Yeah it's a really good case for why Morris is *likely* real. It wouldn't make sense for the demon to give her all of that information and risk losing her as a host. That’s what I thought too. Basically after her episode with all the dancers in the apartment, she did check in to the rehab centre and received the call from the real Gemma, but I do believe she never went to Staten Island to see Morris. That was all the Entity. She just drove to the arena to perform the concert where the movie ends.

The Smile movies are so bleak. I see a lot of comments saying they are about conquering mental illness but I disagree. It's about a literal spirit/demon that uses your trauma against you and even if you manage to face your trauma ( like in Smile 1) it's almost irrelevant because the demon is older/smarter/crueler amd is just using what it finds in your mind as a tool... it doesn't get rid of it and it will never stop.
@LeaRe3d
@LeaRe3d Ай бұрын
I think you make great points and that on the contrary, these points affirm the entire metaphor about mental illness to me because for some people... living with a disability of the mind is chronic, incurable and potentially dangerous, thus why this demon forces it's host to take their own lives.

Like Morris, there may have been multiple people who would've understood the entity's M.O. I think the entity felt threatened that it won't survive by latching on one person at a time, because there may be a chance that someone like Morris won't wait around for the host, and just end them himself. Which is why Riley became a perfect host. Hell, the entity called Riley over itself. Lewis didn't message Riley to come over. She was set up from the beginning. And the fact that she was recovering only exacerbated her situation, as no one would ever believe her.

When the entity put its hand in her mouth at her house, that's when it achieved total body control. The entity was controlling her body, while her mind was stuck in a limbo, which is the part we saw in the movie. The last time entity released her was on stage, when it wanted to play the last step.

The idea of what they did with the ending by having the entire stadium see it is a potential evolution of the rules of Smile that I did not see coming, but I am all here for if they want to make a third film go bigger. Could this entity get passed off to people like that? Making it so that it becomes a disease. Eventually, to the point where almost everyone has it.👀

Naomi Scott acted THE HELL out of this role, goddammit she was phenomenal! 1:01:10 - I can only imagine Roxy Striar's face seeing this scene HAHAHA homegirl hates needles And since this one stablishes that the entity went viral, I think that the clever way to go about a 3rd installment is making it a prequel, it could be about that first girl who passes the curse to Rose in the first movie (she was barely in the movie but she did GREAT) or to go even further in the past and try to explain when it all started, who was the first person infected by this? I think that would be a very cool way to explore the lore without ruining what we already have.

Another great reaction guys! This was a great sequel. You felt for the main character and could feel her descent into hopelessness & madness. Just a phenomenal performance by Naomi Scott! One thing I found interesting was the 'eye' references. In Riley's apartment, while she plays the piano, there is an eye sculpture to the left of it. The "dancers" knock Riley unconscious by slamming the right side of her face into the piano, blacking her right eye, but it's her left eye from the viewer's perspective. The last stab to Riley's mother was to her right eye; again our left. Right after her mother is killed, there is an eye pattern in the blood on Riley’s gown. And Riley uses the microphone to impale herself into her right eye, our left. Not sure of the significance, if any, of it but thought it was an interesting insight. Looking forward to Smile 3!
