I love Gamera as all normal people do, but this has always been an unfair matchup for the poor guy. His best attack feats are moves that drain or outright kill him, and his best defense feats are against high-powered lasers, stabbing attacks, or tanking a nuke without dying outright. I will not lie. I squealed as soon as I heard the guitar. 'cause I realised, immediately, where this was going. I ADORE Blue Oyster Cult. And hearing these guitar riffs, that rocking ass guitar riffs, that percussion pickup, I knew EXACTLY what you were drawing on. And it's the most pleasant surprise I coulda sked for. Hell, YES. No matter how I look at this matchup, I see no change in the outcome since while Gamera prefers a “winning through retreating” strategy, that does little to help against Godzilla as when the King of the Monsters starts a fight, he will not stop fighting until either he or his opponent is dead. Remember this person on Quora who _insisted_ that Gamera would beat Godzilla. I tried to be reasonable and lay out thorough evidence that Godzilla would win, but they kept just saying stuff like "Gamera smarter lol" and other similar stuff and would repeat these arguments over and over again no matter how much I made it clear it didn't matter. Eventually they started getting passive aggressive and went on a rant about Toho depicting Godzilla as a god. I called them out finally, and in response they called me a fanboy and reported my last comment, which somehow actually got taken down. I appealed and reported their behavior but both attempts were ignored. To this day I am convinced that they were an admin and happy to abuse their power, because I cannot see how any sane person would see that exchange and think I was being unreasonable there lol.

Y'know, when I first saw "History Shows Again & Again" as the song title, I knew that Gojira would be involved but I hadn't considered at all a Gojira VS Gamera track (I assumed it'd be the absolutely horrifyingly bad Hulk VS Gojira or a Gojira Battleroyale) so I was really hyped to listen to a potentially extremely epic and impactful track featuring the biggest Kaiju matchup of all time. Well, needless to say the end result was... Surprising for sure. I hadn't considered that Blue Öyster Cult's song would be used for this one at all (which, retroactively, is probably quite dumb of me given the track name) so as said above I was 100% expecting an epic and impactful song from the matchup. Turns out the song is actually a groovy rock track that almost only focuses on the Blue Öyster Cult's song with a select few more impactful segments. And that makes me, I'll fully admit, pretty mixed on the track. On one hand it absolutely fits the more goofy side of both Gojira and Gamera to the letter which is amazing if you're a fan of that side of the characters. But on the other hand it almost completely forgets both the more serious sides of the characters and it also kinda shafts Gamera since the majority of the song is based on a song literally called and about Godzilla. Now of course I've now fully integrated the mindset that the track will obviously receive lyrics so right now what the song is is pretty much half of what it'll be in the end but I still feel like it's a bit weird in how it is. As said above it absolutely fits the goofier sides of Gamera and Gojira and it 100% sounds really nice (aside from a few things I'll note later) as a rock song. But it just doesn't really fit beyond that which is why I'm unsure about the track. It forgoes pretty much 70% of both characters' identities by not having the weight, impact and tension befitting of the Kaiju. The only few moments that have segments fitting of that tone are the very start, the very end and the 2:32 segment that actually features the scale and power of the characters. Alas they make up less than 20% total of the track which makes them very limited in songtime. Add to that the fact that they represent the sole issue about the song quality that I have with it and it's a bit funky in a weird way. Individually as said before the rock parts of the track sound really good and individually the more tense parts sound really good. However when combined they clash *a TON* which makes the song feel disjointed. Hell, so disjointed in fact that we get an outright fade out at 2:26 instead of an actual transition. Now this may come up as important when the song will get lyrics so I'm not saying it's outright bad but I'll fully admit that as far as this instrumental is concerned, I have absolutely no idea why you would ever put an actual fade out and not a song transition in a direct standalone song. Of course the segment that follows is good as said before but it just confuses me why you'd decide to do this. Then again I'm barely even an amateur in terms of music so perhaps it has an actual profound reason to being done and I apologize for criticizing it in this case. Overall that's generally what I think about most of the song as a whole. It isn't bad at all, I just don't really understand why it focuses so much on being a rock track inspired by Blue Öyster Cult's "Godzilla" instead of being an actual Godzilla VS Gamera track. It's good-sounding (special mention for the ending at 3:50-4:10 which genuinely sounds very entertaining and almost epic enough to fit Gojira VS Gamera) and works for what it's trying to go for (for the most part) but it just doesn't work for what it's supposed to represent. I'm sure that the vocal version will fix at least a portion of the issues I have with the song but the main problems I have with the song would pretty much require another song to work fully. This track feels more like what an end credits song to a Godzilla VS Gamera movie would be than it feels like a Godzilla VS Gamera track (not helped by the fact that the Blue Öyster Cult's song remake done in KOTM, which is better than the original btw (fight me), is actually used as an end credits song). I must emphasize fully once again that the track is not bad, it simply is both not what I personally am looking for for this matchup and outright does not fit as a Death Battle-style track. You're absolutely free to like it and even encouraged to do so, as said before I'm barely even an amateur as far as music is concerned so what I'm saying is simply my uneducated opinion. And it just so happens that my opinion of the track is very mixed as a whole. Doesn't change the fact that it still is a good work done here by both artists.

@@Annihilate0405 As I mentioned in the original comment, I do recognize that the song does fit the goofier side, AKA Showa era, of Gojira. But I still think the choice peculiar overall as: 1-It extremely heavily forgoes Gamera due to Gamera being much less notable for its goofier antics than Gojira (and of course the fact that the main reference song is heavily biased towards Gojira), 2-Showa Gojira, despite being the longest running era, isn't the most iconic and stays as but one part of Gojira's history. So focusing more than 90% of the song on it just feels weird. See the original Godzilla VS Gamera Death Battle which did have funky moments like Gojira's dropkick but still mostly focused on the more serious and iconic sides of Gojira while this song goes for the opposite: focusing on the comedic side of Gojira while forgoing everything else for most of its runtime. My thoughts about the song are sensibly the same even now: it's a good song (albeit with a few peculiar design choices) but not a fitting Godzilla VS Gamera song.

For a fair reboot, I expect Death Battle / Rooster Teeth would wait for about four years until one, two to three new Gamera movies come out. Otherwise? I expect only Gamera and Godzilla's Anime and Manga or comic book versions to fight. As long as no live action references are leaked.

Is it weird that i think that godzilla, even if he wins, wouldn't kill gamera? More than likely respect him especially with certain things being shown whether itd be gamera's reason for fighting with the main character from the anime more than likely throwing a rock at godzilla to TRY to protect gamera and gamera gains hope and legit be a kong and godzilla roaring at eachother but gamers isnt staying down he's STILL willing to fight despite being absolutely messed up?
