I’ve sat in one and said oh god this is horrible. The 3 series is the king of that class anyway it blows away its competition. This car is an absolute work of art inside and out. I just hate how companies are doing screens now because they really look like an afterthought how they are just floating on the dash. I get that they are trying to put them as high up in your sightline as possible but in all honesty i'd rather have no screen at all.

I like Benz but I just got my self an Acura TLX V6 and is fast enough for me but to me is not worth paying 15k more for this c class if power is what I'm looking for I can easily spend 5k to install a super charge and I be fine but at the same time were going to spend our money on what we prefer, nice review keep up the good work man!

We don't blame you for choosing the TLX, it's a great choice and we do stand by our statement how Acura is the value leader in a segment that typically doesn't offer it. The new C-Class just feels more special than the Acura, and it damn well should considering how much more expensive it is.

I test drove the TLX 3.5L and liked it. I didn't love it. I tested the C300 4Matic and reallly liked it. BUT, as you mentioned, the Benz was priced much higher and the TLX actually had a bit more technology. The Benz definitely has an amazing interior and the driving experienced was incredibly silky with solid ride and handling. But, the TLX wasn't far off. I'm waiting to test the SH-AWD version.

To that clown that posted a few spots below me on the 3 Series being superior you obviously haven't driven a Merc. The W204 was a solid, safe, refined and stylish sedan if equipped correctly with the sport or AMG sport package. It had a plain interior but everything felt solid and the structure of the car felt rock solid keeping in tune with what a Benz should feel like. Reliability was very good too and didn't have the weak spots a BMW has (plastic cooling pipes and plastic electric water pump). BMW was the more fun car to drive but for those who wanted a bit more comfort with enough sport the W204 was a fine choice.

I just wish Mercedes did a better job at integrating the infotainment screens in their C-classes. Even the newest C-class has that cheap looking slab of plastic just sitting there ruining the rest of the interior. The E and S classes did a much better job with that.

I’m very happy Mercedes has introduced models like the CLA and GLA, and now the A-Class to the American lineup - it allows them to really bring the C-Class up to par with its more premium cousins without having to compromise on materials, features, and quality as being the entry-level model. What a phenomenal ride! It’ll be interesting to see how the W205 ages.

Everything about it is so well designed, but 2 things are a dealbreaker to me: 1. that shifter design is stupid, ill be accidentally hitting it 2. that chinese ipad ripoff looking screen with round edges

The Moe 1. Even if you hit the shifter, it won't allow for you to shift into reverse and park. Only neutral can be selected 2. The iPad is placed up their to allow for a high view point allowing for you to not move your head as much to view the screen

Hey redline reviews, please help. I don't know what my daily driver should be. I want a midsize car that is a premium brand. I'm looking to buy used 2-3 years old. Should I get a Lexus GS350 F sport, a Acura TLX V6 Advance, a Audi A6 , or something else. I want it to be about 20-25 grand used and I don't mind if it's a little more than that. I need a car with good get up and go, so a lot of power would be nice, I like the new 2016 accord touring but I want a car that would stand out , not a mainstream car. I'm not sure the 3 series is a good car nor the 5 series, they seem kinda plasticity and cheap. I don't know why I should get, please give your suggestions, you know better than any others I can think of

Does everyone like the looking of the new C-class? I personally don't, for me it looks too much like a smaller S-class and too many female-oriented elements especially when looking from the back, for example, the small curvy taillights. It lacks the muscle-feeling and aggressiveness like the BMW 3, Acura TLX and many other competitors in its class(perhaps that is MB's value proposition on this car). Anyway, the car is very Beautiful but NOT handsome.

I've been a dyed in the wool BMW and Porsche guy for several decades, but I have to say I was blown away by this car. I had my pick between a 3 or 5 series BMW for my company car, but when I test drove a C200L here in China, I had to have it. It was heads and shoulders above the BMW in fit and finish and was amazed at the performance and handling of this car, unlike any Mercedes I had ever driven. The car has the 2.0 Turbo/7 speed auto and the "L" offered here in China made the rear seat leg room like an S Class. Even the new styling makes the BMW look ordinary in comparison. I think this new line of Mercedes will definitely give BMW and Audi a run for it's money. So much so that I am thinking about trading in my M3 for a C63 AMG when I get back home to the States, or maybe even trading in my Cayman S for that AMG GT-S which is absolutely a sick car. My only disappointment with the car is getting used to the column stalk gear selector and grabbing for a stick on the center console that is not there. Otherwise, the car is amazing.

