I have a 2020 Porsche Cayenne which is a very nice car all around. It’s not without its problems. I also have a 2024 GR which so far I’m in love with. Great on fuel, very comfortable to drive. If I drive either car too much they just become just another car because of familiarity. Both drive completely different (obviously) but they are what they are and both have things I don’t like and love. My message is buy a car and enjoy it and don’t nit pick it every time you drive it otherwise you will end up hating it. These so called expert car testers may have ulterior motives about the cars they offer opinions on. If you over analyse your potential purchase you will never like it if it falls short in any perceived aspect.

Btw, we have a 2015 Macan nice drive but way more expensive to own low kms but costly, repairs adblue system, front suspension only city driving. Overall no argument the porsches holding costs & sale value not a patch on cruisers, even prado. That said Toyota 6mths service interval on all diesels is BS. fixed price keeps costs down for 5 yrs. No car you buy is perfect, yet people buy vehicles that suit their needs and does what they want. The reason so many people buy the Landcruiser is that it may not do everything better than the rest, but the fact it does everything well is the reason for their sales. It has very good off road ability, it is reliable, it’s very fuel efficient, it tows 3500 kg, it drives well, it’s quick, it looks great and it’s versatile and has good resale value. There’s a lot of cars that do things better than the Landcruiser, but none that does it all. The defender may have better off road ability, but it doesn’t have reliability, the X-5 has better road manners, but it can’t go off road, the patrol is a good alternative but drinks fuel like a fish particularly around town, and in my opinion doesn’t look as good, the biggest gripe people seem to have is the price. The Bentayga is more than double the price, but people still buy them. Buy what you want and don’t worry about what others think as they don’t live your life and need what you do…..

Longer wheel base than a LC300 and wider track than a LC300. smoother ride, no jaw juddering back seat ride 😀, almost sort of sporty handling, 0-100ks 7 sec on 98 oct. around 7L/100k HWY. 14L/100k towing my 2000kg ATM caravan. GCM of 4500kg. Don't need a step ladder to get into. 8 seater, 9 speed close ratio ZF gearbox, Lowish final drive/Diff ratio. gets off the mark super quick, great for towing. Towing mode switch for the auto trans. No air bags or WDH ect needed for towing. All the latest safety stuff Apple car play ect ect.I can't think of another car I would rather own. I noticed people buy these and complain. But never see them use the technology your paying for. Like Little things, the mirrors automatically turn down so you can see the rear wheels when you put in reverse, and all mirrors automatically dim when bright lights are behind you. The adaptive headlights, when you speed up the beam gets brighter and narrower, and has you slow down the lights spread, when you turn the lights turn so you can see father around the corner. And even when its on high beam it will sense a car and it will split the beam to avoid blinding the oncoming traffic. Being the GR when the wife is complaining about the bumps, could of used comfort mode. You can get the car to basically drive its self with adaptive crusie control, it will brake, accelerate, steer its self.

The cruise control lacks control ie washes off speed and then kicks back a few gears until your well iver the speed limit when you crest the hill. 6. The “hot V” for the turbos makes the bonnet hot to the touch 7. The plastics under the bonnet are cheap, rattle and loose 8. The air filter box is worse than a 200. Gawd. I was a rusted on toyota landcruiser man from the early 80s (see my landcruiser line up in profile), ive had them all. Had a 300 for 15,000k it drove me mad. Touch screen is shit, tailgate is shit… and on it goes. Bought a hilux with apple car play blah blah mainly to see if i can live with the 2.8/auto and guess what? I can. Can i justify a 70series or another 300? Pffft. I dunno. I think Toyota is taking the piss out of us. Still have my mint fj45 with 113,000k. A real landcruiser

I thought times were tough at the moment. Who wants to spend $150000.00 on a vehicle other than for ego and impressing the Jones.

That’s a lot of money for a clunky old Landcruiser. That infotainment system is embarrassing.

For that money I’d rather by a Ram or chev
@twylamc14 ай бұрын
Make sure you do your research before you buy a RAM. My mate bought a second hand one and is looking at spending $20k due to a transmission issue for one thing. Still waiting as we speak as parts not readily available. Apparently, it’s the Australian heat (this happened after they have spent some time in WA from Adelaide) that caused it. There’s a reason why LCs thrive in Australia. The LC engineers actually do test the cars here due to Australian conditions being tougher.

Is it the inflation or are the prices just fucking ridiculous I live in Dubai and the prices are like 80k for the most luxurious trim

Ineos Grenadier surely is a competitor?

How much is the ineos grenadier in Australia?

Starts at $105,000 plus on-roads, so yes, a good alternative in theory. I haven’t tested it yet (subscribe and hit the bell for the notification of when my review goes live!)

Toyota 4X4 vehicles are way overpriced they have been for a long time. You would have to believe all the myths and bullshit about them to buy one.😊

Tank 500 would be a much better option!
@buncha56514 ай бұрын
@perpetualgrin5804 There are many better options, especially the GWM Tank 300 or 500 at half the price.
@SunnyS27114 ай бұрын
Well it’s Toyota, you can take that anywhere but would you take that risk with a Tank?
@sidjyothi4 ай бұрын
Yes, plenty of people have been doing that across australia and the tank has held up just fine. Reliability is a selling point for the toyotas but its ridiculous how overpriced they are and how annoying it is to wait 2 years to get one...really stupid @SunnyS2711

Thanks Adam - infotainment system and design is a bit schizophrenic for me with no quick access rotary knobs - for me white is really the safest and best looking but get rid of all the bling Hungarian gift shop chrome trim - the top price of over $150k is insane and not long ago you could purchase a house for that - I own a Hilux but would look at a diesel Hyundai Sante Fe or Kia Sorrento - VW (née Audi/Skoda) are nice to drive but will eventually fall apart and expensive to service/maintain - Ford, Jeep, Mercedes, Land Rover and anything Chinese/US built are all rubbish so you’re really left with Japanese or South Korean in any market segment and journos know that.

We all love Toyota but they are seriously taking the piss now. I'll just her a tank 500 for half the price and 7 years warranty.

Straight outta China 🇨🇳 😂 No, not for me that TANK for your resale values are going to tank. And apples 🍎 with apples 🍎 that Tank's drive train is not up to LC300 spec. TOYOTA reliability and resale all the way ❤
