It's no coincidence either - the media and most everyone else are desperate for Liverpool to not win the league, so they ask about contracts after every single game to try and destabilise the players and minimise how well they're doing under Slot. There are loads of players out of contract this summer - de bruyne, son and maguire... they never get mentioned, only Liverpool players do.

The dictionary definition is "before it has touched the ground" so I think you can imply that if it has already touched the ground (since last touching another player) it is not a volley. Waiting for a ball to bounce, rise then drop on your foot so you are ready for the "volley" is just cheating.

You're comparing a player in his prime, similar to shearer when he was the world record transfer & also the top paid player. Its liverpool's fault if he goes on a free, because they haven't renewed his contract, whereas Newcastle renewed Shearer's - as for 'turning down offers', incorrect the media reports of Shearer rejecting man utd 3 times is false, as shearer has stated himself. The CLUB rejected a celtic offer in 2004, weeks before bobby robson was sacked. By then, Shearer was within 30 goals of breaking the club record & originally planned to retire at end of 04/5;

They’re not going to worship Trent there. They released an article yesterday already saying that he won’t be able to play how he plays at Liverpool and he will be expected to play as a traditional full back. They wrote a whole thing about how he will be expected to do an apprenticeship to be more like carvajal and they aren’t interested in him going forward. So basically everything that makes Trent Trent, they don’t want. Perez just wants him because he’s a name.

@hustlersmelody9641
@hustlersmelody9641 2 күн бұрын
@@Tesmond256Why would multiple bounces stop it being a half volley? Half volley is defined by hitting the ball after it bounces, regardless of how many bounces. If Alexander Arnold pinged a ball from behind half way line meeting Mo salah perfectly after 2 bounces and if Salah struck it with power and it hit the back of the net you’d be saying he struck the ball on the half volley, same thing if he chipped it over the keeper after the second bounce, its still a half volley kick. Yes some things come into account that would make waiting for the ball to bounce more than once before hitting look easier which would take the definition away.. but in game on the run in awkward positions.. call it a half volley why not ?
@Tesmond256

The Trent situation is very simple. We all understand the pull of Madrid. But if Mac Allister can sign an extension at Brighton with a favourable release clause to ensure that clubs will still come in for him, but he wouldn't leave Brighton high and dry - then what Trent is doing by leaving on a free despite knowing how the club is run is going to tarnish his standing with the fans. Yes, it's not his responsibility to put the club before him, and good on him if he can get a massive signing bonus for joining on a free, but don't expect to be celebrated by the fans when he retires and comes back. He'll go down with McManaman and Owen, players who were undeniably great for us, but left with the hopes of bigger and better and now aren't greeted as heroes by the fans. What makes this all worse for Trent too is that those other players left because Liverpool couldn't compete, we're currently the best side in Europe, so that will go against Trent too.

@@BruceLee1.0 you don't think Liverpool have offered him a contract? They can't force him to sign if he doesn't want to. This whole thing has almost certainly been going on for a lot longer than people think. @@BruceLee1.0 There is absolutely no way that Trent wasn't offered a contract extension earlier. It has already been speculated that the renewals were underway and promising until Klopp left, then all 3 players obviously wanted to hold off to see who came in. Which is absolutely fair. However, we all know how Madrid operate. Trent and his agent will have been warned that he either lets his contract run and goes for free, or they never come back in for him. They threatened Mbappe with the same thing. And like I said, Trent is well within his rights to let it play out like this and take the massive signing bonus from Madrid, he just shouldn't expect to be welcomed back, or for us to come rescue him when he's getting boo'd in Spain and they're trying to get him off their books.

