Scotty is right about non-turbo engines: they last longer because of less internal pressure; thus, a normally-aspirated engine will outlast most turbo-charged engines. And that's what Sofyan needs to understand: Lexus owners like cars that they don't have to worry about when it comes to reliability. If I was going to pay a lot for a sports sedan, I'd go with a Lexus over any BMW or Benz or Audi: those European cars will spend a lot of time at the dealerships for costly repairs while the Lexus owners will simply wave as they drive by.

that's why Lexus didn't bother investing on a new platform for this model, and essentially recycled the ancient interior and powertrains. It shows they don't have much confidence in the IS. They previously went this route for the GS before they discontinued it (RIP). Rumor is that the next IS might be a re-badged Mazda6, similar to the Toyota 86 & Subaru BRZ, or Supra & Z4. Acura, on the other hand, invested millions in R&D for the TLX's all-new chassis, bodywork production, and V6 turbo. That speaks for itself.

IKR, I drove next to a Highlander last week and thought it was an RX 350. Lexus and Toyota’s design language is no longer distinct enough for me to consider it advantageous to drive a Lexus over Toyota so my guess is that: Toyota is planning on taking most of its current models up market incorporating them into the Lexus lineup or their phasing out certain Lexus vehicles. Either way, the newest IS appears to be a carryover and for lack of a better term, a dam Scam. Lexus switched a few lines and bent a few panels for it to appear redesigned but I feel like I just stepped back into 2014 after seeing the interior. I understand the “if it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it mentality” from a financial standpoint but Lexus has always been ahead of its contemporaries in both design and reliability. Re-releasing a car can spell disaster in the minds of their customer base. My fear is that brand loyalist will think “If it wasn’t broke, then why’d you have to go and break it?”

The next car review I am looking forward to is the 2021 Arteon, which has not yet been released. I know it will be slightly underpowered, but has a lot of technology and a very modern looking interior.

I understand the complaints about the power however I own a GS and the power is enough for everyday driving and it kicks in when you need it to. In other words power is adequate. You're not racing this car on a track everyday and if you want to drive it like a knucklehead you will be pulled over by the cops, so whats the point. I think the car looks good and power wise is ok.

I want you guys to think about this. This car is 56k...... That is the price of a blue Tesla model 3 performance...... That's absolutely hilarious to know what you cna get for that money
@andrewmeehan61514 жыл бұрын
I'll agree with you that at 56k this car is a tough sell. But you have to remember that if a car like the Model 3 had the same build quality as this Lexus, it would cost significantly more. I see Lexus all the time that are 10-15 years old and still look new. The same can not be said about it's competitors. This car would be excellent with a small v8 under the hood.
@IReahpZz4 жыл бұрын
@@andrewmeehan6151 so I knwo everyone wants to talk build quality but here me out. Tesla will fix ANYTHING that is wrong if you have anything wrong with your model 3 without question free of charge. And for a long while as well. I drove a model 3 and didn't get what all the complaints were about with build quality it felt just as nice as my infiniti q60 Redsport did and my bmw 335 before that did which both are above lexus int he build quality department. I think that this car really is, as it always has been, for the guys who don't want issues long term with there car and don't trust the Germans even though they've gotten much better now. The model 3 has this beat with an infinite mile warranty for 8 years on your drive train. While lexus is relaible especially this 3.5.its seriously behind on tech, power, handling etc etc. I can't see anyway to really justify it in today's market other than your scared to buy another brand really!
@andrewmeehan61514 жыл бұрын
@@IReahpZz For me, the Model 3 hasn't been around long enough to see how they hold up long term, but from what I've seen they have a lot of issues (again I've never driven one, but i have seen them up close). I think people that want a Tesla already have their mind made up, so the IS really competes against the Germans and obviously the Genesis G70. I won't argue that the German brands have this beat in performance and tech, but if I was in the market for one of these cars the out of warranty maintenance and repairs would scare me away. This is a shame because I think the c class/e class are some of the best looking cars around.
@IReahpZz4 жыл бұрын
@@andrewmeehan6151 I mean the genesis isn't a fair comparison. My current dialy is a Kia stinger and with 3 mods I'm faster than the Lc500, isf rcf etc etc. Most Tesla buyers with the model 3 are first timers and again there coming from luxury cars not mainstream vehicles. And people who own them pretty much always want to keep them. Again personally it doesn't matter if they have issues ( genuinely minor 95% of the time) tesla had you covered. Hell they send people to you to fix the car and if it can't get done you have an identical or better loaner delivered to you! If you buy a lexus you want quiet. No beating the model 3 at that either. I love my gas cars but the M3 is really hard to argue with in this class of vehicle right now

