In this segment, we discuss the compressors (gas) and pumps (liquid), which are steady flow engineering devices. The goal is to increase the pressure of the fluid by using external energy input. We also solve an example problem. The problem is for refrigerant R-134A going through a nonadiabatic compressor and requires visiting the refrigerant R-134A tables (A-12 and A-13 in Appendix 1 Cengel).
