We always said half volley was just one bounce, multiple bounces stops it being a half volley…otherwise way too many things become half volleys it stops it being a distinct thing.
@hustlersmelody96412 күн бұрын
@@Tesmond256Why would multiple bounces stop it being a half volley? Half volley is defined by hitting the ball after it bounces, regardless of how many bounces. If Alexander Arnold pinged a ball from behind half way line meeting Mo salah perfectly after 2 bounces and if Salah struck it with power and it hit the back of the net you’d be saying he struck the ball on the half volley, same thing if he chipped it over the keeper after the second bounce, its still a half volley kick. Yes some things come into account that would make waiting for the ball to bounce more than once before hitting look easier which would take the definition away.. but in game on the run in awkward positions.. call it a half volley why not ?
@Tesmond2562 күн бұрын
@ I like the simple definition: A full volley has 0 bounces on the ground. A half volley has 1 bounce. The second bounce on the ground takes away the other half making it no longer a volley. Volleys are often great goals but not all great goals are volleys.

The Trent situation is very simple. We all understand the pull of Madrid. But if Mac Allister can sign an extension at Brighton with a favourable release clause to ensure that clubs will still come in for him, but he wouldn't leave Brighton high and dry - then what Trent is doing by leaving on a free despite knowing how the club is run is going to tarnish his standing with the fans. Yes, it's not his responsibility to put the club before him, and good on him if he can get a massive signing bonus for joining on a free, but don't expect to be celebrated by the fans when he retires and comes back. He'll go down with McManaman and Owen, players who were undeniably great for us, but left with the hopes of bigger and better and now aren't greeted as heroes by the fans. What makes this all worse for Trent too is that those other players left because Liverpool couldn't compete, we're currently the best side in Europe, so that will go against Trent too.

So gaining Slot, and losing Trent probably out of the 3. Liverpool definitely still came out on top. Players leave all the time. And Liverpool can attract the top talents to replace players. Keegan left, King Kenny followed. Rush left for his sabbatical at Juve, and Aldridge came in and was excellent. Bobby, Sadio, Philip, Henderson, all had to leave. Yes, we would live to keep him. But Liverpool are not so bad that we solely depend on him to win games. This season has proved that. So, good luck to Trent in Spain if he goes. It's easy to spend 50m on a Keita or 80m on a Nunez and then be stuck with their wages while they add little to the team. I don't dislike Nunez, and I know he adds something, but he clearly isn't an 80m player. We have made decent money from the sales of players like Bobby Clark, Fabio Carvalho, and Sepp Van Den Berg which could go a long way towards covering these contracts, and we have removed some big earners over the last two years, like Henderson, Milner, Matip etc. I don't think the club should smash its wage structure, but for fit, winning players, who have proven themselves many times over, I think it's worth pushing the boat out a little.

I'd love to know who dropped the first domino of trent going to Madrid and literally every single football talking head repeats it like a mindless dogmatic parrot. THIS IS LIVERPOOL THIS MEANS MORE you all are pathetically misjudging the pride and rewards to the soul of a proper scouse lad

To clarify, a volley is, and always has been, striking/kicking a ball when it is in the air (whether it has previously bounced or not) and a half-volley is when you kick a ball that has just bounced up of the ground within a few seconds.

Gary has done a wonderful job on MOTD and I will be sad to not see him on a Saturday night. Mark my words, Gary is leaving at just the right time because it won't be long now until the senior BBC execs destroy the show and I have to source my own highlights online. It will happen when they start showing woman's football on the main Saturday night show. The BBC will lose at least 60% of their MOTD viewers when they do this. I knew the BBC was going to replace Gary with a woman. It just frustrates me because if a role that was traditionally held by a woman was taken by a man, there would be an absolute uproar. But anyone who complains about a woman being given this role will instantly be called a misogynist and a sexist. Personally, I do think a woman will do okay, but I would have liked to have seen Ian Wright take over or one of the ex players, Alan Shearer, Micha Richards, Ashley Williams, Danny Murphy, or even Shay Given. I do hope these MOTD regulars were each considered first.

I’m more with Micah, not even a half volley bounced a couple of times. Half volley to me is when you catch it just as it bounces first time. Headers and volleys game is a perfect argument. Maybe it is an age divide?

"Torres, Coutinho, Henderson, Mane, Fabinho, Babel - all left Liverpool for less success. Sometimes, the grass isn't greener. #LFC"

Coutinho would probably argue that he only achieved success after leaving Liverpool. He had no silverware while at Liverpool, but at Barcelona won La Liga twice and the Cops del Rey, and at Bayern Munich won the Champions League and the Bundesliga.

@@garethgriffiths1674 Coutinho's success isn't just about trophies. At Liverpool, he was pivotal in their resurgence, leading to fans' and players' player of the year awards. Silverware isn't the only measure of success; his impact on and off the pitch at Liverpool was immense.

I'm an older man from Holland. But I never forgot Linneker's view on football. 'Football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win'. Thank you for this epic comment!

Maica, as much as you are correct, don't get too comfortable by swearing at these two honourable men because people love you for bringing the smile on any platform you are on. With no malice, I will say, stay humble and keep smiling as you remind us all the joy of being happy

Steve McManaman left an average Liverpool team that was never going to win the league or compete well in Europe. Trent would be leaving his boyhood club which happen to be the best not only in England but Europe too.

This show has quickly become my favourite weekly round up. Like the more unscripted relaxed atmosphere you lot have in this show.

i think we need a new term like "3/4 volley" volley at its purest is when the ball has not touched the ground from when the previous player has played it. half volley is when it literally has just hit the ground and is struck when its about to rise. 3/4 volley would be a full on bounce and then hit like Eze's
