That was a good, balanced and Biblical response Brother and especially when we have imbalances on each side of the argument. Like what you said about sanctification and there will be sanctification in the life of the saved believer but a question of what areas, to what degree and at what speed. A big problem I have with the more hardline LS exponents is the basing of assurance on perceived sanctification within themselves or what they can see externally in the lives of others. Assurance is predicated on what Christ did for us not what we do for Him. I have problems too with the attack dog element among Free Gracers who calumnize and anathematize anyone whose soteriology does not square with their own in every detail. Gian the Baptist is not like that at all and a good level headed and gracious brother. I'm not IFB and don't call myself any kind of Baptist but Gian sure represents the better less sectarian and Biblically grounded side of that movement and hopefully their future. Much blessing.

And they were still in Christ 👉1 Corinthians 3:1-3 (KJV) 1 And I, BRETHREN, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even, as unto babes IN CHRIST. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? There is no way any of us ever walk completely 100% in sinless perfection, ref. I John 1:8-10. Not yet, not until we are glorified when He returns. Lordship Salvation adherents deny the reality of the carnal believer, brother in Christ. Paul didn’t. Lordship salvation in the sense that you describe backloads works onto the gospel. We are saved by faith alone BUT now you also have to do x y and c to be SAVED, so they say. That’s the same judaizing mentality Paul came against in Galatians. Its a different gospel. Its faith plus which is far worse than easy believism. IF what you mean by Lordship Salvation is a sanctified walk of abiding in Him, growing in grace, obedient and faithful, etc…..then change the wording. Call it Lordship Sanctification……most everybody would be on the same page then. But to call it Lordship Salvation leads to Galatians 1:9-10.

John Piper stated: God . . . brings about all things in accordance with his will. In other words, it isn’t just that God manages to turn the evil aspects of our world to good for those who love him; it is rather that he himself brings about these evil aspects for his glory (see Ex. 9:13-16; John 9:3) and his people’s good (see Heb. 12:3-11; James 1:2-4). This includes-as incredible and as unacceptable as it may currently seem-God’s having even brought about the Nazis’ brutality at Birkenau and Auschwitz as well as the terrible killings of Dennis Rader and even the sexual abuse of a young child . . .

Heres what i wrote to someone who is caught up in works righteousness, but this addresses the Lordship salvation controversy So if you are a Christian, does that mean you become morally perfect? Can you be perfect in thought word and deed? Because that's basically what you're saying. Sinless perfection after becoming a Christian is not taught in the Bible. Just read 1 Corinthians; The Corinthians Paul wrote to had all kinds of sin problems, yet Paul affirmed that they were Christians. in fact the Apostle Paul himself taught that as a Christian he still sinned. He said, For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Romans 7:18-19 ESV Also consider... as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” Romans 3:10-12 ESV The bible verses you cited must be interpreted with other scriptures in mind. Luke 6:46-48 and Matthew 5:48 can not be talking about justification by works because of the other scriptures in the New Testament that teach justification by faith. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. Romans 3:28 ESV And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, Romans 4:5 ESV Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1 ESV and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith- Philippians 3:9 ESV yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. Galatians 2:16 ESV I have been born again as a Christian since 2000, but I still struggle with the same desires and the same sins I had before I was born again, and i still fall into sin. I can not keep the laws of God in thought, word, or deed, so I flee to Christ and the comfort of the gospel for refuge. Friend It's so important to distinguish between the Law and the Gospel. I'll explain. The Law commands us and tells us how we ought to live. We are Incapable of keeping God's laws. We can not keep the Ten Commandments. We are incapable of perfect obedience. We can not Love as we are commanded. For example...Love is not Gospel, it is Law. Love is a command, and we all fail to love God, the Christian God, with our heart soul mind and strength, and we all fail to love our neighbor as ourself. The law is merciless and serves to show us our inability to keep God's laws, it accuses us and only serves to condemn us, demonstrating our guilt before a holy and just God who must punish sin. For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. James 2:10 ESV For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20 ESV Jesus said this... For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:20 ESV The Gospel tells us what God has done for us. It is the free, unmerited gift of God, of salvation by faith alone in Jesus Christ, apart from works of the Law, by trusting Jesus, that He was perfectly obedient to the Law of God, and recieved the penalty for our sins and died the death that we deserve so that we can be forgiven. The Gospel places no demands on us to do any good works for our justification, relying only on the Person and work of Jesus Christ for our justification. Our salvation and our assurance of salvation is based on the finished work of Jesus Christ and not our own acts of obedience. By faith alone in Jesus we are free from the curse of the Law, and our standing before God is always perfect, even when we fail to keep God's Law. This is the simplicity of the Gospel.... if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 ESV If a person struggles with sins and they become born again, that doesn't mean they are not born again. Those desires and sins only confirm that they are Incapable of keeping God's Laws, driving them to the Gospel and Jesus Christ for refuge. What's most important is their standing before God because of their faith in Christ. There is, therefore, now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1 ESV We are "in Christ" by faith, not by the works of the law. We do not maintain our right standing before God by doing more Christian things and trying harder to keep the Law, but by trusting Jesus who kept the Law perfectly for us and recieving the punishment we deserve for our sins. This is the beauty and simplicity of the gospel Try this. When you read your Bible, ask whether a certain verse or passage you're reading is Law or Gospel. When Jesus said, You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:48 ESV ....this is Law, and we can not keep the law of God as scripture teaches. But we can be "accounted" as perfect by recieving the righteousness of Christ as a gift by faith. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV Below is Gospel. It demands no works of the Law, and we receive everything simply by believing in Jesus “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 ESV