FSG got thrown a curveball when Klopp announced he's leaving. The had to focus on finding a suitable replacement, which as it turns out is way more important. So gaining Slot, and losing Trent probably out of the 3. Liverpool definitely still came out on top. Players leave all the time. And Liverpool can attract the top talents to replace players. Keegan left, King Kenny followed. Rush left for his sabbatical at Juve, and Aldridge came in and was excellent. Bobby, Sadio, Philip, Henderson, all had to leave. Yes, we would live to keep him. But Liverpool are not so bad that we solely depend on him to win games. This season has proved that. So, good luck to Trent in Spain if he goes. And we all know, haters are trying to find any reason to destabilise Liverpool. And this is the only one left after the "haven't played anyone, played all the teams when they have a drop off, blah blah blah. But surprise, surprise. Looks like Liverpool is focused on the job of winning. Hold that you lot.

@@KadirPaulo It's like playing FIFA on easy mode. Trent's been talking about legacy recently. Winning trophies means so much more with Liverpool, Gerrard has said winning 1 trophy with his boyhood club Liverpool equals 10 trophies for another club. Trent will just be another name amongst a load of other stars, and I guarantee the Madrid fans will turn on him in a heartbeat whereas if he stays at Liverpool for 10-20 years he will be standing alongside legends of the club like Dalglish, Gerrard, Rush, which gives you an indefinitely better legacy than leaving Liverpool and moving to Real Madrid for a few years to win some trophies and then being binned off at the first sign of decline, whilst ruining your legacy with Liverpool.

If someone like diaz, gakpo, mac allister or whatever went to madrid i wouldn’t be surprised because they’re not liverpool fans or didn’t grow up here, they’re at liverpool cus that’s where they feel they’ll win the most so if madrid come along they’ll probably go naturally, however when it comes to homegrown players not as many tend to go there cus they love their club. 350,000k a week over three years is 54.6m Considering all three players are proven PL and CL winners, already understand Slot's tactics, all have very good injury records and, crucially, are in a very strong position to potentially add another PL, I really think the owners should give them something in that ballpark. It's easy to spend 50m on a Keita or 80m on a Nunez and then be stuck with their wages while they add little to the team. I don't dislike Nunez, and I know he adds something, but he clearly isn't an 80m player. We have made decent money from the sales of players like Bobby Clark, Fabio Carvalho, and Sepp Van Den Berg which could go a long way towards covering these contracts, and we have removed some big earners over the last two years, like Henderson, Milner, Matip etc. I don't think the club should smash its wage structure, but for fit, winning players, who have proven themselves many times over, I think it's worth pushing the boat out a little.

Tent leaving for Real Madrid just feels like a cautionary tale. The boy has won it all and plays for the club that is basically, currently the best team in the world, so why leave? He certainly isn't in much of a similar situation to former players like Michael Owen and Steve MacMannaman. The common denominator is Real Madrid. That being said, all that glitters isn't gold, the grass isn't greener etc., etc.. I just wonder if the real reason why Trent wants to leave, is because he's trying to escape the ongoing scrutiny of his game, as if this isn't going to become more intense at Real Madrid. Maybe he just craves the glorious adulation of Madrid fans when he's spraying passes to MBappe and co. Maybe this is just something he needs to do for his own sense of achievement. As ill-fated and illogical as it may seem to some wiser heads. YNWA Trent ❤

To clarify, a volley is, and always has been, striking/kicking a ball when it is in the air (whether it has previously bounced or not) and a half-volley is when you kick a ball that has just bounced up of the ground within a few seconds.

Gary has done a wonderful job on MOTD and I will be sad to not see him on a Saturday night. Mark my words, Gary is leaving at just the right time because it won't be long now until the senior BBC execs destroy the show and I have to source my own highlights online. It will happen when they start showing woman's football on the main Saturday night show. The BBC will lose at least 60% of their MOTD viewers when they do this. I knew the BBC was going to replace Gary with a woman. It just frustrates me because if a role that was traditionally held by a woman was taken by a man, there would be an absolute uproar. But anyone who complains about a woman being given this role will instantly be called a misogynist and a sexist. Personally, I do think a woman will do okay, but I would have liked to have seen Ian Wright take over or one of the ex players, Alan Shearer, Micha Richards, Ashley Williams, Danny Murphy, or even Shay Given. I do hope these MOTD regulars were each considered first.
