Interesting fact about this song: Conway Twitty wrote this song a few months after he opened Twitty City in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The tourist attraction was seen as out of character for his persona as a club didn't make sense for his music (at the time) but he really wanted to push that you can have country music in a club. He wrote this song as a way to advertise how cool the complex is. The move worked and it became popular throughout the 80s.

Recorded in 1981 during the height of FittyMania, "In Da Club" became the highest grossing country song of the year. This coincided with the opening of Fitty City and was used during the opening ceremony to mark 100 million million sales of the single. Colonel Sanders would later cover the song on his album "Just the Herbs"

Those were the days just waiting to hear what was going to drop next. On a side note I was at the infamous 1983 show in Philly when the riots broke out after fitty was hurt after the 2nd song when the giant horse prop fell on him. It was a scary night watching everyone burn the place to the ground.

@@rickandbrandonshow Interesting that you should mention the infamous "giant horse prop" from that ill-fated performance--it was actually on exhibit in the Museum of Pop Culture (MOPOP) in Seattle until just this last June, when a routine inspection found that it was actually filled with tens of thousands of rats. Of course, it had to be destroyed--a true loss of a cultural gem!