Every knee will bow and EVRY toung WILL confess that Jesus is LORD! Very glad to hear you understand this correctly. "Ask Jesus to come into your heart" is not in the scriptures, nor is it implied in the scriptures. When the rich young ruler came to Jesus and asked Him "what must I do to enter the kingdom," what did Jesus say? "All you have to do is invite Me into your heart." Oops, no that is not what He said. Did the rich young ruler get saved that day? No he did not. Did Jesus have compassion for the rich young ruler? Yes. Then why did he not get saved that day? Because he was unwilling to recognize and submit to Jesus as Lord.

For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. So you must confess that he is Lord and believe that he was raised from the dead . I think another way of saying MacArthur’s Lordship salvation is obedience salvation. Is your desire to obey Christ or just have fire insurance?
@TheMaineSurveyor2 жыл бұрын
Calling it obedience salvation gives it the appearance of works-based salvation, which is a different gospel. Our assurance does not come from our obedience, not from looking at ourselves, not from the opinions of other people, but from Scripture. Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 1st John 5:12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
@jamesmongeau71912 жыл бұрын
I think I understand what you mean when you say that our assurance doesn’t come from our obedience, but as it stands like that, it’s just not accurate. 1 John as a whole deals primarily with the issue of assurance, and one of the tests by which you can see if you are in the faith is indeed obedience, along with other things, such as doctrine, bible truth, Christian fellowship, love, and the testimony of the Holy Spirit. I think I know what your trying to say, but your doing exactly what MacArthur is doing, trying too hard to reject a certain false teaching that your failing to account for and speak the way the bible itself speaks about the issue of assurance.

Paul is very clear that a sinner must belive that Jesus Christ is LORD, BEFORE they are saved! " 9 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone believing on Him shall not be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference both of Jew and of Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call on Him. 13 For everyone, "whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans chapter 10) "29 Then asking for a light he rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 And leading them outside, he said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, and your household. 32 And they spoke the Word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his household" (Acts chapter 16) You CANNOT have Jesus Christ THE SAviour, without Jesus Christ THE LORD!

Yes Jesus is Lord. Is He Lord of everyone? The obvious answer is if He was we would be living in a totally different world. Jesus gives us 2 choices. Matthew 10:32-33 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. You either confess or you deny. If you fail to confess then you are in effect denying. Each of us has to come to a point where we publicly acknowledge our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Wherever you go let people know you believe Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is Lord. If He is our Lord, what does "Lord " mean. It means someone who is to be obeyed. Luke 6:46-49 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. It's futile to call Him Lord if you don't obey. How does a wise man build? James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. There are no promises for those who hear only,but a hearer and a doer. In John chapter 14 Jesus in essence is saying farwell to the disciples gives a marvelous revelation of what the Bible should mean to us as believers in verse 19Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. He has made a distinction between those who do not acknowledge Jesus and His own disciples. Then in verse 22Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? He said thatbecause Jesus said the world will not see Me but you will see me. His question was how will you manifest yourself to us and not to the world? In verse 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. There are some important facts in the answer of Jesus. First Jesus said He would reveal Himself to His disciples not the world. What's the distinguishing mark between the disciples and the world? The answer is keeping the Word of God. True disciples keep the Word of Jesus.That's what makes you or otherwise prevents you from being a true disciple.Its your relationship to the word of God. Keeping God's Word distinguishes disciples from the world. [ We are in one or the other category. If we're disciples we keep the Word of God, if we don't keep the Word of God we belong to the world, the world that isn't under the Lordship of Jesus ] Jesus said if anyone loves Me he will keep my Word.So keeping God's Word is the Supreme test of the disciples love for God. Love is the motivation for obedience. As believers we are not motivated by fear but by love. In a certain sense the law used the motivation of fear. As with children fear will control them but once they leave leave if they've been motivated by fear they'll change. The only thing that will keep them faithful and loyal is love. God didn't build on fear but on love. If any man loves Me he will keep my Word and My Father will love him. Keeping God's Word is what causes God to love us with a special love. It's through keeping the Word that we get to know Jesus better. If we're not lovers of the Word and obedient God will not make His dwelling place with us. You don't love God more than you love His Word. It should take your breath away that God the Father and God the Son want to abide with us, but only if we keep God's Word.

