"Loads of newspaper journalists were doing it. Clive Goodman, the News of the World reporter, has been made the scapegoat for a widespread practice. He didn't know? He was just found be the court to have known and profited from the phone hacking. Do you still believe he didn't know? He wrote about it in his own book. I am glad we don't have to pay a fine to take our children out school to holiday in Canada but I think the school system is different here than England. My family and I took a trip to Florida earlier this year to Disney World after saving for 5 years. The children, other than the youngest, paid their own way. They worked with their teachers to make sure they would not fall behind while they were away. 🇨🇦 As for Prince Harry and his family, unfortunately the media in Canada has probably poisoned people's opinions about them as well. (Won't call media news because it is gossip and influence, not news) My sister says the most vile things about them and says the Queen must have been so ashamed of him. So sad. Glad he has won and hope he goes on to win other cases.

I'm on the east coast of Canada. Where I live in Canada it's considered a retirement town. So alot of us loved the Queen. But it ended there with her death. I live in the United States and unfortunately both my Parents passed away during the Pandemic. My siblings and didn't have time to grieve before all the bills came in everything happened so fast. Before we knew it we had lost both our parents and inherited a House in where none of us live with a remaining $17,600 due on the Mortgage and total tax bill of $3,800. And get this, In order to place the Home in a non-dead entity or estate we had to go through that County's Probate Court which cost roughly $5,000 and took roughly 9 months. The Counties and the States make it this disgusting and painful so that you sell land and property back to the States, Counties, and Wealthy. My dad always told me and my siblings that the only time he ever saw his father, my grandfather, cry was when his sibling sold part of his land and to make me swear I'd never sell. Well that isn't exactly true, he confided in Me the trust that he did not want me to sell his land and if I did it would be to an Immediate Family Member for a Single Penny. My father served this country for 30 years and I intend to honor his wishes but man this economy is not helping lol

I am a 76 year old boomer who left the UK 50 years ago. I bought in 1970 a terrace do up in Colchester for less than a grand which was at the time a years salary. Although it needed a lot of repairs, they were done mostly by me and my dad, and the rise in its value is the root of the problem. Many houses being rented out now where built decades ago, and now have an annual rental cost equivalent to the initial construction cost. In Switzerland you have to justify any rental increases, by showing as a landlord how your costs have increased by that amount. When you sell the house capitol gain has a 90% capitol gains tax attached to it. Maybe this would stop the rampant increase in the cost of renting a home.