This car will be an amazing lease deal in a few months. The lack of innovation plus any major interior/exterior design change means this car will mainly attract loyal customers, not new ones. Honestly very disappointed in Lexus, they hold a lot of responsibility being the top Japanese luxury brand and are seriously letting down their current and future customer base.

There is a hairy intersection nearby, with no traffic signals, that I have to navigate everyday during rush hour traffic. Three roads converge on the twisting highway, from odd angles, and produce several blind spots. High attention and quick reactions are required to cross and merge with traffic safely. My 2010 Acura TL SHAWD has proven to be proficient in responding immediately to my time critical control inputs, with no turbo lag or contradicting safety systems delaying brisk forward movement. This daily event is the reason why I appreciate tenacious grip and instantaneous thrust in all weather conditions. As well, I require a comfortable cabin, with pleasant exterior styling, and remarkable reliability. I don't live for the race track or go over 90mph for that matter, but I do like punch and composed handling when I need to push it. Given the fact that IS350 AWD is NOT a turbo, that is has the highly desirable dual stage fuel injection system, produces very respectable torque and horsepower numbers, I'd say it's a real contender as a replacement vehicle.

I think that Lexus did enough to keep it relevant in the marketplace, because the average buyer is none the wiser. I personally would choose the G70 or new TLX if it was my decision though. Without a full redesign, I wouldn't even consider the IS. It does look better inside and out though.

Don't forget, the IS has a V8 it's used in the past including on the RC. I'm sure Lexus reserved the IS 500 for it which would make sense. That engine with 471 HP will level competition especially with the RC competition edition hitting 0-60 in 3.9 sec. It makes sense with the economy not to produce this car right now.

If the IS has been using the same platform, engine options, also MMI for the last five years then yes they should have changed the platform from the ground up, what I respect about BMW North America is that they would always change “LCI” for their respective models (i.e body style, engine, interior trim and leather upgrades, kidney grills or front light upgrades, etc) I agree with everything you said in the video comparing the Camry V6 with the Lexus IS 350 AWD, a 8 speed versus 6 speed and an increase of only 11 HP the MMI of Lexus particularly the navigation is so laughable that they have to use pixelation for the map seems like 90s dated and also the rear view camera with the steering line that never curves it’s always in a straight line, the resolution is so pixelate and dated and of course they took the same camera from Toyota and used the parts interchangeable. Lexus needs to step up their game if they want to be current and distinguishable from it’s parent company Toyota. I’m surprised Lexus doesn’t listen to any customer quality index or feedback from current customers how they can improve the car, the board of Lexus needs to fire the exterior designer, interior, and software MMI personnel because honestly that’s a huge disappoint. If I I’m in the market to buy a entry level sport luxury car I would definitely look between Audi or BMW. Those two companies actually listen to their owners feedback in initial quality survey and have better upgrades every year, look at BMW for example they have 330i i-4 248hp, 330e, M340i 382hp, or M3 473hp, M3 Comp 503 HP, my point being that there’s more engine options and upgrades also technology for iDrive is incredible; resolution, tap-tics, ease of us, voice command, gesture control, a plethora of technology which quite literally for some people would say is too much but BMW got you covered. Let’s see how long the IS 350 AWD will sit on the dealerships showroom and what incentives it will have once it reaches the 6 month anniversary for sitting in the show room. 😂 😂
