@S G every CVT transmission is giving problems for now because it's a new technology not perfected yet. You know what also is giving problems? Dual Clutch automatic transmissions for same reason. Care to guess what does the 2020 Kia Forte GT has? Also... this video is comparing to the Honda Civic SI which doesn't have a CVT transmission because it's manual. Also, there's no comparison at all between a Kia engine and a Honda engine. Overall quality, Honda is more focused on quality control than Kia is. Honda doesn't work with third party manufacturers for their cars from factory for same reason. That's the reason why Mercedes and BMW are junk and same thing happens with many other car brands. When you have third party companies doing parts for your factory car you can't work the quality control they have and there's a reason their production is cheaper.

I pulled the trigger on one of these myself - in particular one with the GT2 package. I have a few hundred miles on it now and my opinion... is that this is an absolute bargain at sticker price. Obviously depends on what you want out of your car but comparing it just to the Civic Si this car comes with allot more tech at a comparable price point. The other car on my own short list was the Civic Touring, but the GT wins out (for me anyway). Better price point, ventilated seating, blindspot warnings, more intuitive rearview camera display, more stylish interior, and... comparably attractive exteriors (the Civic is more dignified but the Forte more sporty). Honda offers some other features in its car like an onboard sat-nav system, which I just don't know is worth it in this age, heated seating throughout the car (and power seating for the front passenger?) but I'm using my car mostly for commute.

It appears that Kia manufactured some vehicles specifically for reviews to use that had this feature equipped, but the production cars do not include it. I’m currently waiting for Kia’s customer service to email or call me back regarding this but so far, I’m just being told that they’re “looking into the matter”. I recently purchased a brand new KIA FORTE GT2. Let me start by saying this is the 6th KIA product that I have owned. I think KIA has made a great product, but has really missed the mark with customer service and the Apple/Android car play. My Forte GT with the 2 package was a brand new car. After 3 days, I had a major electrical issues with my Forte. With only 300 miles on the car, every warning light and safety systems check came on . The lane departure system also started to attempt to steer the car on its own. The dealer had the car flat bedded back to the dealership and provided a loaner. This was greatly appreciated. My calls to Kia customer service were useless. All you get is a KIA representative taking my info and telling me they would get back to me in a few days. The KIA reps only are able to read off a canned script. I would think if you purchased a brand new car and the car was faulty, KIA would go out of their way to make it right. It took KIA factory reps a week to diagnose and replace an electronic control unit. Let's talk about Apple/Android car play. KIA at one time had one of the best interface media and navigation systems on the market. It was extremely fast and easy to use. In order to use Apple/Android Car play you need to have it plugged into a cable in order to project your phone onto the screen and also to make calls. Let me repeat that, Apple car play needs a cable to plug into a usb port in order for it to work. That is absurd. Any car that I have owned you never needed a cable to plug the phone into in order to use bluetooth for voice recognition. Apple car play is an incredible cumbersome system. I find myself having to pull over to use Google maps and to list the destination. Once the mapping is on the screen, any calls you may receive will remove the navigation. If your phone screen saver activates, you lose everything that is on the screen. If texts come in, it is virtually impossible to have them read to you. It is a huge disappointment. How KIA chose this over their old system is beyond me. Obviously a cost cutting measure. Imagine for over 10 years bluetooth never required you to plug a phone into a cable. Every other car I have owned since 2010 I was able to access my phone wirelessly and easily. There is actually an accessory for $159 dollars making the system wireless. How did Apple get their hands into KIA and basically ruined one of the best media systems on the market is beyond me. The things like about the Forte GT: The interior is well planned. The leather seats are very comfortable. I do love the styling of the car along with the 18 inch wheels. The Forte handles great with the multi link suspension. It has a huge trunk for a compact car. Gas mileage is excellent for mixed driving 34mpg. If I knew of how poorly Apple car play works and poor KIA Factory customer service I probably would have passed on the Forte.

