Rented an Odyssey for a family road trip vacation to Florida. The van performed amazingly well and the kids stayed calm & content which made the driving much more enjoyable. If I was in the market for a minivan the Odyssey would definitely be on my shopping list.

I don't know why Honda isn't making a huge overhaul to this car. It's so outdated. They should also make an AWD option and a hybrid. The car is basically the same as it was in 2018. It's a dinosaur. The only thing it has going for it is that it comfortably sits six in the back (kids), and that magic slide.

It still does what families need. The interior layout is incredibly good. What it badly needs is a hybrid.

I disagee with all the comments about hybrid saving you money. An xle sienna is selling at msrp at $48,000 and an ex-l Odyssey is selling for $40,500 at invoice in my area. In order to break even on the $7,500 price difference(not including interest), it will take 150,000 miles. Assuming Odyssey@ 22mpg and sienna @36 mpg. average price of gas for last 10 years= $2.80. In my opinion the hybrid isn't gaining you anything from a financial standpoint. However, the Odyssey does need a complete overhaul. It is essentially unchanged since 2018.

I've always been a fan of the Honda Odyssey, ever since the previous generation. This is one of the sportiest and quickest minivans you'll ever buy, I mean 0-60 mph in like under 7 seconds in still real fast for a freaking van, and all thanks to that glorious (and I mean GLORIOUS) 3.5L J35 V6 with VTEC. It's still very potent, and you can still smoke some people in this which is really funny :). I still love the look of the Odyssey, both inside and out. I'm a simple person, and yes, this generation Odyssey has been around since 2018, I'm still a big fan of it overall.

I bought a 2023 Odyssey for my parents to daily but have around for when we needed to take the full family (mom, dad, wife, daughter, and myself) comfortably for some distance. Considering that I bought and maintain a vehicle that I don't even drive all that often, the old reliable nature of this vehicle was a selling point. The fact that is purely the most spacious was a plus since hauling 4 adults is in our use case on occasion. Also, I think it had the most practical cabin configurations. Being able to remove the second row middle seat combined with the magic slide on each of the second row outside seats is great for carseats and 3rd row access. We were rocking dual rear-facing carseats over the Thanksgiving holiday and being able to slide the seats was clutch for getting our wives into the back while still supporting two rear-facing carseats. I've got to say that the updates seem to be minimal and what they did with the gauge cluster seems like a downgrade from what the 2024 and earlier models have but I suppose it brings it closer in line with the rest of their brand. With how dated this model is now, I think you need to buy a mid-trim like the EX-L because the high-end features are underwhelming. We have an EX-L: it is comparatively cheap to the Sienna while more spacious than a Carnival. Once you start talking about spending 50k+, you are entering the territory where asking why can't you have AWD or some of the premium features found in the competitors are missing.
@Blank00
@Blank00 Ай бұрын
I prefer the Odyssey’s ergonomics and practicality over the modern touches that sacrifice ergonomics and practicality in rivals. For example, in the new Carnival, it’s mostly touch panels and not enough physical buttons when adjusting HVAC, making these controls easier to miss when driving. The revised Odyssey has migrated all HVAC controls to physical buttons whereas the Pacifica and previous Odyssey had some climate controls that can only be accessed by the infotainment. And you can still remove the 2nd row, unlike the Sienna, and the padding and ability to slide the 2nd row is worth trading off Chrysler’s stow and go. Odyssey has both ergonomics and practicality whereas you can only choose 1 when buying a rival. Sienna has good ergonomics but not as good practicality or versatility. Carnival and Pacifica are the other way around.
@CPTBUC

Fun fact: the 3rd row seats hang up like that when you pull them back to fold them into the rear storage because they can lock in that backwards, upside down position so you can sit on them, facing out the rear of the van.

