Hey Frogger, as an annual that goes dormant and needs insects for proper pollination, I'm not sure Strawberries is the best candidate for growing indoors! Most certainly though the runners and young plants can be accelerated in their growth indoors like I do with them in my greenhouse! Great idea!

I am guessing you are going to do videos on indoor grows this winter-awesome! Can’t wait for the tomatoe video. I am trying to figure that one out. They get so crazy big. Not sure how to contain the plant and still have nice red tomatoes all winter long. Can’t wait to see how you do it. Also, great idea to put the heat mat on the bottom too. Thanks. Also trying to figure out how to have a supply of greens for my chickens through the winter. They love kale. Micro greens would get expensive because they require so many seeds. Are you growing greens/kale/spinach in the tents as well! Thanks!
@TheRipeTomatoFarms
@TheRipeTomatoFarms 3 жыл бұрын
Mary, the Tomato issues you mentioned are real. I have to choose my varieties wisely! Gotta go determinate...or heavy pruned indeterminate, haven't decided! In my climate, kale, collards, etc can be grown outside almost year round! Even though I live in Canada, on the west coast its actually quite mild....similar climate to say Seattle. Microgreens are super nutrient-dense...but for bulk greens for chickens, gotta go with the kales and lettuces. I may try kale indoors...but most definitely I'll be trying lettuce and spinach indoors!

I liked your ideas for the flooring insulation and low profile Rubbermaid would be great for hydro pails or soil type planters in larger tents for mess durring watering. Those Rubbermaid are good for storing cured flower and dried herbs, leaf & trimmings as well. I know you can start mini hairless kiwi indoors and transplant outside to live in our Canadian climate year round but I wonder if a mini banana bush can be grown in a tent durring winter and perhaps be moved outside durring spring/summer, then back inside the following winter etc.

I picked up a 4×4 grow tent for free on NextDoor, and I am wondering how to use it, so this series is going to be helpful. Question: Can you only have one level of plants growing in the tent? Feels like such a waste of all that vertical space.

Awesome!! 4x4 is HUGE! You know, I've struggled with vertical waste of space so much. I honestly think if you're growing low plants in multiple levels, you'll need another set of lights. Its why I am picking vine growers and tall plants mostly. Great question..!
