I've bought Ald bfs 22, because of its weight. I own lots of light reels: Steez CT, Steez Air, Abu MGXtreme 2. Now Ald 22. I had always feeling the ultralight reel should be lightweight. But stiil had an interest about 23 CC bfs. Ordered one finally. Will see either I will love it or sell after first fishing

Hello friend and congratulations, beautiful comparison video for two beautiful BFS. Sorry if there may be some writing errors, I follow you from Italy. Congratulations also for your expertise, you can see that you put a lot of passion into it! Sorry I'm not so expert on BFS, I bought a '17 Calcutta Conquest BFS Hg left in Japan, for light bass and sea bream fishing, with rubbers and small hard baits. As I understand from your video, and hearing from a Japanese friend who owns both, the new model is slightly smaller with a slightly larger gear (Shimano's quirks, which has also accustomed us to fixed spools); the body is totally metal, compared to the internal cheeks of the old model right? Surely the new model has some important innovations, due to the smaller and lighter spool, which allows you to cast even 1g weight lures. But in terms of design I prefer the '17 Calcutta, due to the fascination with which I met them. I will certainly also buy the new model to combine with a Graphiteleader Nuovo Finezza Prototype s.t. I have been excited for this reel for a while. Ended up buying an Aldebaran instead of waiting. Still consider one of these, beautiful reel, but worry about the aluminum gears (my Aldebaran is rock solid so far though, using 7lb fluorocarbon and fishing more bass style BFS lures).

I've got the 23, but not the 17. The thumb box (area to thumb the spool) in the 23 seems awfully small and deep. Does that area seem smaller in the 23 compared to the 17?

yeah the new reels "thumb box" is noticeably smaller. Its going to be hard to pick out birds nests on this one lol

Get some calipers. If you can afford this reel, you can afford a pair of calipers. That way you can relay part size comparisons to the viewers.

tackle heaven is a high price for reels and they give you a bait it’s not free you pay for on the reel because I got one or two reels from them digitaka is cheaper than them people that’s where I buy my stuff from now on I can wait on them

I think this reel is honestly THE most overrated reel that has come out in most recent memory. It doesnt cast far, the aluminum will probably weear out faster than the 17. Alderberan is probably the best BFS reel still

🤔 Can't you guys get the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Mörrum in the US? That one is at least close to a BFS and a similar size to the Calcutta Conquest afaik.