I just drove this car for my channel (video coming out next Saturday), no way it only has 195lb ft of torque, I managed a 0 to 100kmh (62mph) of 6.80 seconds, I estimate it could do 6.5s 0 to 60mph. Great car, in Mexico it is priced even below a Civic Touring or Jetta Highline and those cars are way slower.

It's a shame, I realize the market is shrinking but the original Forte GT was a 2 door, a model Civic still offers with its Sport and Si. On looks alone, I would be tempted, MORE tempted to buy this than the Civic, but Kia dealers are pretty crappy....just barely above Mitsubishi dealers. But the company builds great looking cars, better looking than Hyundai. NOT a fan of Kia's decision to put turn signals low on the bumper, this is not the first Kia to "feature" them.

Prospective buyers should see this presentation. The usual but necessary facts and figures but a really good road segment from the driver’s view. Who knew this car could be so good on it’s own merits. No hoopla just a informal and convincing review. Great shade of blue tops it all off.

If someone wanna buy a 2020 Corolla XSE or Honda Sport or Mid-trim Mazda 3, they seriously give this Forte GT (in Canada, only GT trim is available, DCT, 201 HP, 195 torque, and fully loaded, ~29K CAD MRSP) a try! I personally like Civic SI (manual trans only, 205 HP but its 3K CAD more than Forte GT and it sometimes break the deal). Kia/Hyundai/Genesis are killer! A complete bang of your buck! I never thought 10 years ago I will be owner of a Kia car. I owned Toyota and Honda in past and I do have respect for em! BTW, Toyota, Honda and Mazda should learn how to appreciate the car enthusiasts IMO! This GT aint a super fast car for sure but fast enough to enjoy your ride and smokes many cars on the road, however we should keep in mind that Forte GT aims not only provide us a mid-level performance but also to have a comfortable A to B point daily ride! Independent rear suspension, simple interior looks with tons of features, gorgeous distinctive front grill design, two rear exhaust pipes, riding comfort, overall handling etc make this GT special in this price segment. The safety plus features work so good that you would enjoy your grand tour and wont feel tired! I should tell ya, GT handles the road wind superbly even in very high speed compared with its’ rivals! So IMO, if you don’t care about trim and performance then go for Toyota or Honda because we still believe they are more reliable and have higher after use value! However, KIa/Hyundai aint too far from em in-terms of reliability and within 5 years they will change the whole game, I believe. So far I do love Forte GT and Stinger! Thanks Kia/Hyundai/Genesis!

I was waiting for this car back in January when I had to buy a new car fast. Kia should've launched this car along with the EX Launch edition... then I would've seriously bought this car instead. I bought BRZ Limited with Performance package which I am in absolute love with. However, given how many miles I drive per day for commuting... I sometimes regret that I've bought a passionmobile rather than a fun & sensible daily commuter. It just pains me to see miles rack up on my BRZ (8 months ownership and @ 20k miles). The reason why I did not choose Civic Si or Type R was because I've had Civic Si (FA5) for 11 years, and had Accord V6 and Acura TL even before. I've owned enough Hondas for daily driving and this Kia Forte GT would've been perfect replacement... I am just saving up so I can get me a daily driver (preferably Forte GT or Elantra GT Sport) in near future so I can turn my BRZ into project car. Perhaps there may be a few used ones by then. Mind you, that there is Forte GT 5 door hatch in KDM. I have no idea if that will ever make it to the stateside, but if that car comes... well, perhaps miles currently racking up on my BRZ may be worth for something.

Nope. I’d put it on par with most compact cars on the highway. There’s some road/wind noise but it’s not bad. There is no real drone. You get a decent exhaust sound but it isn’t loud or obnoxious. Kia hit it out of the park with this.

The front passenger gets the short stick in this Forte. No automatic window or power adjusted seat. An electronic parking brake would be nice in order to have the auto brake hold feature but this current Hyundai Elantra/Kia Forte platform doesn't include it.
