The reason Lilo gives Pudge a sandwich is as she believes controls the weather and her parents died in a storm so she thinks if gives the fish a sandwich then bad weather won’t happen to cause anyone else to lose someone. Also if you look in the background of Nani's room you will not only see a Mulan poster, but many surfing trophies and she gave it all up to raise Lilo. Which going into the next point when they first showed the film to test audiences they were confused thinking Nani was Lilo's mom so to clarify this they have the word "Sister" said many times throughout the film.

@lordshenfan6625 Still very hard and scary for someone who just lost their family and is suddenly expected to care for a child all by themselves. My mother had her first child at 19 and had my dad supporting her but I still think it’s really sad and must have been very scary for her. I’m almost 22 and I’d never want to imagine myself in her situation. Maybe now I could handle it but it’s relatable to see how much she’s struggling to take care of a child suddenly all by herself. Of course they kept going, that’s all you can do, doesn’t mean it wasn’t a very difficult period in their life

Some Lilo & Stitch fun facts: Lilo & Stitch along with Mulan and Brother Bear were all animated at the former backlot of Disney's Hollywood Studios (then called Disney-MGM Studios) at Walt Disney World in Florida! The voice of Lilo is Daveigh Chase, who you might know as the little girl in The Ring OR Chihiro Ogino in the English dub of *SPIRITED AWAY!* Initially, the writers wanted the film to take place in rural Kansas, where Stitch would be isolated from wreaking havoc on the things around him. Later, the setting was changed to Kauai. According to Dean DuBlois, a tour guide explained the idea of "ohana" to them and how the concept was an important part of the island's lifestyle. After this visit, they incorporated the idea of ohana to the movie.

She even won an award for it! She’s not just another English dub of a Japanese franchise because Samara and Sadako are 2 different ppl with diff backgrounds. Lilo is a close 2nd fav of mine. Daveigh rules! I really use her!

They did a lot of research on Hawaii before they even started storyboarding and it paid off. I think the director also said he wanted to show a Hula as a legitumate skill and art as it never got any respect in hollywood beyond being seen as a sort of stripper move.

My son loved this movie! He laughed so hard at Stitch's antics when he was little. But most importantly, the lesson at the end helped my son accept us as a broken family. My son's father abandoned us and I had to raise him on my own and there was a time when he has anger issues towards his father and I asked him, 'Do you feel incomplete?" He was silent...then I went on to say, "The 2 of us...we are family. Like what Stitch said 'small and broken...but still good' and it was important that he was able to relate it to the movie and in his young mind (he was 9y/o at the time), he was able to see that it's okay if there's only a Mama and no other siblings, it's okay to be lonely sometimes, it's okay to have bad days because there will be better days ahead. He learnt not to miss what he didn't have, he learnt that even without a father...our life goes on and we learned to complete our happiness with the help of friends and family. ❤---🇵🇭

This movie is really special not only because I can literally word for word the entire intro up to the title sequence but when I visited Disney in Orlando they were actually working on the film and I got to see animation in progress during the animation tour as well as watch the lead for Stitch draw him live. The song Nani sings to Lilo after Cobra Bubbles tells her that he is going to take Lilo away is Aloha 'Oe, which was written by the last queen of Hawaii and, if I remember right, she sang it to her people after the US forced her to give up Hawaii to the US. It really says a lot about what Nani is feeling in the moment. A deep sorrow, a sense of duty, the gnawing feeling of failure, complete hopelessness.

The silly "pizza box oven door" Lilo hides behind was originally a dryer sitting next to the washer. After the film's original DVD release, Disney didn't want to encourage children to hide in dryers, so they edited the dryer into a shelf with a pizza box in front of it in all future versions, however, they only changed it in that one scene and you can see the dryer later in the film. Continuity errors 🤪 People just recently started to notice the edit after the launch of Disney+ included this version of the film.

