This movie wasn't quite as good as the first two, but it had it's great moments, I love how well Gru and Dru bond, Lucy connecting with the girls, and of course, Balthazar Bratt is a hilarious villain.

I feel like a better emotional arc for this movie could've been to introduce the brother and have him come into Gru's world and then maybe have the film centre around their relationship with their mother, maybe having the mother immediately take to Dru in a way she never did with Gru and tackle that. It was something they made light of in the first two films but would've made a good focus point for the third, either having Gru find his own self worth without his mother's approval OR having the mother come to admit how proud she is of her son and such. In this movie, it just never felt like there was a solid emotional arc for any of the characters unlike the first time which genuinely make me teary eyed.

So after they made “Minions” the way they started making illumination movies for a while is by letting the crew draw up storyboards and then finding ways to fit them together which is why it feels over the place The only exceptions are The Grinch and Super Mario

There was, or is a webcomic called Evil Inc two of the characters in it are a superhero and super villain who fell in love and got married. They have a clear personal/work divide in their lives and are very loving at home in their civilian identities while fighting in their powered ones.

Yeah the multiple story lines felt like they were made just so they could fill the runtime, it’s entertaining but isn’t well rounded in the ways the other 2 movies were. The minion movies are great though so please don’t be put off by this I definitely recommend them. Surprising amount of emotion from the minion movie.

While How to Train Your Dragon is my favorite movie, I think Kung fu Panda is a better trilogy. The Hidden World was not a good finale to the dragon trilogy, which is a shame, because it had amazing potential.

I felt that with this film they had two different, good, ideas, but couldn't decide which yo go with, so they decide to both and try to make it fit. And I don't think that worked. I think the story of trying to get their job back with this villain, with Lucy learning how to connect with the girls more, would have been one film and the whole twin brother tempting him back to villainy thing should have been a different film.

Sometimes I think you don't enjoy a film as much as you should, because you constantly over-analysis it, instead of just being in the moment. Sure, a critique (at the end) can be useful, but many of us just want to see you enjoy a film as much as we had enjoyed it!
