Such a beautiful looking car ,inside and out. I remember fondly when it’s direct competitor was the Honda Accord Euro. The biggest problem now is the Toyota Camry is it’s bigger competitor,and the hybrid version kills it for sales. I hope a new generation arrives one day ,even if it’s an electric sedan to rival the Tesla and Polestar

I was just recommended your video (I’m assuming it’s because of my love for Mazda) and I immediately clicked on your video because I thought to myself, “wait what?!?! they brought the Mazda 6 back?!?” When I heard your accent I immediately knew my dreams were ruined lmao!!! I’m from the states and they discontinued the Mazda 6 here unfortunately. It looks like for your market, they took a few aspects from the all new (for the u.s. market) cx-90 and applied them to your guys’ Mazda 6. It’s a shame they didn’t implement the bigger infotainment as well as the most up-to-date taillights from the u.s. market for you guys. Nice video though, keep up the great work!

Thank you mate. I love that!! Yeah. It’s certainly on its last legs here too. But Mazda Australia insists that it will keep selling them as long as people will keep buying them. But the pool is getting shallower.

Spot on with the headroom issue, I was considering a 6 (I was considering the 6, CX-30 and CX-5), but could not fit in the back as I was too tall, I’m 6’4, my head was jammed against the roof in the back, and I have members of the family taller than me so it was a no. It’s what led me to go for my CX-5 instead.

You fail to mention the manual is still offered but only on the NA power train. The turbo variant is also a price premium upwards of 5 grand. I know plenty of people that opted for the NA carbon edition, and the NA Engine isn't really a slouch if you're doing proper maintenance or even applying some aftermarket modifications. There's a couple people who have turbo charged the NA engine pushing over 300hp to the wheel

@@therightcar - nothing wrong with CVT, they are better then DCT, I like using CVT in manual step mode, I find the "ratio" or "step gearing" to be super responsive due to the transaxle final drive ratio being super low in short using step mode virtually eliminates that "rubber band" effect that CVT have in normal drive mode as the variable ratio goes to a virtual fixed ratio base don engine revs, it's almost like driving a manual in terms of how flexible the step ratio is. Of course its not for everyone, I get that but to me and my way of driving its actually dare I say it "sporty and engaging", of course it gets tiresome as the gate is the wrong way (push forward to upshift / pull back to downshift, grrr it's the wrong way round but you get used to it) and not nearly as economical as leaving it in standard variable mode but hey again its me and the way I drive CVT based vehicles. Would love to test one out with a turbo petrol / CVT combo in step mode.
@buncha5651 Жыл бұрын
You're right about being better than a DCT. But CVT longevity is an issue. That's why I wouldn't buy a vehicle with CVT.
@351tgv Жыл бұрын
@@buncha5651 - depends, if you service CVT every lets say 80,000km it should be fine, whereas with a DCT lets use the Ford wet clutch Powershift as the example (not the dry clutch garbage do not go anywhere near that Focus/Fiesta with that gearbox) it needs to get serviced like clock work every 40,000km without fail otherwise FAIL. I know that Nissan version of the Jatco CVT are at best meh but the Mitsubishi versions in everything they went into are pretty much bullet proof , then again they arr not pushing that much torque out of a 2L NA petrol engine a measly 198Nm at 4,500rm not enough to damage the twin chain CVT. A family member has a Mitsubishi AXS (XB MY2013) and done somewhere around 240,000, had the CVT serviced every 80,000km and works fine and yes that is that car I drive in "manual step mode" crazy I know but its fun to drive it that way.

its now in the company car market segment, obviously the higher grade models will be skewed towards private buyers but overall this market segment is all but dead. Nice turbo petrol engine but the 6-speed torque converter lets it down when left to do its own thing, to get the best out of the engine you have to use the semi-auto mode and go your own gear shifting which thankfully is the correct way of pull to upshift push to downshift, that said the transmission has its own issues in that it will not downshift to lower gears at certain road speed so you really cant make full use of the 420Nm torque however I suspect that is probably due to FWD torque steer issues but its a shame as if you want to hustle on a good windy road the transmission won't let you, also typical Mazda is suspension (too soft) and steering (too sharp) which makes for a fidgety ride at highway speeds with constant steering inputs to keep the vehicle straight and BRAKES GRRRRRRR again typical Mazda under-equipped, Mazda never get brake pedal feel right, its like pressing on petrified wood. As for the rest of the package? its old but functional which means everything works the way it should, That said buy the Camry if your in this market segment unless you really want a station wagon then this is really your only mainstream choice.

just on turbo diesel, my employer had a few Ford Mondeo wagon with the TDCi 2.0L and 6-speed DCT (wet clutch pack) in Zeetec spec, l remember them being an easy to drive if a little boring since they were pretty much a repmobile but ford of Europe knew how to get ride and steering balance right, they were so much better than the petrol alternative which was a 2.3L NA i4 with 6-speed torque converter (which was what Mazda were also selling at the same time before Mazda upped engine capacity to 2.5L after Ford sold them off). The best we (re: company I used to work for) was starting at Docklands in Melbourne to La Parouse (where office was based) which is around 985km with 4 people on board + luggage in a MB Mondeo turbo diesel wagon, when it was time to refuel it only needed 48L which mean there was still 11L left in the tank, that worked out to be 4.9L per 100km or in terms of KM per litre 20.5km for 1 litre, thebest I can get with my current turbo petrol (granted AWD and some 300kg heavier) is around 12.5km for 1 litre of 98 RON. Efficient and again why turbo diesel will be round for a long time even though emissions standards are forcing it to an early retirement.
