I can relate to that - I never had the courage to put together a tribute for the death of a sea eaglet, who had to be euthanised, in Sydney, but I kept all the footage - every time I started assembling the video, tears would come, so I gave up. @@TheRhnda1225

Yes, it's a very emotional situation and not everybody is prepared to address it. I came to know of this nest only through the tragedy. I had visited the nest E-1 stream a couple of times, before the egg was produced. You never know what's around the corner, with these birds :( @@TheRhnda1225

That is one of the saddest videos I’ve ever seen. She struggled to stay on her feet, but away from her precious eggs so as not to harm them. Once the seizure hit her, her fate was sealed and all was beyond her control, God love her. I know she threw up a huge chunk and seems Alex was eating her scraps cleaning up the nest from earlier. I feared he too would succumb to whatever got Andria, but as we know now, he’s okay. Now We wait to see what autopsy says. I came to this nest from time to time, but wasn’t a 7-24 watcher. I am now because my heart breaks for Alex. This nest will be on my daily watch list along with SWFL, NEFL, Big Bear, Captiva, Dade, Two Harbors, and some sporadic ones. I love eagles and as an old person, this glimpse into the eagles nests are so amazing to me. Watching the little ones born and raised to fledge! joyful, scary, sad, funny, and exciting moments in the lives of the awesome raptors! I even pray for the eagles. I am praying for Alex at the moment that he can cope and someday find love again..just as he had with Andria. ♥️🦅

My deepest sympathy to all involved , those who watch this normally beautiful event through the cameras eye, our commenter and video coordinator, Rhonda, abd in the end, the recovery men. I just came across this nest in the past few days, just before Andria got sick. This was a shocking ending, one cant believe. RIP sweet lady.

I am so sad to see this has happened. I commented once last year, thank you again Rhonda, when I first found this couple and their eggs. I got truly hooked. They were very peaceful for me to watch after a busy day or eventually even part of my morning routine. I truly believe she ate something that has poisoned her. Ya never know but to all of a sudden have this happen over a day or two. Could be the family of the cat that they killed last year, or someone just poisoning mice in their homes and she got one. People don’t consider the food chain when haphazardly putting that stuff down. I was truly oooking forward to another season with these two guys. TBH, I got a little teary when I saw her end. I tried to watch live stream on eaglecam and all the streams are down. Anyone know why?

This is just so egregious and heartbreaking. What on earth caused her to loose her balance? What happens now. I'm sure Alex will miss her and look for her. 😢 I'm crying for him and the loss of his sweet bride. Will he look for another mate.? I'm so sorry for our loss!

Rhonda A. This is just an awful Video to watch. I've never seen an Eagle seize up in and fall off the nest like that. I was one of those thinking about poisoned foodstuff as the cause. But seeing how Andria was so completely overcome with muscle seizures(and same problem earlier yesterday), another source of Death seems likely such as(HPAI) Avian Flu. Rat Poison doesn't cause such a neurologic symptom set. Animals or birds with it ,bleed and eventually become weak and pass on that way. I'm a very recent fan of this nest and could see Andria was a stalwart Eagle Mom and first class mate to Alex and together , they were a superb 2 eagle nest Pair that belongs in every Eagle Nest. The Lord put animals and birds in this Natural world for us people to appreciate and interact with. Andria was one of those type birds we all could love so completely and follow her and Alex's Nest cycles with great Joy over the years. A Wonderful Eagle LIfe cut tragically short.

Wonder why they didn’t rescue her and try to rehabilitate her instead of picking up her dead body!?! 😠☹️ it was clear she was suffering and the cameras are there for a reason not just to view them. I’m sure plenty of rehabilitation centers would have st at least attempted to help her instead of just watching the cameras for days and letting her die! Heartless ! Professionals like Dr. Sharpe would never have allowed her to suffer on her own like this!!!!!! This is when humans are allowed to intervienne. Inhumane bcus we have a view of her suffering and should have helped her! 😡‼️😢

Andria was a "still in flight" bird and we would/could not have helped her until she was grounded. Also, permits and permissions would have taken more time than Andria had. The cams in this forest are put up for research in "observing" the eagles. The cams are not put up to "rescue" the eagles. It's unfortunate that us humans place human feelings on wild raptors that would kill you if they could. I appreciate your words but will defend the USKNF to the end on this one. This is a no intervention nest located with a National Forest. A crew was on standby to collect Andria once she was a "non-flight" bird. Please think this out from all angles before you place judgment on anyone. I know this forest. I know these folks. I know this nest. I knew Andria. We truly did all we could do. It's heartbreaking! No one, and I mean no one, knew this eagle better than me. I mod the channel and suffered more than any human. Please be kind and realize that until all facts are none, no one is to be blamed. As soon as personnel monitoring the camera noticed something was wrong, a wildlife official should've been immediately dispatched so she could be captured and brought to a vet for a health inspection. Clearly zero proactive intervention was taken. This is why I refuse to watch these livestreams and cannot enjoy a single one of them. They all do the same thing, and that is ignore their subjects when they're clearly sick, wait for them to perish, and then start acting remorseful when all they did was sit there and watch. Funny how doctors don't go around avoiding ill patients but apathetic people running channels like these turn a blind eye instead of taking these animals to vets. I guess the right to life only applies to humans because no one felt like stepping up and doing anything. I will be blocking this channel. In case anyone doubts the bystander effect is real, show them this video.

I could give you some of the reasons why no one attempted to climb 105' in the air to retrieve a non-grounded bald eagle, but I will not. We did have a crew on standby to retrieve her as soon as she was grounded. It's unfortunate you are blocking any channel with as much learning by ALL involved is happening at the nest. May you be able to look at the bigger picture and even look into the funds it would've cost to do what you allege should have been done. Also, our cams are put up for research and us humans just get to enjoy it. We don't get to set the rules. May your eagle journey be blessed. Rhonda A (one of the mods of the channel)
