Thermador Range Door Not Closing - Fixed

Thank you for posting this! It was exactly the problem I was having and I was able to fix my range for about $4.00 and a bit of time. One suggestion I would make to anyone trying this and having a hard time getting the door back on is to fully extend the upper hinge (the one with the spring) and hook it to the lower hinge using the built in clip and hook on the hinges to hold it fully extended. The spring loaded hinge is really hard to move, so I had to use a thick pair of leather gloves to protect my hands. Do this with both hinges and install the door in the open position. It clicks right in and the little clip slips right off once it is installed.

Load the two spring hands down to the short unit and hook with the small U clip. Place door into bracket and push in and release the two U clamps. Takes 10 seconds. Thank you Warren for the tip.

The trick is to installing the door on the Thermador range is, once you are ready to put the door back on, you need to muscle the long spring loaded arms (top arms) down to the door open position (horizontal position). While you hold the long arm in that position, move the short (lower) leaver up to the long leaver and flip the small "U" shaped piece up and hook it into the hook on the bottom of the long (top) arm. This will hold the spring loaded arm in the open position. Of course do this on both sides. Then you just hold the door in the horizontal (open) position and slip the arms into the slots they came out of. Slide the door into the oven and flip the "U" shaped back to unhook it from the long (top arm) and close the door. That's it. The door will now be able to open and close normally and be back in place. You don't have to wrestle with pulling up on the door. It's extremely easy. A one person job. If this doesn't work you most likely have a problem with the hinges.

Wish the process for re-installing the oven door was more explicit. I could not see what you did with the lower (shorter) hinge levers when inserting them into the oven frame. On my unit--which appears to be identical to the one depicted in this video, the lower hinge levers are loose, i.e., under no spring tension. Also, it appears the little "flaps" on the lower hinge levers are positioned toward the end of the hinge when you inserted? Finally, my spark ignition does not work on any burner, the oven/nbroiler, or the center griddle. I must find an approach for this last problem. Thanks for a great video!

Tavy hello. I did. My hinges are good. It was just a matter of getting the instructions from the manufacturer I found a video of an old whirlpool range that uses the same hinges
