I’m blown away by how Kia has progressed, and also admittedly embarrassed by my past cynicism. Persona anecdote: I drove a 3 series BMW back when I met my now wife, who’s family all drove Kias. I came from a family who were all pretentious about what they drove. At the time she drove a Kia Soul, and I remember scoffing at it like an asshole. That little thing took us everywhere, was with us during some really tough times. The BMW was pretty quick to go when misfortune struck, but that Kia stayed. Terrific car in ever sense. It humbled me, and I learned to try and look past my prejudices and not judge a book by its cover.

Cars like this, the Chevy Bolt, and the previous generation QX-50 that have turn signal lights on the rear bumper might be unique but sort of stupid (I know Audi SUV’s and Mini’s have them as well. But they are used as backup not the main light). As soon as you get rear-ended the chances of your turn signals malfunctioning would be greatly higher. There’s a reason why rear lights do not go into the bumper anymore.

I have owned 4 new Kia's now ranging from Souls to Fortes. All have been wonderful and I can't picture myself going with any other manufacture. Granted I have had the 6 speed auto in every single one that has been a great transmission so time will tell with the new CVI trans. I'm not going to bash it because this is Kia's version and it might not be the junk CVT's we are used to seeing. But I wouldn't get the 2019 until a few years pass to see how good that CVI really is. BTW I LOVE that red!

13:03, another 2019 Forte. Probably either a media drive (a good chance it's not a media drive), or people are getting excited about the all new Forte.

Great review...But I wonder why reviewer's talk about cars in this class being sluggish as if that's a negative...it's a fricking compact not a race car. I have a 2016 that has been a pleasure to drive. I'm a courier and I have 191,400 miles on it and so far with no issues whatsoever. I change the oil and put gas in it...I'm definitely trading up...This video gave me the little push I needed..

I would say, the exterior looks so good, I just wish they did something else with the interior, what I meant by that is the center console area, it just so old school, I like how the mazda 3 and the civic center console look better. They rise it up and get rid of the hand break. Otherwise the dash look nice. I also hope they increase the power a little bit.

Fuel mileage.

That's the problem most of kia cars transmission and air-condition.

@@JTube571 You could get better fuel efficiency if they weren't so misguided set on mimicking gear shifts.
@rightwingsafetysquad98726 жыл бұрын
+RS1 If it mimics gear shifts, it's not going to get better mileage than a traditional automatic would be slightly worse than a DCT. Most CVTs (including this one I believe) still have torque converters which are the driving reason automatics used to get worse economy than manuals. The only way a CVT does better than an 8-speed automatic is to be truly continuous (or very nearly so because a chain drive will have to move in definite, but tiny, increments) and/or use a clutch instead of a torque converter.
@rightwingsafetysquad98726 жыл бұрын
@RS1 The CVT could be made better than the auto was, but if it is simulating 8 gars (as it is), it's not because of it being a CVT that they get better mileage. Also, please don't compare good autos to the one in the Cruze, despite inventing the automatic transmission, GM's 6 speed auto is absolutely terrible. I'd give more credit to the Atkinson engine and reduced weight for Kia's better mileage over last generation. As for autos doing better than manuals, it's not inherent to the tech, it's because designers of manuals haven't figured out to make 6th and 5th very low ratios like they do in autos, if they did that then manuals would do slightly better than 6-speed autos again.

I remember when Kia first came to the USA theyvwrre cheap mode of transportation and pretty much throw away cars once the repairs added up. Now they've really stepped up their games I would actually consider buying one now.
@jordancatcher66636 жыл бұрын
The forte is just a better car than the refreshed elantra. Styling looks better , interior has better quality , most likely will have the edge in driving dynamics , and space is better. The only reason really to get the elantra is if you don't want a cvt.

This is so damn funny. There were people 10 years ago who drove Ford and Chevy. They said they would not own a Kia. Those same people can't buy a Ford or Chevy 4 door car.

Love that multiport engine. Multiport is self cleaning fuel injection by way of its nature. Direct injection gets the valves and top of cylinder full of carbon sludge and forced you to have to hve extra servicing to clean the valves and oil changes more frequently to avoid some of the build up. I have a GDI right now and its no where near as good maintenance wise as my older car with Multiport EFI.

Drove a new rental forte19 in sport mode for around 300 miles, could not identify that it was a CVT, until I saw your review. CVTs have been really improving over time. Steering feel was also precise in sport mode.

tiago_xx accord not only best looking, best car for the money, stupid idiots that buy Camry don't know why they are buying it. Missing so many features like heated rear seats, cooled seats in front, turbo engine that's faster, better interior, rear legroom way better, more trunkspace, android auto and car play. Literally no reason to buy a Camry when I can list this many features on the top of my head on it. Probably 10 more features the dumb shit Camry is losing.
@uncarriert-mobileusa90136 жыл бұрын
ProVishGaming all those features you've listed are petty. but no matter how you try to defend that ugly car its still unsightly to look at. people want reliability but they also want styling thats easy to look at. accord is one confused hideous object. turbo junk at its finest😂😂 we know smart buyers want simplicity with their powertrains.
