium either through no cb or the Serbian alliance I recommend not rivaling the Ottoman and reseting until they don’t rival back since if they rival you it will be a pain in the ass to get into Byzantium without military access since the Ottomans will definitely not give it to you if they hate you, and you lack any sort of navy to get there by sea. Sometimes Serbia or Byzantium might get access which will also allow you access by default, but big warning on that, sometimes the Ottomans will randomly revoke there military access for whatever reason and even if you’re still at war or even after you vassalized Byzantium your troops will be stuck in Greece with no way to get back to hungary, and unless you want to take the risk and immediately go to war with the Ottomans for Byzantiums cores you will have no choice but to disband and rebuild your whole army which will cost you money and manpower. I’m surprise paradox still doesn’t allow us to use our vassals or junior partners own transports, as this this shouldn’t be a problem if you can just transport them back through Croatia’s own transports, but you can’t use transports unless you directly own them.

I just played Hungary game and it was fun. I pretty much played the same as in the video. I allied Muscovy early on in the game. Rushed balkans(also Byzantium) like in the video. Pu'ed Poland with the help of Muscovy. When i got Poland and Lithuania as pu's. i Dismantled the HRE, In the war i took Silesian parts from Bohemia and made Austria release Styria so i can make Austria my PU(Austria needs to have less than 13 provinces) later retake Austrian cores from Styria. Then i did the good old Byzantium-Bulgaria strategy on Ottomans. Then when i didnt have truce's and AE wasnt too bad i pu'd both Bohemia and Austria.

@Lucifer_26
@Lucifer_26 2 жыл бұрын
@@sprucefurniture I read up on the wiki and from that I believe the answer is: Yes, you can if Lithuania is your PU and has less than 58 provinces after you culture switched to Polish. That said, culture switching costs a lot of diplo power and the Hungarian idea set might even be better if not as good as the Commonwealth and you will become an elective monarchy. Therefore I believe it's just a lot of effort for barely any gains, but that's up to you to decide if it's worth it. For roleplay purposes it might be fun. :)

This is a great guide like you always do! I wish you would take the guides a little further and give us a glimpse of what the mid-game will look like. So you get us off to a good start but sometimes it's hard to take it to that next step. Or we follow the guide but are a few years behind in progress and start seeing alliance blocks that slow down progress. I'd like to see how you go from a solid start to unstoppable!

An important expansion you forgot: -->> Crimea / Steppes lands for lots of Cossacks ... and keeping their estate happy will add more to the cav combat ability. For economic purposes it is also important to focus on getting Crimea AND especially Alexandria, because by controlling the latter you can shift trade from Genoa to Venice (via Constantinople/Ragusa), which will starve the nations west of Italy of wealth and make their conquest easier.

Hihi Hawk. I have been watching your guides for a while now an enjoy them quite a lot (although admittedly, I have more time to watch the condensed videos than to actually play..). I have one question though: In many of your guides you will rearrange army compositions in a specific manner, getting rid of X cav units etc. Can you elaborate a little on why you are doing those things? That is still something I have no real grasp on myself.
@Lucifer_26
@Lucifer_26 2 жыл бұрын
He explains it sometimes in his videos. It's because cavalry costs as much as 2,5 infantry units. In the beginning of the game it's a careful balance to maintain between more manpower in the field and utilizing the advantages of cavalry which are that they are more powerful and in battle they are able to attack more enemy units. With nations like Hungary you want to utilize their cavalry combat bonuses, but you still want to get to your max army width asap and not ruin your economy just getting more cavalry.

Is the Moldavia event truly random or are you able to influence Moldavia's decision making by doing stuff like allying them and improving relations? Also id like to see a guide on either Ardabil (without restarting constantly until Qara is not hostile or domineering) or a new one on Provence (unless nothing changed from the last guide) also Byzantium since the new update means Ottos wont mothball anymore
@Lucifer_26
@Lucifer_26 2 жыл бұрын
From the wiki I can't find a thing you can do to influence it. That said, it doesn't hurt either so you can always try, also helps with good relations before they become your vassal. If they don't choose you, you can always just restart. If it happens, it happens before 1448 so just restart until you get it if you really want it.

Deving Hont in 1448 sep... Da Vinci laughs at you, noobie mistake xD You should be even changing culture at the earliest moment and dev after that. Also the same culture changing trick can be timed up nicely with colonialism and Kosovo gold mine. Also! - Wallachia should not be annexed too early as they are the perfect march material with their generic discipline bonus. - You should stack Hungarian national ideas with aristocratic ideas in the early game and depend on cavalry army. Historic backgorund: Mátyás defeated Austria, Bohemia and Poland between 1470-1485 several times. He managed to annex Stayer state,Wien state, Moravia state, Silesia state and the 3 Bohemian provinces near Oberlausitz. He tried to get himselft elected as Holy Roman Emperor to fulfill Habsburg's vow to Sigismund and lead a great crusade against the Ottomans. After his unexpected death a coalition "convinced" Hungarian nobility to elect the Bohemian King and return everything back to their former owners.

While I fully understand the political baggage behind the terms of Eatern/Western Europe, people refer to these areas according to history rather than an insult. Obviously the Cold War comes to mind, but also the many Balkan crusades that involved more these countries rather than often denominated Western countries, such as France or England. Furthermore, according to a lot of polls, "Eastern Europe" is commonly identified by european citizens as any country that borders the combination of Germany, Austria and Italy's East. The explanations are also deeply rooted within culture and language: Western countries are mainly Germanic/Latin/Norse rooted while the East is Slavic/Orthodox related (Byzantine, Romani...). Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia are intrinsicaly rooted to Eastern Europe, even according to the game denominating them as part of the Slavic culture groups. Point being, I understand where your statement comes from, however, I'd argue it's valid to say that Hungary, Bohemia and Poland are both, from a geographical and historical perspective Eastern and Central Europe. Hence, I disagree with the claim that it is wrong to consider these 3 countries as part of Eastern Europe.
