Teresa May says there's been a reduction in crime. Nope! There's been a reduction in the reporting of crime. There's a subtle difference It's a vicious circle. If you reduce police manpower they can't attend calls. They don't attend calls, you stop reporting crimes. If you stop reporting crimes you need less police officers. You reduce the police........

For me, the tears when she left are part of why you don’t feel sorry for May. She faced - and contributed to - the suffering of others perfectly stoically, the tears she shed were of self-pity. Hard to feel compassion for someone so apparently incapable of feeling compassion for others.

The rehabilitation of Theresa May (“not as terrible as Johnson”) is like a much lighter version of the rehabilitation of George W. Bush (“not as terrible as Trump”). They’re both benefiting from absurdly low bars.

Actually, I’ll amend that. GWB may not be as personally repellent as DJT, but long-term consequences of his policies remain arguably as bad if not worse.

Trump is vile but his presidency will serve as a curious blip in the annuals of the presidency as a whole. Nothing really of note achieved. GWB jr. will continue to live on as one of the worst presidents through a foreign policy / war which drastically changed the course of history for the worse, and one we (the entire western and middle-eastern world) are still paying for today.

No Tory of the past 20 years has the remotest sliver of a redeeming feature. There might be one or two who you could point at and say 'Well, that one wasn't so bad', but just look at the things they voted for and the devastation wrought by those decisions on the lives of people in this, and other, countries and they are ALL complicit. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

The Hostile Environment can never be forgiven. Further, she enabled so much that has come to fruition since. When she (years before) stood up in parliament and said 'some think of the Tory party as the nasty party', I thought yes indeed and so are you! That has been the case. May the enabler is all bad. And the fact that she has defined what hard Brexit Britain must have, because she was pushed by the ERG, makes it even worse. No back bone but brutal in carrying out nasty politics is not a reason to rehabilitate her.

On the sexism issue, her being a woman is absolutely not a reason to hold back on criticising her political performance. However, I do think she was unfairly srutinised or attacked for some things which would far less likely to attract commentary for male politicians: most notably, the suggestion that she was unsuitable to be PM because she didn't have kids, and also aspects of her appearance like footwear choices and that godawful legs-it headline (my personal nom for the nadir of Brexit headlines).
