Thanks again for taking the time to put these videos together. Very educational, and inspirational as I prepare to take the IFR written.

Good video and example of the potential challenges of flying IFR.

It was a good example of why I like flying IFR in the crowded LA airspace. Those controllers are like a second set of eyes!

Love watching your videos, I wonder if any of your pilot friends are left handed and therefore would like to know how they cope with recording ATC in-flight instructions?

Hello, I would like that you do a video explaining in details the operational cost of the SR22t for all of us that want to buy one. Thanks.

Let me see what I can do on that one Schelbin. Cheers-Ren

Nice flight. Nice video. It might have been beneficial to use your full callsign when similar callsigns are on the frequency; especially if the controller uses your full callsign. He also could have issued a caution for the similar callsigns.
@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It does not happen often but next time it does I'll use full call sign on all calls to approach instead of just first call.

Do you believe all those checklists enhance or detract from safe flight? I know that CSIPs train you to use them but, having recently accompanied a factory ferry pilot in my new SR22T on the flight from the factory to CA (it’s a leaseback airplane for the next few months) I can tell you they don’t. What do you think?
@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
I find them incredibly useful to make sure I’ve covered all the bases. The ferry pilots fly every day. Most folks don’t. I flew with young Cirrus Pilot from Knoxville and he was very disciplined about the checklists.

What was the yellow caution message on your PFD?

Fuel warning caution light. Never want to see red on that one! Cheers-Ren

The TEC routes (like SMOP36) don't exist in the G1000 database, do they? Do you enter SMO and VNY in the G1000 route?
@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
The TEC routes are listed in the chart supplements and are really just shorthand for specific routes within the So Cal airspace. I’m going to post a little video explaining how they work.
@briank19165 жыл бұрын
@@TheRenBaron Yes, thank you, but you didn't answer my question. I know that the text (route waypoints) can be found in the A/FD (now known as Chart Supplement). I am not a ForeFlight user, so I wondered if you were able to just type in "SMOP36" or "P36" to get the waypoints "SMO" & "VNY" into your flight plan that you then transferred over to the G1000. Or, did you need to type the two waypoints "SMO" & "VNY" into your route manually.
@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
@@briank1916 Well I typically use Foreflight to build my flight plan and then input to the FMS so I've never actually tried entering SMOP36 directly. Once I've uploaded to the FMS the waypoints are inserted. You might want to consider using Foreflight. I'll post a video showing you how shortly. Or I suppose you could just look in the Supplements and enter the waypoints manually into the FMS.

Hey man, I enjoy your videos. I’m working on my VFR training out of SMO, just passed my written yesterday. Question for you is I always hear you say an elevation then “out of the box” I’ve search and no results, is this slang?
@TheRenBaron5 жыл бұрын
The correct terminology would be “3,000 initial altitude expect 4,000 in 5 minutes” as part of IFR clearance. Bad habit.
