@@cjstats1514 What? There is a literally a story in the movie and there’s not a lot of subplots, but that doesn’t equal a lot of story to have multiple plots. Someone spouting exposition isn’t a good way to tell a story where it’s tight in A New Hope. No story would mean something is just action scenes even though action scenes are a tool of storytelling so you don’t know what you’re talking about. You get enough backstory from Obi-Wan in A New Hope and the music with the twin suns as Luke looks off is a ton of story. That was the classic “Show, don’t tell” where you know how Luke is feeling in that moment. You don’t seem to understand story at all and would probably think Primal as a show has very little story since there’s no dialogue.

There’s something about Snyder and Netflix purposefully releasing an incomplete movie so that a “better” complete Director’s Cut could be released later. It’s being sold as Snyder wanting to give more to the audience but in the end what it really is is a major cash grab. Especially because they didn’t try to make this movie work in theatrical version. My criticisms of this move **SPOILER** The characters and their backgrounds were awesome but they dont have chemistry with each other. We havent seen them interact with each other so it fell short. Kai’s betrayal was really too fast, no connection with Kora and the group so we dont really for his betrayal nor his death. Darrian Bloodaxe’s death was very annoying and too fast. He was an interesting character but he was underdeveloped and died too soon. They should spent more time in establishing the group’s connection and explore more with the dynamic. Zack Snyder should have made a series and not a two part movie because stories like this good when you format them like a series with multiple seasons or a novel.

I thought it was fun. Maybe a bit silly, but compared to every over-milked franchises? Geez, yes please! Gimme something entertaining and pretty and new, I dont care how non-sensical and full of slow mo. And I don't get the star wars comparisons. To me, it's Kurosawa's 7 samurai in Warhammer 40k.

Zack Snyder really needs to stop using sexual assault as a way to show someone is bad. It happens far too often in his films.

@@larryreed8644 This is the 4th time it has happened. If you want to excuse Watchmen as an adaptation which wasn’t his idea, that’s fine. However, he co-wrote 300, Sucker Punch, and Rebel Moon. The rape in 300 was not from the comic when Queen Gorgo only appears in the beginning. He defaults to it and doing it in 4/10 movies is not exactly good with 3 being his idea.

Why do I feel like Kora is the one that killed the king and his daughter and we're going to find out about it in the second part?

I can understand why there isn't much background for the main characters at all, but lets remind ourselves Star Wars A New Hope didn't share too much background for any of the characters when it first came out either. I pray Rebel Moon Part 2 will offer more than it already has. I love Zach Snyder's films because of the drowning dystopian filter used for the cinematography, the slow-motion shots, the god-like character physique, the diversity etc. Snyder is a visionary and i thank him for sharing his version of a galactic dystopian sci-fi project

WOW. Greg - You said it. Zack Snyder is the only one who should be held accountable for a theatrical cut sucking vs the director’s cut. So, so many directors in similar genres manage just fine within the confines of a 2 hour movie. What a waste of good visuals. Just make a good 2-hour movie, damn.

Just spitballing here. The girl in the village is the princess. Her and Kora left during the coup. Maybe. Idk. I’m sure I missed some dialogue that points differently.

The sentient nature of Jimmy the droid and seeing him exhibit emotion is so beautiful. You can see from the eyes the way he expresses he is about show sadness, wanting to cry. You have the bicentennial man quality to Jimmy the Droid where he is yearning to understand human nature.

I think the movie itself was good. Not perfect, not decent, just good. I just feel like it really wasted on some potential. The protagonists feel so randomly thrown together and some stuff just doesn’t make sense. How were they able to find the admiral so easily? Couldn’t have the empire just done the same thing to find him, as he was hunted? This is just one of the things that I don’t think were quite thought through or were just completely taken a shit on during production. First half of the movie was boring and felt like diet Star Wars, sorry but the brutal truth. 2. half was quite better. The end fight was decent. Could have been better, but it was well enough. The betraying of the pilot came kinda shocking and was a good plot twist. The villains are pure evil. Like the purest evil of evil. Almost so evil that they’d make concurrence to what they are based of: the no no Germans. I like that, the more evil the enemies are, the more important the fight feels that is being fought. All together maybe a 6-7/10 but I really believe part 2 will be better. Not giving up on rebel moons potential yet!

What people fail to understand, seven samurai movies were all made with quick backstories and vagueness. Snyder just followed suit. If you want depth, go look at the anime samurai seven, it’s episodic. Also understand this is one of three movies, so in the end this movie will make more sense when you look back at it.

I feel bad for people that would rather pretend to be film experts rather than having an actual imagination and have the ability to just enjoy something vs doing nothing but tear things down. It is a pathetic way to live. I appreciate what you guys had to say about the movie in your reaction for sure and it is very reasonable however I feel you guys suffer from some of the same stuff that these self proclaimed experts in the comments and abroad in that you dont always have to criticise, it is possible to just sit back and say you had fun in something. Too many people are just incapable of that I guess. I give the movie a 6.8/10. im not going to dwell on the things I found negative about it as there were things for certain, however I had fun at the world building knowing there is so much more to come to bring us the depth we needed in this movie.

I really liked the movie until they went to find the rebel team members, and I liked what they were trying to set up at the end. But…yeah, midway through the team quests I did think- why do I care though? I liked the AI droid, what’s going on with him? I am interested enough that I will watch the director’s cut, and if I like it, I’ll watch the director’s cut of Part II…but I’ll skip the PG-13 Part II either way.
