I worked security at the training facilities in Manchester during the Olympics so I got to watch a lot of the football teams training. Team GB were on doing corner drills as I was patrolling the other side of the pitch. Giggs whipped in a peach and big Meeks goes up for a bycicle kick, whiffs it and as he hit the grass I felt tue ground shaking like 50 yards away.

I was always taught as a winger (in the 80s) to get as deep as possible before crossing. Tracking back and busting your ass to the endline and crossing was your job. The FB would overlap on occasion. I rarely see that anymore. You could switch to your offside but it was very rare. But there was a reason FBs were defensive players, they couldn't shoot. I find it hard to believe "wingbacks" have magically learned how to be goal scorers.