John Macarthur in his book "Hard to be saved" made this statement. It is not the words we speak but the life we live that determines our eternal destiny. HOGWASH. IT is the life Jesus lived and His imputed righteousness that saves us. Romans 4:6. Romans 8:9. Without the Spirit there is no salvation. With the Spirit we are born of God. Ephesians 1:13-14. There is no abortion in Gods family. John 1:12. A changed life is proof that a person has not received the free gift. Saving faith is believing that Jesus died in our place and took the punishment we deserve so we do not have to go to hell to pay our sin debt. John 3:18. PAID IN FULL. NO LONGER CONDEMNED. Romans 11:6. John 3:16 Jesus said it, we believe it, and that settles it. First Timothy 2:4. Second Peter 3:9. One drop of poison in a glass of clean water makes the whole glass poison. One work added to grace is a perverted gospel that cannot save sinners. Romans 11:6. Romans 1:16. Let the Lordship damnationist be accursed for preaching a false gospel of works salvation. Not the free gift of God by a one time faith alone in Jesus alone apart from any works.

Galatians 1:6-9 Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that we have preached unto you, LET HIM BE ACCURSED. As we said before, so say I again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received from us, LET HIM BE ACCURSED. Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit in whom ye are SEALED UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION. First John 5:13. These things have I written unto you that BELEVE on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. John 6:47. Those who preach Lordship salvation are accursed of God. Do we REALLY want the Baptism of the Holy Ghost? If so, we need to obey the same GOSPEL that the early disciples obeyed and preached. Todays gospel has been so watered down that it instructs us to only "believe" and then we are "good to go". But there is no POWER in this and it is NOT the gospel that the disciples of Christ obeyed in the book of Acts. "Believing" is the gateway to "Obeying" the TRUE GOSPEL. However, believing in and of itself is not a complete response to the entire GOSPEL. Jesus said "BELIEVE", yes that is true. But Jesus further expounds "BELIEVE AS THE SCRIPTURES CONTINUE TO SAY" (John 7:38) Jesus instructed His disciples to baptize. He didn't speak this directive just to give them "busy" work. In the scriptures below, we see example after example after example of what the listeners DID after HEARING the True Gospel. There is a pattern here. Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Why mention baptism in the scripture if baptism is irrelevant? Because it is relevant. Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Again, The disciples of Jesus Christ baptized. Joh 4:1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, Joh 4:2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) Peter is preaching the Gospel. He doesn't say, "for the few of you that feel the need to get baptized, go for it!" No, he says, "Be baptized every one of you..." Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Those that gladly received the Gospel that Peter preached got baptized. Those who rejected the Gospel he preached, didn't. Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: Philip is preaching the same Gospel. As a result, the people believed and as a result of that belief, they got baptized. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Simon heard the Gospel. He believed and as a result, he got baptized. Acts 8:13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Philip preached the Gospel to a eunuch. As a result, the eunuch does not say, "I believe in Jesus" and then go on his way. Instead, he wants to get baptized as soon as possible. Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Act 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Peter preaches the Gospel. As the people heard, the Holy Ghost descended and filled them. Afterwards, Peter instructs them to get baptized in the Name of The Lord and is alluding that no man should get in the way of that process. He did not say, "It's optional" (Acts 10:37-48) Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Paul and Silas preach to the keeper of the prison. Paul says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." but he does not stop there. He preached the word of the Lord and as a result, the keeper of the prison and his household were baptized. Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Another instance where people heard the Gospel. They believed and as a result, those who believed were baptized. Act 18:8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. In Acts 19:1-9, Paul is asking a "believer" if they have received the baptism of the Holy Ghost since they believed. They haven't heard about the Holy Ghost. So what does Paul start asking about? He asked how they were baptized. They had been baptized according to John's baptism of repentance. After Paul explained the gospel more clearly (since Jesus had since risen), they got Re-baptized. But this time, it was in the Name of The Lord. Because they repented and got baptized in the name of the Lord, God was obligated to baptize them in the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38), because it is His Promise (Acts 2:39) If you read further in Acts 19:8-9, you will see that certain people BELIEVED NOT and started speaking evil of the gospel that Paul preached. 19 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7 And all the men were about twelve. 8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. 9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. The response to the TRUE GOSPEL includes: 1) Repentance (acknowledging and turning away from sin) and 2) Baptism in the Name of Jesus and as a result, that individual shall 3) Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Jesus tells what happens when we "BELIEVE AS THE SCRIPTURES CONTINUE TO SAY" John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. John 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given ; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Which Gospel of Jesus Christ will you believe? The one that the early disciples of Jesus Christ preached as documented in the Bible? Or the modified/simplified/modernized version that would be considered "Another gospel" by Paul. Paul says the person that preaches "Another gospel" is accursed. Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. Do yourself a HUGE favor. Don't take reckless chances with your salvation. OBEY the TRUE GOSPEL. Acts 2:38 clearly tells us that if we will 1) repent of our sin and 2) get water baptized in the name of Jesus, 3) then God is OBLIGATED to baptize us with the Holy Spirit. Why? Because Acts 2:39 goes on to say that this promise is for every single one of us! So, the question is simple: Have we done steps 1 and 2 so that God can perform step 3 in our lives?

