Today's video is Part 2 of Ren Baron's US Tour 2021. On today's flight we will be flying from Albuquerque to Oklahoma City through some nasty IMC conditions that will test both my skills as a pilot and the capabilities of my Cirrus SR22T Gen 6.
Over the course of 15 days we flew 23 flight legs over 23 states, over 6,000 miles and 52 hours in the cockpit. We flew through good weather and bad weather and our little Cirrus performed like a charm. We came back with a bag full of memories which I'll be sharing over the next few weeks.

Thanks Skip. You are correct. That SR22 is alot of airplane. When we first got it I probably had alot more plane than pilot but I've worked hard to catch up. On this trip we used just about every feature of the plane from avionics, on board weather, sat phone, anti-icing, to oxygen and more. Now I just can't imagine flying anything else. The wife and I are very lucky to have it. Cheers-Ren

G,day to the Ren Baron from Sydney Australia. * That was an impressive IMC flight, without a dought. * The SR-22 with its de-icing system and two Garmin (G3000)? Is really advantaged. * I still noticed receiving ATC vectors around the weather cell: They must have doplar radar. * The O2 stayed on

Refer to my worst 10 minutes as a pilot video and I think we can eliminate the "editing out the un-gracious parts" idea. Ren, the controller did an excellent job providing weather information and vectors. Always remember that weather advisories are an "additional service" and if the controller is busy separating aircraft they may not be able to provide as much information as you received on that flight. Most controllers will go out of their way to help all aircraft in weather situations just keep in mind that the primary purpose of the ATC system is to prevent collisions between aircraft operating in the system. (FAA Order JO 7110.65 para 2-1-1)
@TheRenBaron
@TheRenBaron 3 жыл бұрын
Roger that. But I will say that 95% of the controllers I've had the good fortune of speaking with have gone out of their way to help. It's a beautiful thing and speaks volumes about the pilot community. We could use more of that spirit on the ground! Thanks for posting. Cheers-Ren

Awesome flight. I was wondering when watching if you got a nice tail wind? I didn’t pause when you had the PFD showing to see. I’m always interested in GS. And I use the weather feature that shows wind speeds aloft to help choose the most efficient altitude. I find it interesting and positive you don’t have the iPad mounted lately. I like where you have it for easy reference. Great IFR flight!

wilzboy: I do the Hudson Corridor a few times a year, but ask for 1,500 ft. Class Bravo Flight Following clearance so I can stay above the copter traffic. Also if you start from the North (M. Cuomo Bridge), you go down the Hudson to the "Lady" hugging the NJ side, turn around at the Verrazano and if you ask in advance, LGA would let you up the East River and dead East over the Tower Cab at 1,500 ft. over LGA, an impressive thing you still can do. You leave the Bravo over LI Sound and return to the base, in my case KHPN.

@micheldelafontaine3630 3 жыл бұрын
@@wilzboyz If you can get Bravo clearance at 1,500 ft. starting from the south, ask for the East River on the LGA Tower Cab. You follow the east River meanders (stay away from the Brooklyn side) to the Northern tip of Roosevelt Island and then sharp turn to 090. The controller will ask if you are familiar with that procedure - answer yes if you are sure to follow the above to the letter - no deviation accepted and it goes very fast with a SR22, even at 40% power. I use the Heading on autopilot. Depending on the time of day you get a fabulous view of downtown NYC (at least your passengers get to see it). Mornings are best. After LGA, you get cleared to the Sound head to Calverton (CCC) and then to KFOK

I have a net worth of over 18,000,000 and probably more and a gross income of 1.2 million. Is there a rule of thumb you used to check the affordability of a plane? Is a used cirrus something i should consider? Like a 2011? I make my money from real estate investing, development and building.
