I can see why this season took 3 years to make! Not only is the writing and voice acting top tier, the animation is mind blowing. You could pause at any frame of this show and it looks like it should be shown at the Louvre. Especially the funeral scene for Caitlyn’s mother.

The "green juice" technology is the kinda the original version of what you know as Shimmer in the LoL lore. It's just a mishmash of chemicals, most of which are extremely toxic, therefore technology that utilizes it is known as "Chemtech". In the lore originally, Chemtech is considered Zaun's specialty to rival Piltover's Hextech. Season 1 retconned this a little bit by introducing Shimmer, which is pretty much the same as Chemtech chemicals, while also being a highly addictive drug and steroid. Basically think of Shimmer like a "popular brand" of Chemtech made by Silco, which is why Renni (the chainsaw lady) uses her own stuff. Since she and Silco were rival Chem-Barons, she wouldn't use his product for her own technology. You're all good for thinking it's Shimmer, because it is pretty much just Shimmer.

Shimmer seems to have a magical aspect to it, while normal Chemtech does not.

I think of it as, Shimmer is one of the many Chemtech fuel. Invented by Singed through Rio mutation. Probably "better" than other fuel, hence it's more popular. But, the side effect is worse.

They created the soundtrack specifically for the show. They would often animate scenes with other music playing over it to get an idea of the tone of the scene. Then when the scene was finished they make the song to put over it so it matches exactly what they are showing.

Last scene in the final episode of the first season, armor on Mel's back shimmers before we cut to the rocket. This season, when Jayce is lamenting the damage done to Victor by the rocket, he comments on how he and Mel escaped scot free. Pointedly, Mel dodges the question here, again hinting to something protecting them.

It's not surprising that Riot Games and Netflix want to wrap up Arcane in just 2 seasons. If the reports were accurate, it cost around $200M to produce and market seasons 1 and 2 combined. And every dollar amount really shows up in the quality of each episode. This animated series will probably be tough to beat for years to come.

This is not just an animated show though, it’s a genuine WORK OF ART. It was same with season 1. The first two episodes had pacing weirdly sometimes throwing off or giving less time for some characters etc. but they were able to bring everything together by episode 3 and forward, I expect same here.. i was feeling that some things were weirdly rushed and some weirdly slow but by episode 3 it made sense, especially the mole storyline and the science story had great pay offs.. hopefully they can keep up the same level of building up and up till it finally comes down pattern of s1 this season too.
