@@TheRiotguitar Shane, can you use your baritone guitar to play Thrill Is Gone? Please reply
@bbowjazzАй бұрын
A brother who is deep in traditional Black church music explained to me that what you’re playing is called the “Quartet Drive“

This is the vamp way back when (10+ years?) Shane taught on his TrueFire course that got me hooked on his fun style of playing! Admittedly this took a bit of work to finally get down smoothly but so worth the effort!! Game changing at any jam session.............thanks again for sharing, bud!!

I like the sound of those P90 s. Sound like you practicing for the sauce picante festival. Lol
@TheRiotguitarАй бұрын
haha what's up Ramon! Those are not p90's but the old foil pickups...classic sound though

As someone who plays in a gospel group, you nailed it! I was testifying all by myself!! And it was interesting how the angle of your pick looked like it was actually going up on your fills instead of down.

thanks so much that means a lot

Awesome dude! Love the hand claps on the backing track too. Has a carlton with the crusaders vibe.

Good stuff! I like that Guild wish I had not traded mine in 1977 for a Tele Deluxe ah guitars that went down the road!

What I'm seeing is an F7 to Bb to F, then a Dm7(F6) to Gm7(Bb6) to F. I7 IV I , vim7 iim7 I. Love the voice leading in your example. I've been practicing it in different registers too. Excellent lesson!
@TheRiotguitarАй бұрын
You nailed it It's all about the voice leading. thx!

Thanks Shane, you got me practicing something a little different this weekend. I'm jamming along sometimes with the chords, sometimes with single note fills until I can get it all together

Great stuff. Apart from the chords the having to play that in time will help folks. Thats the X factor. Suburban dad in basement may end up throwing guitar at wall and quit church. Haha 😮

How do you like that Starfire? Love the Guild
@TheRiotguitarАй бұрын
it's great for certain things. Believe it or not it's got a great crunchy rock sound through a Marshall or dirty amp. Pickups are noisy but that's part of it. I think it's a 1963

@michaelhockmuller4677Ай бұрын
Would you be willing to share what key you are in and the chords are for each triad shape you’re showing us?
@TheRiotguitarАй бұрын
sure it's in the key of F. The triads are an F ("cluster" voicing like I showed in the vid) to a Bb triad. Then 2nd half is the same C "cluster" triad than Bb and F down in 1st position.
@bobfurlani3314Ай бұрын
What I'm seeing is a F7 to Bb to F, then a Dm7(F6) to Gm7(Bb6) back to F. Great moves! I've been practicing everywhere I can find them including different registers. Thanks for a great lesson.

Shane, no matter where I've seen you, your sound is always really good. Early 60's Starfires with DeArmonds are just great and you make them (and 330's) sound just right. What amp and what's between the SF and the amp? Thanks.

Shane… how do you keep your single coils quiet? Especially for recording. Do you just gate the sh*t out of them? Thanks! ✌️
@TheRiotguitarАй бұрын
no actually I just try and position myself where it doesn't make too much noise. Recording is easy because you can move around until you find the spot. Sometimes it is what it is though....
