Theresa May's car swept in the gates of Buckingham Palace thirty two seconds after David Cameron's had driven out the same entrance. At a time of much chaos in British public life a bit of reassuring precision.

I follow politics closely and have done for many years. Of all the memories I have from David Cameron's leadership, the one policy that stands out the clearest so vivid is that he he was hellbent on a mass wipeout of the disabled people of the entire United Kingdom. I understand that cuts are needed but there is thousands of parts of governments from where the saving could easily be found. Over Mr Cameron's leadership has be a fearful experience rather than an opportunity to rally behind a possible great leader. Mr Cameron is gone now but will never be forgotten.

@tomlinid8 жыл бұрын
Zachary McGeachy It sounds like Labor are in the process of breaking up like they did in the 1980's. It's a shame because the country really needs an effective opposition to stand up to the excesses of the Tories. You can guarantee the government are going to move to the right. There will be more austerity and more poverty. The divide between rich and poor is likely to increase and society will be the worse for it.

I am writing my comment in early 2023. A lot has happened since this news report in mid-2016. Theresa May was ousted as Prime Minister and replaced by the No Deal Brexit Tories of Boris Johnson, Michael Gove, & Jacob Rees-Mogg. The Brexit Deal secured by Boris Johnson was basically the same as Theresa May, but May did not have the political backing of the EU Leavers of Brexit. Overall, Theresa May did do a good job and she did not deserve to be ousted. At the start of this Channel 4 News video Theresa May made a brief speech pandering to Marxist ideology. Assuming if you have worked hard and accumulated wealth then you are evil. If you are poor then you are good. In the latter half of the 18th century England led the world with a second revolution that propelled human society forward, the Industrial Revolution. The industrial revolution along with liberalism transformed human society from an agrarian society to an industrialized society. The modern world with all its faults raised the standard living for everyone, though unevenly. All we have to do is to look at how England, the US, France, Germany, and a handful of other countries developed during the industrial transition. We can see what makes a modern, industrialized society that benefits everyone. The Communist societies did not create the modern world and raise living standards. Russia or Soviet Union might be considered an exception. But remember Peter the Great in 1700s began reforming Romanov Russia by importing and adopting Western European technical ideas and a second transfer of technology by Stalin in the 1930s. At the end of WWII China had a chance to become industrialized. The Chinese people who worked in foundries and machining could have industrialized China. But the Chinese Communists won a vicious war against the republican Chinese Nationalists. Mao and the Communists confiscated the property of Chinese who understood liberalism, industrialization, & republicanism. And gave their property and wealth to poor peasant farmers. Mao would later confiscate the property of poor peasant farmers for the Communist state. Mao forced his Communist ideology on China and tried to industrialized China with his "Great Leap Forward." He thought he could lead poor peasant farmers and create a modern, communist, industrialized society. All China got was famine. The number of people who starved to death is unknown because Mao and his Communist followers covered up the catastrophe. It seems the politicians of England and most of the western world have been intimidated into espousing Marxist slogans. These useless Marxist Mantras will only lead to decline of human society.
@olivergrumitt26012 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately Theresa May turned out not to up the job of Prime Minister. Whatever one may think of Margaret Thatcher, she was An unforgettable Prime Minister, whether for good or bad things, and no one was indifferent about his or her opinion of her. In contrast, Theresa May 2 years after she left office has already largely been forgotten with no real achievements to her name. If she is remembered at all, it will be calling an election which she said she would not and conducting a campaign notable for showing how not to do it.