Sanctification is monergistic; the Holy Spirit will bring forth fruit in the believer. The believer should be encouraged that the Holy Spirit is doing the work of sanctification in him or her. The assurance for this is found in the Bible: Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Justification is monergistic, but sanctification is not. If it were, then why would we be able to choose to spend time reading the Bible and praying on any given day, or not? If it were monergistic, we'd never give in to sin. There are plenty of times where I wish we could only choose toward the Lord, but alas, this is not the case. There are many references in the Bible which show that once a person is saved, we must choose to obey the Lord, and to allow Him to work in us. We maintain our ability to give in to our flesh, which will only stop once we die and are glorified.

@@JesusIsTheOnlyWayTruthLife That sounds exactly like lordship salvation to me. A couple years ago, I would have agreed with you wholeheartedly. Since coming to reformed theology, I no longer hold to lordship salvation, the reason being rooted entirely in the Scriptures. At the end of Galatians 5, we see the Fruit of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit brings forth that fruit, not us. We are still able to sin, as we still live in corruptible bodies (1 Corinthians 15, Romans 7, I John 1:9-10), but any obedience in our lives is completely a work of the Holy Spirit, and to God be the glory for that.

@@TheMaineSurveyor regardless of where the source of obedience is coming from, a result of being saved is obedience and a desire to live holy

It's heresy. Pure heresy. Let everyone who follows these doctrines of demons be accursed.

By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God (1 Jn 3:10).

@@alexcameron2880 - I didn’t mean to offend you by simply quoting scripture, but here is a fuller context if that helps: Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him orknows Him. Little children, let no one deceive you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil. No one who isborn of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother. (1 Jn 3:3-10)

@@Bobepc Buddy, I'm not offended. But in the verse before, it states what happens to a born again believer. The born again believer CAN and WILL still sin. However, a spiritual circumcision occurs upon the moment of belief and a new creature is made that CANNOT sin. This is the incorruptible seed. Our flesh sins, but our new creature cannot. Please don't be a Pharisee and pluck random verses out of context to attempt to win an online debate. God's Word is perfect and clear.

I have listened to and followed John MacArthur for many years and I often asked myself, "John, where is the Grace"? It's not my observation alone. Another ex Roman Catholic made the same observation on his KZbin Channel. Growing up under that dogma we knew salvation was just about impossible, only the truly pure would enter into God's Kingdom, and If they performed 2 or more bona fide miracles, then they would be recognized as Saints, right here and now. That comes awful close to some Evangelical churches where they preach "narrow is the gate." And then they claim miracles happen when they call upon the Lord and use his name. Isn't that different sides of the same coin? In an age of narcissism the concept of free grace and the sovereignty of God is hard to accept. Just an observation.
