Just to clarify, my recommendation to avoid this SPECIFIC version is due to the weird pricing against the 360mm version. The noisy pump was likely a QC or random problem. That is pretty common with mass produced "cheap" products. Yes, Mike. That humming was notable. Two years ago, I purchased this same unit (non-RGB) for my wife's i7-8700k. It cost me a mere $55 (US) and its performance has been stellar.

I've the 360 white and it's brilliant. No noisy pump. Mike got a lemon. Cheers Michael. Fans are not the most efficient but 360 white cost me an amazing £51. 👀💷😏 Edit. Sorry my model is the aqua elite but by the looks I'd be surprised if they using a different pump.

i would be interested to see if they use different pumps across the range, i also doubt it, but would be nice to know

Yes. They are superb AIOs for the price. There is a good chance that Mike's has a defect.

I got the 360 version of Frozen Prism a few months ago, black without RGB fans. It has some good pressure fans. Installation was fine, about like an air cooler. My pump doesn't seem loud or anything and it works pretty well. I also installed it with the radiator in the top of my case. I like it and I think it was a great deal overall and I haven't had any issues. Thumbs up for great videos.

Build lots or rigs with these out of my side hustle and the big thing that I can tell you is that they have a tendency to have a false bottom when you're tightening down the cooler if you don't apply them in 1/2 turn increments, the tolerances on the AM4/5 mount system are very tight and can be a pain to get the threads started on the second post if you apply too much tension to the first one, you have to mount them very slowly and methodically but when you do they're very quiet and performant.
@Senrab46Ай бұрын
Due to the size and weight of my Thermalright FS140 I was considering an AIO as an upgrade until now! Way too noisy and thought a pump should run at 80 to 100% all the time! So running at low speed must hurt temps. You advise AM5 cpus run hotter than AM4 but 90+deg surely too high. Would a 360 rad or diff brands reduce temps to 70s/80s? Thank you for reviewing Mike and Kath 🐈👍
@mikesunboxingАй бұрын
yeah the 280 or 360 rads usually hold the temps in the high 70s low 80s
@AntoninoVendettaАй бұрын
Nice review, i'm using the thermalright Frozen Edge 240 white and full speed 3500rpm the only noise i can ear the fans,under 2900 rpm all go Quite. also still work the same with pipe at rear or front top,the only the badge will be upsidedown don't know if is right but both side works anyway.

I have one of these. Other than the pump being a little gurgley when I first bought it, I've had zero issues. It's currently cooling a Ryzen 5 5600 and it cools that chip no trouble at all. No complaints from me so as prev commentors say. you've prob had a little bad luck with this one.

Mike, it looks like that perhaps you have got a lemon. I've had this same AIO installed on my R5 5600 system since May last year without the issues you've highlighted. Perhaps Thermaltake's QC's slipping, as I've also noticed the "T" and "L" in your Thermaltake logo are misaligned?
@mikesunboxingАй бұрын
yeah with lower costs the QC and production values are going to slip sadly

I've got a 240mm white one and 360mm black and the pumps not so noisy, you got one a bad one, I recently bought a warframe 240 white and it came with missing cables so I returned it maybe their QC is starting to slip these days.

I have fitted 4 of these aios in system builds now and none of them had this noise or issues at all. I think you have a bad sample, and this is reflected in your cinebench temps also. I would try another one before you make a final point......
@mikesunboxingАй бұрын
i thought the temps are where they should be , the CPU is designed to reach 95c. I will try another model at some point but hopefully this illustrated the point that cheap stuff often lacks QC
@paulzx10Ай бұрын
@@mikesunboxing I would get another of the same model and do a comparison video, be interesting to see if the results point to a likely faulty unit. I'm sure it's not just myself who would be keen to see that video. On a side note I have an old CoolIT Systems ECO A.L.C. 120mm aio from cica 2010 that has a gargling pump with which the noise and temps get worse the lower I set the pump speed, in no doubt due to so much coolant having evaporated with age over the years. Still pulling duty on an old z87 board I use to test used components on, though I may try and flush/replace hoses and fluid soon and see if will keep going another 14+ years🤪.

He sure wines a lot....no color manual? I can barely hear the pump sound and with the case closed up... With regard to the miniature fan hub able to control the pump "Not always best for controlling the pump speed"...yeh but does anyone give you that at all? I will tell you something else.... Thermalright continues to support their products years into the future. I wanted a 2011-3 narrow ILM mounting for one of their CPU coolers....they offered to sell me one for ~$15....this was for one of their old coolers for a very old platform. This was at the beginning of this year. When I called Corsair for a for an AM4/AM5 adapter for a H150i they told me F--- OFF (actually is was more along the lines of "if your product is out of warranty we no longer support it.") Thermalright is a really good company to do business with and they are SO F****** reasonable with their pricing. They will actually provide you support... I mean emails back and forth....always on point with my issue.