This is one of Disney’s classic movies that has appeal to kids but was adult enough people would be willing to sit through it with the kids. Stayed at my friends house for a weekend and his parents took us to watch it in the Cinema, safe to say it was a treat, the themes in the movie are so universal yet the film doesn't feel pandering in any way, Lilo although precocious always acts and reacts honestly like a clever kid that age would, Nani's situation is both tragic yet heartwarming as she tries her best to keep the family together, David could've been simply a comedic character but he understands Nani, gives her space and is there when both of them need support, 10/10 masterpiece, even the animated series is surprisingly good *PS. Obviously no need to mention the music 😍

"Oh good, my dog found the chainsaw!" One of the best lines ever crated for a movie. It is utterly random and spoken by a child, perfection. This movie is so good. This movie was very nearly locked and done editing when 9/11 happened. They had to completely reanimate the climactic scenes because originally... Stitch and crew stole a 747 and flew it through downtown Honolulu, nearly wrecking several buildings. They basically animated over as much as they could and created new for the shots they couldn't. So the 747 became the giant red spaceship, downtown buildings turned into the mountains and valleys. There's a video of the original out there on KZbin. It's impressive how quickly they were able to turn around on this.

Lilo and Stich is one of the first movies I remember seeing in theaters at least 3 times. Throughout the years every time I watch it breaks me, the hammock scene... Idk exactly what it is about this film that hits so hard, but the relationship between Nani and Lilo feels like the crux of it.

One of my favorite franchises Disney has ever done. I love all the movies, I grew up watching and loving the show, I even have, I think, a 1:1 size Stitch plushie I got at the Times Square Disney Store years ago.

As a Hawaii boy this is nice blend of cultural references and just a good original story and IP. It also happens to be the 50th anniversary of Elvis's infamous Hawaii Concert. We owe Elvis for Funding the Arizona Memorial. His imprint on Hawaii is more than just a plot point.

As a native Hawaiian living in Hawai'i, it's almost impossible to not have seen this movie at any point growing up (though, as I grew up I ended up getting mixed feelings about the representation, especially being fortunate enough to grow up learning about/experiencing both traditional and contemporary Hawaiian culture)

11:35 Cool curiosity the reason why Lilo was hiding behind a pizza box is because it was originally a clothe dryer but after some time disney told them to substitute it afraid of kids hiding inside dryers ang getting hurt.

I highly recommend you look up stuff about this movie. Like how Lilo in Hawaiian means "pulled apart" so the name of the movie is literally "Pulled Apart and Stitched Together." They also had to completely change the climax of the movie because of 9/11. You can find the original online. Also several deleted scene between Lilo and Nani that were taken out because it "made Nani look too much like Lilo's mother" like one where Nani tells Lilo a bedtime story.

11:41 This scene was edited for Disney Plus. Originally she was hyping in their dryer, but people thought their kids would take after Lilo here and climb inside their dryers, so they changed it to a cabinet with a pizza box

11:52 that pizza box next to a washer is from the censored version, they didn't like the idea of Lilo hiding in a dryer in the original for safety reasons for they changed it from a dryer door opening to a pizza box

11:47 - when Lilo hides behind the pizza box. This scene was actually adjusted for Disney+. The original scene had Lilo hiding in a dryer but Disney was worried that kids would imitate her. 😅

Fun fact the spaceship chasing scene had to be completely redrawn from the original you can find the original here on KZbin, fully voiced too. The original scene had stitch in the crew stealing a 747 and flying it through the city destroying buildings, it had to be redrawn because guess what happened just before this movie was finished (this came out in 2002 mind you). Honestly I think the redrawn scene is better than the original

This is my all time favorite from childhood!!! Absolutely everything in it is lovely and heart warming. Also about Nani's surfing skills: she actually used to compete and probably stopped after her parents passed so she could support Lilo, but in the scenes in her bedroom you can see all the trophies and medals she got from surfing, so yeah, she is quite good at it!
