As a student in Paris, I was "lucky" enough to experience french police brutality in student protests, occupations, etc. These guys are animals, they are incapable of doing their job properly, all they're looking for is an excuse to use violence, teargass, smoke bombs and plastic bullets. It's ridiculous how in Europe we look at USA's or Russia's police brutality and act all shocked, when in reality France's and many other European countries' police is just as brutal, if not worse.
@marianschoeller87642 жыл бұрын
Doing their job properly? I am sorry but you know what the police at the end is right? It is state owned monopoly on force. At the end their only end goal is to execute what they are told. Be it police men, army etc. Like the examples you have given and billion countless other examples in history, when push comes to shove they have only one master and thats the goverment. And this doesnt necessarily mean that the police men are bad people or that "they cant do their job right" (eventhough few of them cant ofcourse) or that having no police is a better alternative. When you are in army or in police force usually you go there partly with the idea to help people, but crucial part in these jobs is trusting the leadership for better or for worse. What I am basically trying to point out eventhough having police is good and when it works it works but yoh gotta understand the underlying mechanisms behind it, so when push comes to shove and history repeats itself you arent shocked or perplexed by that. Just trying to look out for you and others cutie.

@@marianschoeller8764 Wether you agree or disagree with the protests and you think the police should be intervening is one question. The way the police intervenes is another. In that sense, yes, they're absolutely incapable. When an armed riot police man ( that means with guards, armed, and backup forces surrounding him) shoots plastic bullets at protesters eyes from 5 meter distance because he feels "threatened", then he's incapable of doing his job properly. He's not protecting the citizens and he's causing more violence and chaos than the protest does. Policemen should be chosen and recruited as capable people, not as violent people who only want to spread their hate.

Pressing masses of fans through bottlenecks alone is 80s security management. Since the Loveparade incident in 2010 in Germany where all people were sent through a narrow tunnel and panic break out (21 dead, 652 wounded) we teach everyone in civil protection, paramedics, firefighters, police etc. to avoid exactly that. Security and deescalation comes with wide open spaces and lots of entrances and exits. Even the worst hooligans in the world are nothing against a mass in panic.

To find ourselves trapped behind barricades unable to move for 1.5 hours, with more and more people being allowed to join the crush, with no explanation or organisation from the police, with my wife in tears because we were being crushed, was utterly shocking. Unfortunately I was taken ill whilst we were trapped but the police refused to let me out - thank you to the LFC supporters who lifted me and my wife over the barricades so I could receive (excellent) medical attention. I thankfully recovered and we went in to the stadium- but our view was blocked by 12 people standing in the gangway next to our seats who did not have tickets. All were French speaking, none British. The stewards would not do anything to move or remove them in spite of our requests - an unbelievable safety risk. The whole experience was one of the worst of my life - It cost me thousands of pounds for this frightening level of incompetence. Appalling. Shocking. Distressing. Liverpool fans have been to 62 games this season without any major problems. We’ve been to 6 major European finals since Hillsborough prior to yesterday, and they went off without any issue. And yet yesterday is somehow the fault of Liverpool fans and not shambolic planning by Uefa, French authorities, and heavy handed French police with an authoritarian streak who couldn’t wait to use their military grade toys on men, women, and children who just wanted to watch their team play a game of football. There were several liverpool fans laid out cold on the platforms and the police done absolutely nothing to stop it,, imagine if that was us attacking the locals.. me and my brother boarded our first train of 3 with a fair few supporters, on the train there was some local men shouting in French trying to goad us into fighting, all the fans ignored it and nothing happened, the fans we were with got off at the next stop and it was just me and my brother in this section by ourselves for one more stop, the second the door closed the locals were in our face, being aggressive, luckily we was able to walk through to the next carriage and could see a fair few liverpool supporters in there so stood with them, if it wasn't for that I feel we would have probably spent the night in hospital and we done absolutely nothing wrong, the police weren't there to protect us one bit

