Let’s try this again😉 You boys are rap… you boys are hip-hop… and you guys are 100% urban culture, straight through and through. Absolutely love your energy, enthusiasm and appreciation for Ren’s talent, and also for the legends of rap that have come and gone and the OG’s that are still with us. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again - I really hope that the Renegades and newer viewers take the time to look into your own original work. I’ve checked out some of your own, original tracks and videos (still need to do some liking , sharing and commenting) and it is undeniable that you guys have rap and Easy Coast hip-hop flowing through your veins. The Renegades know all too well that one of Ren’s mantras is, “A rising tide lifts all ships”. So I truly hope that they not only stop by to subscribe and watch their favorite twin reactors praise their favorite Sick Boi, but also take the time to lift the sails of the Strawhat Dynasty. I’ve watched a lot of the “rappers react to Ren videos” reactors and you guys are by far the most gifted and talented that I have seen. And it is clear that you are dedicated and have been working so hard to get to that next level… and beyond. So I really, truly hope that the rising tide of Renegades and newer viewers that have gotten onboard your channel, also give you guys some well-deserved flowers and help provide a catalyst to elevate you. Much love and respect!!!🫡 👊🫶

@@StrawhatDynasty 👍You guys are very welcome! Thanks for showing so much love to Ren!! Looking at just your YT catalogue, it’s clear that you’ve been grinding and pouring yourselves into your music (and breakdancing) for at least 8 years. But I am sure it has been much longer than that. Hopefully your great and hilarious reactions to Ren (and others) will give you “The Big Push” - 😉just a shameless plug to also check out Ren’s band at some point. A reaction channel could easily use both approaches on a single video. The reactor could watch the song video the whole way through, uninterrupted, first in order to provide an authentic first impression to the overall song. This would be a "big picture" overview. Then, the reactor could go back through the song again to provide a more detailed break down. The overall feeling and flow of a song is often lost when it is interrupted with many starts and stops. The more lengthy two-step approach I'm suggesting would be a win-win, achieving the benefits of both different approaches.
@johnshea5967

@@chrissekely Hi Chris, I completely understand what you are saying, and yes, to a degree that would work, however, people would still moan about the pauses in the second watch, after all, people watch for the reactors reaction.Doing what you suggest would mean that the reaction videos , would have to longer, and I guarantee people would then complain about that.Best wishes to you.

@johnshea5967 Thank you! Unfortunately, I do agree with you about how many people would likely respond. Maybe this could be fixed by reading two videos? The first one being the non-stop, more holistic response and the second being the more detailed break-down.

Nice reaction bois, as always! The ‘Pac’ pronunciation - I’m Welsh and I’ve always pronounced the stage name 2Pac as if it were 2pack, to rhyme with Mack, and it’s what I’ve heard others say around me here, and also by folks from Scotland and parts of England too, mostly the North and the Midlands, but I can’t remember how it’s pronounced in the South of England, Northern Ireland or The Republic of Ireland, despite having discussed Tupac with people from all those places! I don’t think I’ve heard it prounounced properly until I started watching US documentaries about Tupac and of course, from you reactors. What I’m trying to say is I’d say it’s Ren’s accent and not a deliberate change to fit the rhyme scheme in this case, although Ren DOES bend his vowel sounds to fit rhyme schemes on many of his tracks - which is actually not too noticable over here because it just reflects the huge variety of accents in the UK!

The first cd was 1982. The Sony Walkman came out soon after and was a small portable cd player you could plug headphones into. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't outrageously expensive either. I remember that cd's quickly became popular, but cassettes were still widely in use for years afterward, primarily because that was the only way to make mixtapes, as cd burning technology wasn't around until many years later. I suspect Ren wasn't trying to be historically accurate as much as he was basically saying, "This was Old School."
@rebeccaburnell9319
@rebeccaburnell9319 9 ай бұрын
Yep, growing up in Canada, anyway, Walkmans (for cassette tapes) were EVERYWHERE but we had no clue Discmans were available until the end of the 80s. I went to school in a well-off part of the city, and while I certainly didn't know many of the rich kids (rich kids of the kind that some of them had parents who bought them a brand new sporty car for their 16th birthdays), I'm not aware of a single one of them having a Discman until we were in grade 12 (1990/1991). They could afford it, but very few record labels put out CDs for many of their artists because the market wasn't there for them to be able to sell many copies on CD. The demographic who bought CD players were considered to be boomers & maybe some adventurous Silent Generation folks; CD titles were released for those tastes. I got hired at a big indie record store in 1992 and CDs were just at a point where the CD section was finally equalling the tape section (and consider that since tapes were sold in packaging that had them oriented vertically, they took up a lot less space on the shelves so if the size of the CD section area of the store was rivalling the size of the tape section, I think it still meant there were more tapes on the shelves... Tapes were a lot "thicker" than CDs so not as many tapes could fit lined up in the bins we filed them all in, but I think the small size of a tape still meant more could fit in the same area... idk, I don't think I've worded that well, but I can't think of a better way to explain it so let's just move on 😂). My point being that at least in Canada, there wasn't much appeal for kids in the 80s to bother having a Discman because the record labels weren't even putting many albums they wanted to listen to on CD yet. It reached a big enough tipping point in... idk, 1989 (?) in Canada where finally more & more titles that appeal to young people were being released on CD as well as tape, and by the time Nirvana hit in 1991 it had become a landslide if titles (still not EVERYTHING was available on CD tho). Also, CDs were awkward to bring with you anywhere. You had to want to carry a backpack around to have extras with you (tapes could be stuck into a pocket if you weren't carrying a backpack around), they scratched and skipped easily, and sure they had a case but the case didn't, like, snap shut or anything so unless you could secure them in your backpack you risked having the case pop open and the CD rubbing against stuff and being damaged. I remember the uproar when portable CD storage was marketed - large wallets with floppy plastic sleeves, and you'd take your CD out of its case and slide it into the sleeve and it was easier/safer to carry around. But the uproar was because we were SO scared about how easy it was to damage a CD (and CDs were EXPENSIVE AF) but yet if the plastic sleeve was tight enough to capture & hold the CD securely from sliding out of the wallet on its own, it meant you would sometimes accidentally scuff or scratch the CD sliding it in/out of your wallet. You gotta remember, this was in a moment of *plastics* technology advancement too. Truly soft/flexible/inexpensive plastics that were *durable* were developed in this same timeframe, and not all flexible plastics are created equal in terms of what might damage a CD if it was rubbed up against it over and over!

