When he settled down and got to know his teammates, the transformation was incredible. When United started winning, it was because of him....pure and simple. I was also at Selhurst Park that night in 1995, sat directly opposite when he challenged football. I saw him do it.......I still cherish the moment. He won the challenge, as I know plenty of players who had wanted to do the same thing, but didnt have the bottle. He is a worldly man with a voice that has you transfixed. He was everything a player could be. Two feet, passes, crosses, great in the air, quick and his vision was second to none. And he could mix it with proper tough centre halves who used to be allowed to tackle unlike today’s lot. If we are defining world class its players like ERIC that should be right at the top of the list. He transcended the PL in so many ways and annoyingly so he changed man united forever.
