Today I visited a Honda dealership in Los Angeles. And they have the Civic hatchback hybrid, sports touring version. But only one. I felt pretty lucky because no other dealer in my city has one. The sales man showed me the car and I took it for a test dive. It's a great car and I decided to buy it. But while sitting in the sales office I found out that it's not for sale. Honda sent the car to the dealer as a demo. The dealer must keep the car for 90 days before selling it. I had cash in hand but could not buy it. Bummer!

No memory seats in a 2025 Touring? C’mon, Honda! They make life a lot easier for a young couple sharing a car. Our 2020 Mazda3 Premium has 2-driver memory seats that is linked to the exterior mirrors and the HUD. Nice vehicle overall, though. By the way, Honda used to offer a very similar color on the Civic decades ago.

Honda cheaps out on everything, always. My Fit has power locks but no keyless entry. I have to use a damn key to lock and unlock the doors, and they use inferior locks which always fail and have to be rebuilt by a locksmith. The Fit also leaked after a few years, all the factory seam sealer on the roof failed and had to be resiliconed. My car has no MP3 player built in either. You had to buy the Sport trim for that (same with the keyless entry). World-class cheapos. This is our 3rd Honda. We also have a Mazda, my 5th, the brand we prefer. Doubtful we will buy a Honda again.

@@OMGWTFLOLSMH Honda does have the tendency to give the least possible to its customers. On the current SI, for instance, they don’t carry the color and material of the front seats to the rear seats. On the Pilot Elite, they use reflector LEDs as opposed to the projector LEDs used in the competition. Again, even our 2020 Mazda3 Premium has projector LEDs that turn in corners.

Thanks for the tour! You gave a great detailed review. I had one of those old hybrid Civics; somewhere around 2011-2014 (can’t remember). I think it was around $29,000I chose that over a Prius. The color of this Civic is horrendous. It is so awful I almost didn’t watch, but that’s not your fault, so I watched on, kicking and screaming how ugly it is. It reminds me of the 1970s appliances on the old Let’s Make A Deal with Monty Hall. But, the grandparents will love it. I can’t imagine anything looking good in that color. White, black, red, gray and blue; that’s all you need. No need to make something up no one ever asked for. I’m going to laugh so loud when I see one (hopefully I won’t). The Camry LE hybrid is $31,000, but I like the attributes the Civic model. I’m sure the Camry doesn’t come in bizarre colors, but they have in Ocean Blue that is spectacular. I like just about everything about the Civic and I like the head unit size and would not want it larger. I realize you do, but I see no logic to reaching over half way across the car to adjust something, and I like it separate from the driver indicators and the steering wheel would hide part of it. It’s a car, not a movie theatre. I don’t care for the Rolls Royce-looking air vent diverter controls and I’m sure they’re not solid steel, so calling attention to them serves no purpose. They will probably break either using them or moving your hand from the mirror to the gear shift, or some other accident knocking them off. There's always some silly design someone takes credit for that is ultimately a disaster. I’d pass on the hatchback at the upgraded price ($3000 is very too much) and living in Florida, I think heated seats are ridiculous to include in any package. As a stand-alone option, it’s a nice idea for some regions, but this isn’t Iceland. You shouldn’t have to buy that to get a leather steering wheel. I wouldn’t buy cooled seats either and we have 11 months of summer here and it gets damn hot and over 100 at times. I also understand packages are to the advantage of the seller, not the buyer. I would change out the lights that weren’t LEDs. I did it to my car and have had no issues with them. I don’t understand why they don’t spend the extra $10 and install them at the factory. Thanks again for the tour. My comments are directed solely at the car and I appreciate the review. If I were to say what I liked about it, other than most things, the post would go on and that isn’t necessary. I’d love to see it in a typical car color (and I will), so I can tell what it really looks like on the exterior. I’ll bet it would be really sharp in a dark red metallic. It would make me more motivated to part with my cash. It just looks like cheap plastic that is waiting to be painted. I mean, it doesn't even look like paint; it looks like primer. Okay, I'm done now...lol.

1:13 it’s fair that the Insight has ended production cuz they brought back the Civic Hybrid and the MPGs are sooooo freaking great so owners who get they’re hands on this won’t have range anxiety also the transmission is kinda cool a 2 stage direct drive AT

Honda figured it’s cheaper to just make a civic hybrid than devote R&D to another whole new model that basically was a civic underneath anyways.

@@esaireyna899 plus the insight didn’t really have the brand or recognition that the Prius name has as well, and the insight was probably sold for that purpose of having a Prius fighter. So this basically is also a Prius competitor in that sense being a hatchback and nearly the same price as a Prius.

I purchased a Honda Civic in 2014 for $19,000, and it gives me between 31 and 39 mpg (averaging 34). It’s a great car for commuting-basic, but very comfortable to drive. I’m not sure if I would spend $30,000 on a Honda Civic today.

Very thankful for your thorough review. The little statements in comparison with the 2024 Prius were very helpful. I have been interested in this Civic Hatchback Hybrid, but didn't know about the lack of things that I consider important in a top of the line price point such as: 1. No power folding mirrors 2. No lumbar adjustment in the seats 3. No power liftgate 4. No 360 camera view for easier parking 5. No ventilated/cooled seats for that black leather scorching your skin in summer 6. No rear passenger vents 7. No rear USB charging port P.S. can we please normalize twenty twenty five (2025) instead of two thousand twenty five?😉

I am comparing this Civic Hatchback Hybrid with my 2020 Hyundai Ioniq PHEV limited....mine won as it has genuine leather 10 way power driver seat with memory, 6 way manual passenger seat (height adjustment is really crucial for passenger seat IMO), power folding mirror, 8.9 kwh battery, 52mpg without plugging in. Hyundai certainly provides more value for my money and glad I got one before it discontinued the model which is a true hidden gem. Nonetheless I applaud Honda's effort in this Civic Hatchback hybrid which should take away some sale from the Toyota Prius.

I think the mpg numbers depend massively on the driver. I can probably get wayy more than advertised with this car. I say that because I get 525 miles range in my 18' Sentra with a 13.2 gallon tank with my average normal driving. Roads here are longer/less lights in Florida but still. I'd probably be in 600s in this civic, very attractive. Would love to get one, but too much OTD lol, MSRP is fine.

As someone who drives a 2021 Honda Insight EX with just a little over 40,000 miles, I really like this one. That being said, idk if it will be worth it for me to trade in for it since its only a slight upgrade with hatchback space and a bit more range. Plus the Insight has a 10.3gal fuel tank size that still gets me 496 miles of range. I would totally go for it if I didn't already have an Insight with more than half the loan paid off...that and it only cost me $26k msrp before TL&F.