I’m French and I want to apologize on behalf of many French citizens who don’t believe the lies of our government. I feel ashamed ! There are many reasons for this chaos, farce, fiasco, call it as you want. 1- 3 months to organize it was too short and they did not take into account that so many fans from Liverpool will come to Paris. They did not manage the flow of the people, from the city to Stade de France. 2- On top of that, there was a strike of the best train line to go to Stade de France, RER Line B, and it made all the British fans taking the RER D which concourses are much too narrow to handle properly such a flow of people at the same time with check points to check tickets 3- there was not enough stewards because they are very difficult to recruit and most of them are inexperienced because since Covid, most of the experience ones found another job, better and more paid. The stewards did not direct the fans toward other concourses to reach the stadium and avoid this bottleneck 4- once the police open the checkpoints to avoid to have injured or dead people because of the crowd movement, it created chaos around Stade de France and this is when the worst happened: the thugs of Saint-Denis, mostly French came to extort and abuse Liverpool fans. Such a disgrace, I feel so bad for Liverpool fans and families. So ashamed as French citizen. 😟🙏🏼 5- Many fake paper tickets blocked the turnstiles of the entrance of Stade de France and so, the genuine ones could not even enter because the turnstiles where blocked. 6- In this chaos, many thugs of Paris suburbs climbed the gate and enter without tickets. 7- all this chaos triggered the decision-making of the chief of the Paris Police to launch assault to disperse all people, the good fans, the French thugs and the fans with no or with fake tickets. By using pepper and tears gas they touched everyone, including kids and women. 8- The biggest blame is of course on the UEFA and the French authorities. It’s for the most part their fault and their responsibility. But, and I know it’s hard to hear for British people, there are so small responsibilities on the other side: French are not used to have the majority of the fans of a team coming to a game without tickets and there was no collaboration between British authorities, Liverpool FC and the French authorities to coordinate it and handle them properly. 2- Even if it was much less than what the French minister and UEFA said, there was thousands of fake or true-fake paper tickets with a valid QR code. Most of Liverpool fans had paper tickets while Real Madrid fans had electronic tickets that can’t be duplicated. It’s a fact and it made the situation of bad organization from French authorities and UEFA even worse. 9- At the end it’s a disgrace and UEFA and French authorities should do their self- criticize. The blame is on them for the most part, but still some responsibilities are also on the other side.

I was at the game with my 12 year old son and was fortunate to have the better Category 1 seats, but walked past the Liverpool end gate and realized straight away that something wasn’t right. Too many people lining up outside and it was causing a bottleneck to get to our gate. But everyone was behaving and waiting in line. Got to our gate and there was zero stewardship to control the line, the fans took it upon themselves to create an orderly line, but again it was creating a barrier for fans getting thru to get to their gates. The line was painfully slow, which makes no sense when using e-tickets. When we got closer to the turnstiles, a full 45 minutes after starting the line, I noticed many Liverpool fans barging in to skip the line and most of them had no valid tickets. The stewards were more like bouncers forcing these people out. The only 2 policemen at the gate did nothing but watch! At this point I must also point out that there were quite a few local youths trying to jump the fence and get in, 2 of them actually made it! The police finally got off their ass and moved the other kids away! Some Liverpool fans tried the same trick and for a few minutes the atmosphere got tense, with genuine Liverpool fans with valid tickets verbally attacking the ones trying to get in illegally. Finally at the turnstile we were thru in 10 seconds, no idea why it had to be slow to get in when the technology is so fast! I did see 2 fans try to get in with one ticket! It was genuine too, but both got kicked out and ticket retrieved!! Now, you would think it’s plain sailing from now on in! Hell no, no one could tell us where was out section T11!! All the stewards were clueless, after 20 minutes of running around based on false information one UEFA steward told us that many people were confused about T11 and told us how yo FIND it!! It had the smallest of signs behind a pillar!! So no police inside the ground, the stewards totally incompetent and once at our seat we couldn’t even order a drink as there was no signal to use the QR code service. For such a large venue not to have a working free-wifi system says it all. I was trying to contact my wife to let her know we were safe but just couldn’t get a signal. We had many empty seats around us and these tickets aren’t cheap. No doubt got caught out in the trouble. I was thinking of staying for the ceremony but my son wanted to leave as he was scared. There was again zero stewardship outside and thousands of us walked into a cul-de-sac of locked gates, no one to indicate how to leave the stadium. There were plenty of gates to the street but were all locked! We ended up walking down a ramp and I feared the over crowding. Plenty of police waiting for us at the bottom but with no suggestions of where to go next! I decided to walk to where the crowds were less dense and finally got an Uber an hour later! Just terrible experience after experiencing Kiev, Madrid, Istanbul, Doha where there were zero issues! Paris should never host another CL Final. Even the fan zone at the Hotel de Ville was crap! No thought put into it! 99.9% of fans behaved, but that 0.01% should be held accountable. Don’t have a ticket? Stay home!! YNWA