I love minivans… and I had a 2002 Odyssey that was amazing. It eventually misfired a cylinder which would’ve been an easy repair, but between the repair cost and the 5-speed automatic being a ticking time bomb (not to mention that it was a surplus vehicle in my household by this point), I had it donated instead. This video was right on time since the wife and I are looking to replace her 2018 Chrysler Pacifica which just got diagnosed with transmission failure last week, likely our fault since I've irresponsibly never had the fluid serviced since new, but the $4k quote for a rebuild just doesn't seem reasonable to us at 7 years old and over 140 thousand miles at this point - Considered the Kia Carnival but their reputation seems to be lacking in recent years, and the wife doesn't like the odd styling of the Toyota Sienna, so looks like we'll be heading to Honda as long as she doesn't mind the features this van is unfortunately lacking compared to her Pacifica.

@@Stressless2023 If you have the pacifica non- hybrid, the odyssey did share the same ZF sourced 9 speed with the Pacifica in lower trims but now you have the way better Honda sourced 10 speed for all trims. Not that the 9 speed was horrendous but the 10 speed is way better. Even though Im mentioning how great the 10 speed is, still make sure to get the trans fluid service on time. Also timing belt every 100,000 miles and change the engine oil on time(obviously) and it will last you 200k+ miles.😁

@@aoescool We went with another new Chrysler Pacifica yesterday evening after negotiating our trade in - Someone else commented here that the Odyssey uses a timing belt instead of a chain which after researching has a recommended replacement interval of every 80k on average due to the engine having an interference design and with an average cost of $1,700 at the dealer, so the wife and I decided that was a bit more maintenance than we wanted to be saddled with long-term and would cause too much anxiety. I'm actually surprised Honda uses an engine which demands that level of attention in their minivan, I could understand timing belts in specialty vehicles or even in disposable compact cars but forcing owners to deal with that in workhorse family vehicles like the Odyssey is odd to me.

The 'rear overhang' is no different this year, why keep mentioning it all the sudden? - it's obviously like that to create all the room in the back, especially with the 3rd row up, they would'nt be able to keep that deep pocket of storage in the back if the wheels were pushed further back. Feels like you are kinda reaching, you've reviewed this van before - that overhang was the same before. Also if the wheels were moved further back it would create a wider turning angle, making the van less practical for real world driving.

A two decades old design gussied up to look like its new. Sorry Honda, its time for this one to be put out to pasture.

4:50 We hope for the 2027 model year the odyssey will get a full redesign for the 6th generation and don't expect for an awd option nor a trailsport model.

I was looking for something to watch while I’m getting ready to eat dinner and I’ve never clicked on a notification so fast 😂 But anyways before even watching this it’s outdated and hopefully Honda is working on a new gen with a hybrid

Honda cheaping out again. First off, they still use the half analog half digital dash, the fully loaded Civic from 3 years ago has the newer all digital display. They had the built in vacuum from previous years and then just got rid of it. Still a smallish screen for 2025? And the Caravan for 20 years, has offered middle seats that can fold into the floor, and Honda still hasn't figured that out. And unrelated to this car, but their 25' Civic Hybrid fully loaded, unbelievably, has no rear USB ports, while the 22' Civic fully loaded, does. And the HRV previous gen had magic seats, while the new HRV doesnt. And the previous gen Accord had an 8" screen standard, while the new Accord has a 7' screen for the lower trims. Why remove features that were present before?

Why have rear ports when you can plug from the front? My 2016 has several outlets in the front.

Chrysler trademarks their "Stow N Go" middle seats which is why this and other minivans don't offer them.

You have enough visibility so you don't need 360 canera...panos compromise top frame of vehicle plus prone to leaks and sunroof malfunction...who has time to play with a 15" screen? Don't really need AWD...shift mode to snow with winter tires you're good...

I'll never pay 50k for this, Honda left the Odyssey completely behind from all angles, I just like the Odyssey for only the length and the space. That's it,there's absolutely nothing interesting about the Odyssey anymore for customers to spend 50k on that thing at all, 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
