Miraculously I actually managed to build a functioning computer somehow, except for the fans. Very nice video, very informative. Good job! One thing to keep in mind for the future - when you are showing cable connectors to the viewer - keep them still and let your camera focus on the actual connector. Most of the time it is out of focus and the viewer has no way to see the actual connector on their screen. You can easily bring in a still image into post production which would nicely show the head of the connector, all the pins, etc.

Demystified the process for me a little bit. Trying to do a 10 fan argb setup (360 aio side or front intake, 3 bottom intake, 1 rear exhaust and the 3 top exhaust) and I wasn't sure which headers to use. If my argb comes with a fan controller would I only need the 1 controller into the 5v rgb header on the mobo for the 7 daisy chained 120 fans and then the 360 aio into the aio header on the mobo to sync all the rgb with software? Or would I need to use 2 controllers with 4 fans in one controller that bridges into the 2nd controller with 3 fans, that runs into the 5v header on the mobo? I'll probably be using the asus tuf z690 and from what I gathered it has 4 regular fan headers, 2 rgb headers, the 2 cpu fan headers and an aio header. Would the controller(s) occupy 1 rgb header and the aio the 2nd rgb header?
@NickBEADG7 ай бұрын
I installed my TT fans today and the RGB doesn't seem to be working. They're Daisy chained together then connected to the 5v argb header on my ASRock x570s pg Riptide mobo. Everything seems to be connected correctly.
@shtewps6 ай бұрын
If you're using an RGB hub to plug your fans into, and then the RGB hub plugs into a single ARGB header on the motherboard. Can the motherboard control each fan RGB individually? Or are they all controlled by one signal?
@LostinGaming02 жыл бұрын
Can you maybe daisy chain, let's say, 3 case fan's ARG LEDs with liquid cooler's ARGB fan's plus the leds on the pump itself and then connect all of them to the motherboard ARGB pin? To sync all up nicely? Or perhaps daisy chain them to a controller, two cable into the controller, which then goes onto the ARGB header of the motherboard?
@ThermaltakeAustralia2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can! You just need all of the products to be ARGB ones. So as an example, you can connect 3 Pure Plus aRGB fans and TH240 AIO CpU cooler water block all to your motherboard and control it via motherboard software. 🤙
@LostinGaming02 жыл бұрын
@@ThermaltakeAustralia In your example the AIO and the 3 Pure Plus would be daisy chained into one ARGB cable? Cause my plan is a bit complicated sadly. My AIO and the 3 case fans I bought are not from the same brand. Both of them came with their own controller/hub but they don't need to be used, I could just daisy chain their ARGB cables into one and then connect it to the motherboard. Both of them 3-3 fans, so 3 on AIO and 3 in case plus 1 ARGB line on the pump. However since I want them to be synced through Aura Sync I need them to be on one ARGB cable so at least one controller/hub I need to use probably, I can't directly chain them together into one. Also perhaps 6 ARGB fans on one connector would be almost too much to power up by one pin? So I defintelly need to use one of the controller/hub, since they both are SATA powered. Sadly the case fan's cable is like 1 mm wider than the AIO's hub, so they won't fit in there. But the case fan's hub can be easily connected with the AIO's main ARGB cable, which is also daisy chained. So my plan here is to daisy chain the AIO's RGBs, as it supposed to be, and connect it to the case fan's hub with one ARGB cable, then daisy chain the case fan's ARGB cables into one and connect them to the same hub. Then one main ARGB cable comes from the hub and goes into my motherboard. What I'm afraid of is perhaps, even if they are controlled by the motherboard software, since they are different brand I'm afraid that they won't be synced perfectly, or am I wrong and it'll be just perfect?

I was going to get an rgb fan controller for my build, it's kind of in shambles right now, with most of the rgb not working, but after watching this video I might just go the daisychain+motherboard route. I have an MSI z490 a-pro board, it has a JRB 4 pin connector (I'm assuming that's the 12V one that I don't want) and 2x 3-pin "J-rainbow" ports, that are I'm assuming the 5V ones I want. I have an nzxt 240mm AIO that has an rgb pump header (not currently plugged in correctly), and I have 6 total RGB fans (1 in the back, 2 on the top with the AIO, and 3 in the front of the case). So, I should be able to daisychain all 6 fans + the aio pump header all together into a single 3-pin, 5V, "j-rainbow" port? Is that correct? So I wouldn't need a controller?

Unfortunately yes, this header on these controllers take up a space that would otherwise be used by your case for USB2 ports. However, you get internal USB hubs that let you plug in multiple headers and then connect that to the motherboard. I ha e one made by NZXT, served me very well foe this purpose.

Let's say your installing a AIO with RGB fans, will you need to go buy a separate hub/splitter/controller for it if you dont have one? I also want to get a new case that comes with front rgb fans. I'm pretty sure most cases don't come with a hub/controller. Do you usually have the case fans that already come with the case in the same hub as extra fans you put in or do you keep it separated?
