Awful reliability -- really? You could not prove that by me -- since 1997 I've had 7 JGC -- nothing major in repairs with any of them -- several never saw service save oil change, brake pads and rotors, tire rotation, and 40,000 mile tune up (now changed to 90,000 mile tune up). Had one transfer case issue but it was some kind of glitch -- came a about 9K miles and fully covered under warranty including loaner vehicle.

Good you mentioned the huge A pillars. I have driven Grand Cherokees since 1997 -- I've had 7 of them. Everyone of them has had very poor side visibility (because that part really has not changed) and the combination of those heavy A-pillars and the side mirrors make turns a real white knuckle event -- you really can't see crap -- especially in rain or the night. You have no chance of knowing where the front actually of the vehicle is either. Almost everything else about them is great to excellent IMHO. My three biggest gripes with these trucks, firstly is that the front end styling looks too much like a generic Grand Cherokee, not quite distinctive enough for this high price-point in my opinion. Secondly, having essentially a budget sub-$60k "Wagoneer" version that competes with entry-level Tahoes/Yukons/Expeditions/Armadas but looks nearly identical to the premium $90-$115k "Grand Wagoneer" trim level from the exterior is questionable to me, and seems like it would water down the "Grand-ness" of owning the Grand Wagoneer. Lastly, I think Jeep really missed an opportunity to add a tasteful amount of wood on the sides to pay tribute to this trucks namesake, maybe incorporated into the door handles or even making the Grand Wagoneer letters on the doors out of wood, either of which would have added a unique and upmarket touch to the styling. Decent effort from Chrysler/Stellantis overall, especially the attention to detail inside (although the turn signal and wiper stalks look borrowed from a Dodge Neon), but I think the designers played it a bit too safe ultimately.

After a month of shopping around for suburban and not being able to find one, I ended up considering the Wagoneer. I noticed they were not selling as hot cakes, despite of being in my opinion a beautiful car inside. Then a fully loaded suburban popped up and ended up buying it over this. I got scared that the wagoneers were not selling and not even going above MSRP like the other GMC suvs. I am happy with my suburban, but I must admit that I loved the interior of the wagoneer much better. A month has gone by and the wagoneer still there in the dealer lot. I hope I made the right purchase and didn’t just buy the suburban as FOMO.

As you pointed out, the new one doesn't even have a Jeep badge, so why insist on a 7-slot grille? Check out the SJ's grille and the elegant raised front edge of its hood. For that matter, take a good look at the whole design. It's a true classic that SHOULD have inspired the new model. But as it stands, the best I can say about the new style is that I'm on the fence.

We bought a fully loaded Series 3 for MSRP. The Cadillac dealer wanted something like $20k over MSRP as a starting point. Comparing the MSRP of the Grand Wagoneer to a comparable competitor, I feel like the prices are close enough to consider. I mean, if you're willing to drop $85k on a new SUV, why would you not be willing to drop $88k ? Really boils down to preference. HOWEVER: The MSRP is not (at least, right now) the full story. When you compare actual dealer pricing, our Grand Wagoneer was something like $30k+ cheaper than a comparable Escalade. Worth noting.

It gets poor fuel economy and the styling is take it or leave it. Those are literally the only negatives I can come up with. The obvious elephant in the room is the Cadillac Escalade. Yes, the Escalade will always reign supreme in the class that it has owned since 2002. I'd even agree on it riding slightly better because of those amazing MRC shocks. But given this Series II Wagoneer nearly matches a loaded Escalade Platinum in content shows which is the better vehicle. I actually appreciate the boxyness of the Wagoneer, which helps with superior interior accommodations. As for fuel economy, the Escalade is rated at 14/19/16. Is it really a fair assessment to just bash the GW in the dead of winter on its 13/18? I'd take the penalty to own a more capable, more comfortable, and more luxurious ride. $100K for a Jeep? Yeah, they've been doing it since 2018 on Trackhawks all day. And GWs are currently selling as fast as they're made. There are reasons you're getting attention, Sofyan.

Mostly agree. I do think Jeep played it a little too safe with the exterior design overall, mainly the too-Grand Cherokee-ish front end design, and I don't think there should be a cheapie "Wagoneer" version coming at all since it'll look virtually identical to the $100k+ Grand Wagoneer that is supposed to attract a much more affluent buyer, but the overall execution of this is pretty good overall. Some unique parts of the GW concept should have been retained though (the light-up Grand Wagoneer script on the front grill, etc).

Bought a GV80 last year based on reviews like this and it’s being returned next week. I should not have bought a first year production vehicle and I should have purchased from an “established” company. Worst experience ever but I’d still never buy a Jeep! Lol

Had the same experience with a ‘21 Kia Sorento. I liked the advertised features and design. After 7 months of ownership I traded it in at a loss. Way too any annoyances that made the ownership experience not worthwhile. One of which was the car would literally stall for a few seconds when making an quick turn from a stop. It had to do with the overly aggressive traction control. Very dangerous when you’re pulling into traffic.

@@Littleathquakes Our GV80 won’t blow hot air through the passenger side. It’s been -30 celsius here for most of December and it’s going on 2 months now and they won’t fix anything until Korea Genesis gives them go-ahead. Plus the engine stumbles and idles rough in cold temps of -25 or lower. The mechanic said all the Hyundai V6’s were like that. The courtesy car they gave us only had 3,000kms on it and it ran just as bad the next day after sitting out all night. I would never buy another Hyundai related product ever. As for Genesis…. their customer service is absolute garbage.

I hear wildly varying mpg some people getting up to 22mpg like tfl they did a highway loop and got like 25mpg

That’s the Hemis. I had a 19’ Ram, got 12 mpg. Others got 20 mpg with the same setup. The engines are not consistent at all.

Popping on to the GW forums, many are getting 20-23MPG hwy on the regular. Sofyan's performance testing this in the dead of winter and expects Prius-like gas mileage. Ok...

Still has a "Jeep" transmission? NOT INTERESTED

It has the best auto transmission you can buy. It can easily and reliably handle 700 horsepower

It has the ZF 8 speed. That’s the only thing I would even trust in this vehicle. I’d trust The v8 too if it didn’t have cylinder deactivation

ZF 8HP75 is perhaps the best mainstream trans in the industry in terms of refinement and most certainly in reliability.