This should never have taken place in France after the past 3 years of gang related football violence in the country. French police treat their own countrymen worse than this and people expected to be welcomed? It doesn't take long to search certain websites to find the videos of what really happened and what triggered the whole thing. If you hold an event in Paris you need to expect to have hundreds of foreign born French citizens storming the gates and creating carnage. How were people so unaware of all the violence at French games this season? Or the constant violence outside them. Migrant gangs have created a new wave of Ultras in France, men who have witnessed great violence in their homelands now recreating the scenes on French streets.

I’ve been following Liverpool across Europe for many years - my 1st experience my dad took me and brother in 1981 to our 1st game and subsequently hooked on my beloved Reds - I’ve seen the good and the bad you could say over the years… I moved to Perth Australia 16 years ago / and honestly miss it so much. I made the decision to goto Paris and acquired a ticket via Uefa ‘not cheap’ but just needed to go to see and soak up with the Liverpool FAMILY… After a very long trip I arrived and went straight to my hotel ‘Mob Hotel Paris Les Puces’ maybe the name lived up to the area! But it was the cheapest I could find thinking it was just a base - around 3pm Friday I thought I’d have a quick look around to get my bearing / 5 mins later I was back in the hotel ‘frightening is my only summary’ - In fairness to the Hotel/ Staff = beautiful and very friendly. Match day… all I can honestly I had someone on my shoulder last Saturday! Again reading all the negative comments towards Liverpool ‘so wrong’, I was at the Fanzone very early poorly managed by the police 50,000+ people shoe horned into 3 single entry points - I dIdn’t see any trouble apart from heavy handed police? I decided to head to the ground early just after 3 - pickpockets everywhere on the tube… got off at the stadium station to be greeted by the African ‘French’ locals hurling abuse, spitting and abusing Men, Women and kid’s again police we saw not bothered pretty scary. I said to the lad I was with we just need to get in it was just so hostile/ nearer the ground we watched in amazement 4 of these characters scale a massive wall ‘disbelief to be honest’ again police watching? Presented my phone to get past the 1st entry / someone tried to grab it. I managed to get in the ground early thank God because what happened in the next couple of hours was a joke. I honestly don’t know how I didn’t get mugged after the game / 45 mins to get a taxi in the middle of trouble I was shitting myself as I was on my own! Wake up call for me… the game was irrelevant and Liverpool fans in the ground very deflated / it was very sad + reading all the bad things that have happened - Sunday my flight was at 5pm my plan was to see as much as I could - but at 8am I just went to Airport just needed to get away! Some very sad stories with people returning home. These French refugees are the next generation for Europe! the same ones trying to get over the channel! I’m still in disbelief - especially how it’s been reported and also knowing some of our fans are not perfect/ but I didn’t see any of that last week - only the Red Family looking out for each other. In Sevilla rangers fans had one kiosk open for all our fans and hardly any water in 37c heat. Uefa need to be looked at big time

Unfortunately, we’re seeing what all authorities do. Take no responsibility and push the blame on those who can’t properly defend themselves. Problem is, too many idiots lap it up for the sake of banter. Credit to Sky for their very good reporting of the issues and the many journalists who reported the same. Unfortunately, people would rather listen to random Twitter posts rather than people who were actually there.

I live in Portland, OR - in the US, and I have had the same reaction to police that your wife had. I feel her fear. The police should be on our side not against us. I'm so sorry that the day was marred by such unacceptable behavior. The parade yesterday was beautiful! YNWA

Paul, I have been a Liverpool supporter since 1997, I support them because my brother does. I’m as far away from Liverpool in England as I could be but I absolutely love Liverpool FC. I had no knowledge of supporting your local team etc I just believed you followed who you loved so that’s what me and my brother do. I’ve always loved watching your channel and RedMenTV, you guys really transpire that message of togetherness that I love about LFC. Anyway I don’t know what point I’m trying to make other than my heart is red and I think the work you do is phenomenal. Keep up the great work mate ❤️