Nice review. Have my eye on the C63 and curious about the 450. Not sure I need that much power. I owned a. 2008 last gen and that engine note was worth the price of admission. My "Boy Racer" days appear to be coming to a close as older kids are necessitating back seats. Your review may save me a few thousand and cause me to seriously consider the C400.

For a 3.0 engine with twin Turbos, not bad. It goes fast. I raced one with my 2015 Taurus SHO and that one got 3.5 twin turbo as well. Off the start, even though the Taurus is heavier, i still take the lead because of AWD but the Mercedes kept up for a while behind me, difference about 40 feet. I was surprised with the Mercedes being 329HP vs my 365HP and the Mercedes still kept up pretty good. It was night time. Funny thing is after the race, he stopped at the same resturant as i was and on my way out, he recognized me and he started laughing and said _"You were the one who raced me"_ I too started laughing LOLz, that was fun though.

I just bought this car 2 days ago and love driving it. It is very responsive and has terrific features. I got a good deal (about $3500) with the current incentives. Great car, luxurious feel and definitely worth the price. Can't wait to take it for a long trip this weekend!!

@@ItsDradem Since I purchased this car used, there was some problems in the beginning with the fuel injection which took the service department about 1 month to figure out(this was frustrating). Once that was fixed, the car is driving like a charm. No other reliability issues.

Straight to the point, very little fluff. Loved this video and how detailed it was, thank you. I learned more about the car than any other video I've seen. I think the C400 is a bargain right now. Cheaper than a C450 or an E-class from 2017+. You get the same luxury and engine for a fraction of the price.

Just one mistake, Only the seats get leather, everything else is MB-tex. Yep it does look and feel like the real thing. Everything is spot on. A comment on fog lights, LEDS are a poor replacement, The whiteness of LEDS is actualy quite bad in fog or worse snow, it creates horrible glare.

Hi i have a c400 2015.. i dont see the knob behind the steering wheel to turn signal headlights and wipers turn on at night.. is the knob supposed to turn on lights with rest of interior instrument or is mines burned? Also i see 2 yellow lights in daytime dont see it at night on top where back middle seat is looks like a sensor what does that do?

They dropped the manual from the C300 in 2011. There were some nice updates that year as well, so the 2011 C300 is 6MT is a great little car that's hard to find. Audi dropped the manual S4 (and IMO made the styling SO BORING for '17+). Now we are stuck with the M3 if you want a stick, or if need AWD a 335i x-drive (which I find boring inside/out with lackluster handling). Even as a die-hard manual guy I am strongly considering a C300 or C400 right now. If there was a manual it would be a no-brainer.

I am a bit tired of all these young men who review such upmarket cars and all they are interested in is how sporty they are, how "responsive" the steering is, who complain when they cannot hear the motor roaring etc. They forget that people who go for a Mercedes, for example, are primarily interested in comfort and luxury. I would be more interested to hear about the air suspension of C class 2015, for example, rather than the acceleration figures.

TheHvk the $60K be quoted was absolutely fully loaded, the distronic plus driver steering assist is amazing, the car will literally drive itself. Good luck getting an M3/M4 for $62 with any options. if you priced one you will see that a well appointed M3 will be in the low $80K region. sure you can get a cheaper one but everyone will know you couldn't afford to do it proper. and resale will be more difficult because people buying used cars don't want bargain basement, zero options. They aren't even comparable. the C-class is aimed at a completely different demographic. I just sold my E92 M3 because I live in Colorado and a 4matic Benz is far more practical. I can go snowboarding and not worry about getting stuck in a blizzard. plus there's a time in life where comfort and luxury at the cost of some performance is a good trade.

