I grabbed one of these from ALDI about six years ago to use in my B-Double when on the highway. I had no idea how they worked. Turned out to be useless for what I hoped I could use it for. Since I retired however I decided to check out what it could do. The thing is fantastic. I saw one video saying that the thing had to be absolutely full to retain the heat. This is absolutely untrue. I am a sole traveller and the cooker works fine for making meals for just me. I got rid of my slow cooker at home as well, as this works better without using power. ALDI have them from time to time. Grab one. BTW, great to see a down to earth Aussie Vet doing things like this mate. I was in but didn't go. Respect.

100% respect back mate. Anyone that a has signed that bit of paperwork for the ADF deserves respect mate. I was the same as you mate. I thought these are shit. Then i learnt how to use it and love it. I use it at home all the time. Hope all is well

Just two tips - never put hot rice onto a cold plate, always heat the plate first. And never put warm rice into the fridge, always cool it down quickly (under a cold tap). Rice is a breeding ground for bacteria if the temperature of the rice is ever just 'warm'.

To use cold tap water on already cooked rice? I just want to understand how to use your tips and I thank you for sharing.
@jvallas Жыл бұрын
@@ahcmontanezMaybe run the closed pan under a cold tap? I can't imagine you'd run it on the actual rice.

okay, hear is my question. In a societal collapse situation, I do not want to draw attention to my location and that I have food. I do not want to have the smell of food drifting to my "neighbors." Can I just boil the water over a smokeless small fire or Coleman stove outside. Bring the boiling water into the house, add my ingredients to be cooked and close up the thermal cooker and leave it go for 5 hours or so. Will that work?
