Agnostic and Atheist don’t believe in any organized religion but many atheist believe that the multiverse is more complex than a meterialist science-centric view and may then identify as agnostic. I am agnostic, in that I think there is something bigger out there in a metaphysical sense. I call it “the universe”, others call it god, the source, gods and goddesses…at the base of almost every religion or belief system there is something bigger than us and saying that you are agnostic is a belief in that possibility but not in any particular god of any particular religion. I normally just tell people I am atheist as, far too often, the word “agnostic” triggers a need in people to tell you about their religion and I have no interest in that type of conversation.

I've only been commenting emojis on Ren content lately bc I feel like the words aren't good enough to explain how I feel about him and his music! ❤❤❤🫶🤘🔥🔥🔥🐷

Not sure if someone mentioned this in the comments or not yet, so thought i would anyway just in case. Ren released a reading of his life everyday for about a week until the drop of this song. Which explains alot of things in this song, and his life. Definitely recommend listening to if you want to learn more about him. Its on his other channel Renmakesstuff

You two never disappoint. Other people have explained parts of the song to you, so you don't need that from me. Perhaps the only thing I'd add is the sample is Vera Hall, "Troubles So Hard". (It's worth looking up her story).

Yep, Ren uses LOTS of Christian imagery and metaphor as an agnostic because he knows the majority of people on the planet can "get" what he's trying to say since almost all of us understand sonething about religion/faith (I'm an atheust and I get it). As an agnostic, he doesn't NOT believe in the existence of a creator; he feels that as a human, he's not equipped to know whether there's a creator or not, and if there is a creator, whether Christian or Islamic or Hindu or Buddhist or Jewish or any other theology is what best describes it. But he, like so many of us here in the comments section, was raised in a society that arose from Judeo-Christian beliefs so he reaches for that imagery most often. As an atheist, I still find his Lord, I forgive You's to be unbelievably moving.

Agnostic means you don't believe in God but you believe there's some sort of spiritual force in the universe. Instead of just explaining everything away by saying it was "God", Agnostics acknowledge there's something out there, but they're not educated enough to know what it is.
@insidiousbeatz488 сағат бұрын
He didnt have a hole in his heart. During a psychotic episode he but into his chest with a knife. Agnostics like myself can explain it easily. Being agnostic means you dont believe in any god and there have been ove 5000. If you believe in a christian god I'm simply saying can you prove it, you say no then i say well i dont believe it. But you deny 4999 gods i only deny 1 more than you without proof.

The sample is from another song called "Natural Blue" by Molbys.. that song is a guy at his very end of his life, dying so it fits perfectly to what Ren is rapping about in this song.
@Qalibrated8 сағат бұрын
He sampled "Trouble So Hard" by Vera Hall, the same song that Moby sampled for "Natural Blues". Ren even did a cover of "Trouble So Hard" with The Big Push in one of their busking performances.
@Caseyd19666 сағат бұрын
@Qalibrated yes I think it's so important to acknowledge the song is an African American spiritual folk song about slavery. It was first recorded in 1937 by Vera Hall & 2 other men (sorry, don't recall their names)

Nicki take notes he said that he was calling her to arms, basically you are in a position to be a positive influence so take note and step up, use your platform to positively influence instead of shoving the same crap. And Ben absolutely wrote his own bars. Twice. The first draft was a little too mean for Tom's taste.

You two should consider listening to his ‘story’ - he finished a segment a day for 8 days prior to this drop, which sort of wraps it all up. Not something you’d probably want to do in a reaction - but listening to all of it will give you an excellent understanding of Ren, and where he’s coming from on many of his songs. And, as others have said, during all of his years of suffering - trying to find out what was wrong with him - trying multiple types of treatments, he was online on blogs and telling others who were following along that he would do what he could to support all of them if/when he came out of the dark hole he, and many others are in (it’s what his story series and this song is.. ‘HOPE’ for others! Oh.. and I think you were wrong on his comment about cold steel. I don’t believe he was talking about suicide with a gun, rather that he had cut himself with a steel blade - just so he could feel something. Great reaction.. and can’t wait for you and others to be able to react to the new album he’s working on.. sounds like it will be ‘music-music’!

To be agnostic is to be unsure it is to be open to the idea of God or many other religions. But not tie yourself to it due to uncertainty I guess. I classed myself as agnostic for a long time until the past 2yrs or so now I have a stronger faith. It doesn't mean I don't still question . After all I'm human. But my faith has kept me going. Im so glad you reacted to this guys. This song is great and really does give people hope that things get better. Even when it seems you are stuck like so many people suffering with these debilitating conditions. Love the react guys you rock ✌️🖤

Thanks guys! Not just medical professionals sending you to more professionals with no answers, but also many telling you it's all in your head, being dismissive, or misdiagnosing you... all making things worse. (Like many have suggested, if you haven't already, watch his chapters on RenMakesStuff. There are 8, mostly 10-20 minutes but you'll want to skip the end of each because they each end with a music video from about the time he talks about. They're personal so you could consider watching them on your own.)

Agnostic means "I don't know if there's a god or not." and I can never know for sure. He's talked to god, but isn't sure if anyone was listening, or he was just reaching out in desperation. An atheist does not believe in a god, but an agnostic admits there *could* be a god, but they don't, and can't, know.

Please read the actual bars: One time I carved a whole in my chest, just to feel I wish that was a metaphor, the struggle was real When you're living in a holocaust you buckle and kneel There's relief in the teeth of the kiss of cold steel Now I hope you understand the point I was trying to make. It has nothing to do with me knowing the actual backstory of Ren, he's actually saying upfront here, you just miss quoted his own bars.

Agnostic is he isn't sure if he believes or doesn't believe... it could be possible there's a God, but he can't prove it or fully believe in it. The way I hear the last line is "I forgive you, I lived through it, and now I'm gonna give it back to you to dwell on because I refuse to continue dwelling" that way, if there is a God (in his mind) it's God's burden to carry now because he carried it as long as he did. It's hard to explain, but makes sense in my mind lol. #hope

I grew up most of my life in church and was very religious. Now I am agnostic so I can explain to you what that means. It means that we can neither confirm nor deny that God exists. We have no proof either way. That doesn’t mean that we don’t want a god to exist. We just don’t know if there is one. There are versions of people that are agnostic. Some are agnostic atheist that don’t know if God is real, but they don’t think that he is. There are agnostic theists that don’t know if God exists, but they think they’re probably is a God. So there are various levels and belief systems within the agnostic belief. There are also more belief systems other than the two that I explained.

I think Ren is addressing us all with “Everything I’ve been through is yours to hold”. He is giving us HIS story with the goal that it will help anyone who needs to hear it realize that there is always hope. Agnosticism is the view or belief that the existence of God, of the divine or the supernatural is unknown or unknowable.

I've stopped watching at marker 13:17 because I couldn't take the both of you misunderstanding Ren's bars any further. I've watched you both breakdown other rappers brilliantly & my only guess is that when you both listen to Ren accent it hard for you both to keep up with what he's saying. Your not the only ones guys, so please consider pulling up the lyrics before you start your reaction, just so you can quickly reference the bar you talking about instantly. Their are a few reactors who have the same problems that you're both having and now that they have the actual bars their breakdowns are like night and day. Not only do they do better job for their audience but the reactors themselves have a deeper appreciation for Ren's songs & lyricism. I Hope I haven't been too tough on both of you, but take my advice to heart because I mean well & truly wish you & your channel success. Cheers from Canada 🍻👍.