Your original stuff is pretty good too, I've added a few of your songs to my playlists. Plus mad style 😎 keep doing what you're doing. I know you're on the ren journey right now, but do you take requests? I have a list of things I love watching people break down and I'd love to see you'se guys's take on some of them. (That's my inner NY showing, though I've lived all over the country at this point and will make people's heads explode by using a "you'se guys" and a "y'all" in the same sentence 😂) Also, from what I understand, you don't have to worry about the copyright thing with ren's music. Over 400,000 CD players were sold in America between 1983 and 1984, despite the high cost of about $1000, which is about $3000 in 2024 dollars. Most middle-class families in America had CD players by the latter half of the 1980s, as the price came down. CD sales overtook cassettes in America by 1992. However, in the market for portable players, the Walkman cassette player was still preferred over the Discman in the 1990s because it was cheaper, could fit in a pocket, didn't skip when bumped, and it was much cheaper and simpler to make a mix tape compared to complicated and expensive CD-R drives and media back then. A lot of people never had a portable CD player. They went from using Walkmans in the 80s and 90s to MP3 players in the late 90s and 00s, especially after the release of the Apple iPod in 2001.

It took me a while to get to this Ren track as I was busy processing other stuff. I'm so glad I chose to start with your reaction which was an absolute joy! I think the best I've ever seen you. I loved all the diversions as well. I made my first mix tape over 50 years ago 😲 I can even remember one of the tracks was Johnny Nash- I Can See Clearly Now. Looking forward to your Illmatic breakdowns. Much love, Jane ❤ xx

Hi guys! LOVED THIS REACTION. The vibe was there, and you both were clickin''! Talking about music playback history, I remember vinyl and even color vinyl 45's (normally 2 songs; hit on one side and a second song on the "flip side"!, vinyl records or "album" LP 78's, 33 1/3's, and the evolution of 8 track tapes! Cassettes were after that. It's so fun to think back and realize how far things have come and yet, I miss those days of broken tapes, splicing them back together carefully and that one particular scratch on an album that made it uniquely yours. Thank you for all you're doing in this awesome reaction community! You are two of the best out here!! ❤🎉 BTW... check out the Pi bars. Ren released this one on 3/14 - talk about meticulous!!

Yo Julz, where can I get one of those Strawhat beanies? Loved this reaction guys! I'm like you guys, an old school hip hop fan. I grew up listening to Illmatic. So as much as I love Ren, I wasn't sure how I was gonna feel about this. You gotta tread carefully when you're trying to fill the shoes of a G.O.A.T. lol! It's either gonna be off the chain or a total disaster, there is no in-between. What won me over was him paying homage to B.I.G., Tupac, Mac Miller, and Lil' Peep. Those bars were overflowing with love and respect for the game. It was beautiful!

Wow we love this comment on so many levels ! We did grow up similar in the music we listened too! Illmatic is one of our favorite albums, fun fact! We went to high school on the same neighborhood where Nas grew up and where the album Illmatic is based. So we really resonate with some of the scenes and words and streets he references! As for the beanies , give us some time and we’ll get some out there on the market !

Wicked reaction Brothas! Do you. Always. You like that old school, my era. "Castles Made of Sand" for sure, hits that wicked early 90's, back ally beat. "Ahiahiahoha" Ft. Bibi ( Bonus Track) has some funk with the beat and story🔥🔥🔥! Halftime was just something special. Wicked superb lyricism. I really hope Nas gets to see it.

With ren's music you don't have to worry about copyright, ren has cleared it with KZbin and his publishing company that their is no restrictions on copyright. You lift his music, he lifts your channel. His way of thanking you and showing what can be done when people work together. If you do get a claim, dispute it and it'll be cleared straight away he explained this in an interview. But pause away that's why we're here. Just letting you know

Ren announced he will be in NY in April to film his music video with Chris Webby. Prof said he's waiting on Ren's verse on a song. And rumor has it there is an NF collab coming as well!!! 💙 Loving the Ren reactions. Someone figured out that the bleeped out word is feminist because Ren used comments from the original Nas video for that verse. ❤