A 1-2 year old M3/C63 would be right around that 60k ballpark. Those things depreciate like mad so let someone else take the hit. You also have to consider whether or not those cars even make sense at all since they're WAY overkill for anybody who doesn't take their car to the track.

Looks nice... but... Mercedes/BMW/Audi make disposable, fluff cars. The car needs a proper 6 speed manual gearbox. That turbo system means frequent, expensive repairs that you would not likely encounter in Japanese luxury cars. German luxury cars are posh disposable garbage. I can not afford to drop $ in to a car thats more than likely going to be at the dealer most of the time because something went wrong again and again.

Up until 1993 MB cars where all about quality and status even in their most affordable of their models in their own rights. In recent years quality has surely started to improve, after going down the drain between 1994-2008, but their entry level models look alarmingly too chavy (yes, I unsterstand this C400 is not entry level). Its a sad state of affairs for MB and gegrades the brand. Pathetic gold chain, baseball cup chavmobilies...18inch wheels, rear spoiler, loud 'woofer kind of guys. Well done Merc.

I honestly feel like this is the best compact luxury sedan right now, Mercedes did an awesome job designing it... mini S Class all around. My parents were looking at the 2008 C Class when it was redesigned, and it felt like a Chevy Malibu inside due to its interior quality, as compared to the 3 Series we also test drove (we ended up getting a CPO 2006 E60 5 Series).

Yes, this car is a very solid design in Merdedes' idiom. However, I'm not sure if I would shell out close to 60 grand on a "German" car that's built in USA. Maybe it's just me, but I want my German car to be made in Germany. No knock on the good folks in Alabama, but it's more of a matter of principle. A German car that's not built in Germany is not a true German car to me.

Would you review the new Lexus IS product line, which is not so sporty as infiniti Q50 and BMW 3 series, but back to comfy; lexus is the competitor to the Mercedes. and we know both Acura and Lexus comes with better reliability. Thanks BTW please take the 250/350. there is no many ppl who envy the cars with ECVT in this segment.

It feels like expensive real wood - right down to the aluminum trim. Wat? Anyways, gorgeous interior for sure. TT 3.0 down on power though. I don't at all like the floating iPad, or the weird control in the arm rest console, but that's just personal preference. Stupid place for the gear selector. Anyone who's ever autocrossed and had your wipers going by accident would know what I'm talking about.

I drive Mercedes C for 4 years now. OK, car, no complaints. But, this newer version with IPod screen looks a bit cheap stick out like that. I hope MB engineers realize that's just not going to work. It is a major distraction from an otherwise AWESOME interior. When my second lease is up in 2015, I hope the 2016's will be rid of ugly screen.

if you notice, pretty much all car manufacturers doing the infotainment screens that way, bmw, audi, mazda, and many more, its just a trend nowadays to make it look like its an ipad like floating display

imp alor Well it sucks and if the multimedia package is not chosen why have it? to force clutter if you mount your own I bet to force you to upgrade to theirs? garbage.

if you dont have multimedia package, theres still info on the screen, like radio stations, cd info, car settings, fuel, economy info, blue tooth, phone features, and many more. so the screen is very useful even if you dont have multimedia package.

LambdaQuarks also you can choose to add a navi later on in the car, its a simple plug and play feature in glove compartment in mercs. but yea i prefer built in dash screens, its just neater, but this free floating design certainly is not a deal breaker for me.

It is just me, but the suspensions seem HORRIBLE! It is a tradition at Mercedes to produce excellent suspensions. Even the S class is not blameless in this level, despite the Magic Body Control System ! I remain skeptical !

Does this car have some reliability issue or something? I see a few C400 with about 30,000 miles going for 20k when they used to be going for 60k+ ?? If someone can answer me I'd appreciate it, because I am VERY VERY VERY tempted to get one. I did some research online but everyone says it's a good car so I'm kind of confused as heck

Agree with the reviewer, it should have a manual option. Both BMW and Audi have manual option.

I really like this car. Only thing about MB's. Their value sinks quickly. So, still not sure about their reliability.
