After watching this enjoyable short tutorial, i managed to recoil my starter in 1/3 of this perfect video lenght that gives just the right amount of additional information for someone who might need the full explanation. Well done, ill never be flustered by another intact spring id like to reuse.

Thanks for keeping it short. Some channels turn the simplest tasks into a 30 minute show. Whenever I look for a repair on KZbin, I go to the shortest one first, then if that doesn't help, I go to a longer one. What I don't want see for this repair is a 10 minute history of recoil rope starters, and the trip to the hardware store before getting to the task at hand . That's probably just impatient me, though.

Very good demonstration. The first time I had to do this was years ago (before KZbin). I spent hours trying to figure this out. Simple once you know but a painful thumb experience when you don't. Stay safe, Joe Z

My God is it ever a pain in the ass to figure out how that damn spring can be manipulated back. I was having a hell of a time trying to get the spring coil back and than I just took a trip to ole KZbin to see if someone knew what the hell I didn't and this video popped up and saved the chainsaws life because I was finna throw that thing down the f$#in street 😂

This mower has been kicking for about 10 years now. Always had a short cord on it after the original snapped and other minor issues with the recoil starter kzbin.infoUgkx-NCBSqqKJlyQ5_JGS_STpsFYihe7bmM3 until I finally had to open it up in an attempt to feed in a new line. I noticed it was all rusty and the coil was going but upon dismantling it was too much of a pain to get it all back in there correctly and opted to just get a new one. not sure why i waited so long to do so but it was a cheap, easy fix and it would have saved me hours of fiddling with the old rusty coil or trying to pull start and having cheap make-shift lines break in my hand during a pull. If yours is scuffed just replace it!

Great directions, yet I've nearly finished winding the spring numerous times and it pops off or it pops off once I try to install it on the saw. I eventually got it after like 15 tries. I used a vice grip to hold the spring in the slot and it took 3 attempts at installing the spring with the rewind string before it took. So basically this 20 minute job took me an hour and 20 minutes and a lot of choice words.
@jasonfreitag11002 жыл бұрын
Today I used those same words! Finally almost had it and used needle nose pliers to hold and twist from the bend in the middle... and finally!!

nice explanation. some people use a nail driven into the workstop to hold the outside end of the coil and then wind it tight and put a zip tie around it to hold it until you are ready to put it into the housing. definitely wear safety googles. there is a lot of pent up 'potential energy' in that coiled spring. also.. be prepared to use every curse word you know..when it takes you several attempts 😅...

l have a Giantz 75cc 22'' chainsaw. This chainsaw has 2 springs, one ( assuming) sucks the rope in which is 6mm, other is 12mm starts the engine. After l changed the snapped spring (12mm) Everything was ok till l tried starting it. There was only one revolution which wasnt enough to start it. l fooled around with for a while but, l coudnt work it out. Where did l go wrong? Thank you for sharing such a helpful video :)
